Does heaven exist? What is it like? Do angels guide you there? Can you get to heaven if you've been bad? Will you see your loved ones and relatives there? Journalist Mally Cox-Chapman explored these and other questions in her enlightening examination of near-death experiences. Based on interviews with more than fifty experiencers, "The Case for Heaven" profiles not only brushes with heaven but also the remarkable changes made in the lives of those who have survived them. Their newfound commitment to love and service and their joyful acceptance of life after death serve as inspiring examples to anyone searching for spiritual fulfillment.
This was a very well researched study. It recounts many stories of people who have had near death experiences and how it changed their lives. It has two things in common for all the experiencers: there is an overwhelming aura of love in this wonderful place they go to. Some of the heaven explanations are compared to different religions and there are some similarities. Basically, this is a story that you will want to read if you've ever questioned the afterlife.
Wonderful inspirational book about Near Death Experience. A Journalist who has had a NDE herself, decides to research and interview dozens of people who have had near death experiences. There is a lot to learn from their experiences -- all positive, good, and comforting. It's really remarkable
Could be my favorite book ever. Disclaimer, a friend gave this book to me thirteen years ago when my daughter was killed. I have always been a believer but this receiving this reinforcement meant so much to me. I re-read it every once in a while, I just love it.
Book on the experiences of those who have been clinically dead and returned to life to share their experiences. The book delves into near death experiences and writes about their meaning and after effects to those who have them. It references biblical passages as well as touches on recent research. A great book for those interested in the subject matter.
It was interesting to see what other cultures experience and believe after a near death experience. As a Christ follower, I know there is a heaven awaiting me, but it was nice to read about what it will be like, or some of the descriptions anyway.
In my quest for more knowledge on the afterlife I have chosen to read this book. It was both very interesting and informative. The author gave example after example of different near death experiences and provided a religious interpretation of each story. I really enjoyed the different types of encounters people had and was relieved that it was a little different from the other books that I have read. I am not sure if the author completely convinced me that near death experiences are real. I desperately want to believe that they are, but wonder why people would really want to come back if heaven was so great. I could understand hell, but not heaven. My only fall back with this book is that it did not keep me engrossed. I found myself putting the book down and waiting a day or so to pick it up with determination to finish it. I felt like it was a chore reading certain parts of the book. The author is a very talented writer and is genuine with her information that she is sharing. However, it just did not click with me. If you are person that enjoys books about heaven, the afterlife, and near death experiences than this book is for you. I do not recommend this book for people that are into near death experiences about both heaven and hell. I did not see really anything that covered hellish experiences, but maybe I overlooked something.
I think I have discovered that I'm not inclined to rate many non-fiction books much higher than a 3. This was an inspiring book, but what really compels me in reading is the story, the fiction, the escapism. I stopped reading this book at one point, because I thought it was messing with my theology. It proposes the idea that Jesus is as good a way as any to get to heaven, but is not the only way. I didn't want to start being lax in my Christianity because of that idea. But I decided to go ahead and finish it. I really did enjoy it. The main idea behind the whole book, I think, is that those who have had NDE's are forever changed by the revelation of all-consuming, unconditional love. As someone who is never happy with herself, ever, that idea is extremely comforting to me.
