This is a thorough exploration of the 99 names of Allah, but from a fairly orthodox Muslim perspective, not mystical like other books I've like more. It comes across as a bit superstitious with advice on how to solve various problems in your life by reciting the names or various Arabic phrases a certain number of times, at certain times of day, or certain days of the week. Not for me.

Penyejuk Qolbu

( AL-JAMI’ ~ SANG PENGUMPUL )

An insufferable read. This was as tedious, if not more so, than assigned readings from school. This book was really short but even so, I felt like it should have been much shorter. This author is unbelievably repetitive, it's like the entire time he was just trying to say one thing and ended up stuttering for 200+ pages. It didn't help that he had a formula for writing. I might just be really biased because I disagree with him on theological bases. Seriously though, even if he is a Sufi, it's not cool to constantly include weak ahadith... and neglect referencing. I also have no idea where he got these superstitious applications of God's names. It made the rest of the book hard to take seriously. Gosh, I really need to start reading the backs of books.

This book is a great companion to William Chittick's "Sufi Path of Knowledge". The calligraphy work incorporating multiple names is stunning and meditative. Each interpretation of the names is insightful too. I definitely will be using this book as a continual reference.

I have had the fortuity of sitting in the Company of the author, and have benefited from the discussions.

One striking feature of the work is the understanding of the Attributes of God, and more Importantly, those Names, that are also Essences

A simple description of the 5 Categories of God's Own Unique Self, that are only particular to Him, are shared in the Introduction to the Work

Compared with Other Books on the same Subject, there is ample "Interpretation" that begs itself from the author. The section on how specific repeated recitation of His Names, can bring about cure (s)
