I read this "Tip Top Elf Book", Timothy Tiger, copyright 1959 to of my granddaughters as a bedtime story book. They really enjoyed it. Why? They laughed and laughed as they saw the inappropriateness of the different animal mothers' responses to the poor orphaned tiger cub who was searching for a mother. We all agreed that it would never be published like this in 2021. GOODNESS GRACIAS! The mother elephant responded with 5 negative statements why she wouldn't accept him, finished with a large spurt with water from her trunk ordering him to "GO away!" Oh my, I guess we really did enjoy the book because it gave us a chance to discuss proper behavior, tolerant, kindness and manners.
My all-time favorite book for a good part of my childhood, read to me by Grandma until I'm sure she had it memorized and in whose voice I still hear it in my head.
