Well written, falls too much on the charismatic side for me, but I am at the same time despite to learn to move from head intimacy to heart and spirit intimacy. I want to feel excited and moved when I am in Gods presence. I am tired of my head telling me that is wrong. So I guess I wouldn’t mind a few more books about the experience with the presence of God as long as they remain sound in doctrine. I got kind of squimish at some parts, but was it uncertainty of how the Spirit moves (because I definitely put Him in a box)? Or was it doctrine?

This book was published in 1997, at a time when the church was experiencing some outbreaks of revival. I found it filled with principles that are important today for the church. Goll urges the church to be serious about intercession, praying to change the world for Christ, and he cites a most historical event to point to the effective of intercessory prayer. The Moravian prayer warriors of the eighteenth century offered unbroken prayer for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the week for over 100 years. Through these prayers great things were accomplished. They had a tremendous effect on the Great Awakening and especially John Wesley. The book is filled with Bible references and quotes from great leaders of the faith concerning prayer. It is definitely a call to Christians to take our roles of intercessors seriously.

This book was interesting for me, though I skimmed large sections of it.
Some parts were about intercessory prayer in general, though the majority of the book felt pseudo-autobiographical about the ministry experiences of the author and the churches/ministries he has been involved in founding and supporting.

His experience of church is pretty starkly different than my own, which in some ways was enriching and in many other ways alienating, hence why I skimmed so much. Glad to have read it, but wouldn't really recommend it.

This book is a must read for those who hunger and thirst for more of Him. I learnt so much on every page, and every page stirred my hunger for Him even more! There's so much knowledge available today, but this book invites the reader into a more intimate place of communion with our Father in a very practical "how to" by way of simply sharing personal testimonies and experiences. Challenging but practical and encouraging. Highly recommend this book for those who are already praying but feeling stuck or frustrated.

Very compelling book

If you want to know more about the power of praying for others, of intercession, this book is a must read. Having gone through "dry spells" in my own prayer life, this brought them into focus and immediately enriched my own personal prayers. Ever asked how it is possible to "pray without ceasing"? This will help you to understand a bit more. I trust that God will bring greater clarity in the days to come.

Very encouraging to those going fully into intercession. The scriptural references and practical examples were mind blowing. It makes me wonder what we are doing differently today that has caused a spiritual lethargy in Christianity.
All I know is that I want what these guys had. I was mostly moved my the story of the Moravian community. Wow!!

A well written book. Very upbeat and inspiring for the art of intercession. A reminder that we must be intently in prayer, all of the time! As written, "...unceasing prayer..."

James Goll describes based on Scripture how to stand in the gap for our generation through prayer and intercession. His call of return is for the Christians, who lost the power and passion of a heart on fire for Jesus. He relates the Moravian movement and the prayer warriors who gathered for prayer and intercession for 100 years 24/7 in Herrnhut, Germany. Their prayers and commitments led to sending out missionaries all over the earth. Then he leads the readers to know how to intercede and intervene before our loving Father. Using Scriptures he outlines the steps, which are: restoring the fire on the altar and the priestly purpose of intercession before the Most High.

Excellent read for pray-ers and those intercessors who are on a path of growing deeper in their understanding of prayer. Moravian movement is well discussed as well as the history of the movements of God surrounding time of intense intercession by pockets of Christians looking to further God's Kingdom. I think this is a wonderful book for passing along when discipling others in this spiritual gift.

This book helped me to truly look at what it means to be a Christian and by the name an intercessor of prayer. From the historical accounts of the past moves of God through Christians back in the day to , to the experiences of the author, to the responsibility of Christians today to expect and spend time in the Word to prepare to be used in an awesome move of God as vessels that change is ushered into our world through.

It was rather eye opening with regards to the Moravian prayers. I has no idea about them. It does bring a good reminder to get back on our needs and keep vigil, and it brings to light some of the power to be had through prayer.

I thought this would be an overview of the various rites of intersessionery (?) prayer as practised in the different Christian faiths. Instead, it seems to be an evangelical call to prayer.
