Direct perception and experience led our ancestors to the discovery that the success of many activities in daily life is subject to natural rhythms and the position and phases of the moon. Moon Time shows:
* The way to a healthy life based on timeless knowledge that we have either forgotten or learned to ignore * The influence of the moon and other natural rhythms on health and healing * Healthy nourishment and living in harmony within the cycles of the moon * The power of the mind * The influence of all these aspects on body, mind and spirit.
Here is knowledge that will stay with you for life. This is the medical science of the future.
In the early eighties people started asking me to pass on knowledge that had been instilled in me since earliest childhood, namely, the knowledge of moon rhythms and their influence on all living things on earth. I owe this knowledge to my grandfather who taught me that intuition, observation and experience are the key to many things in nature, things that cannot necessarily be explained scientifically.
I clearly remember my first lecture in 1983. I had been warned to expect heckling, but my inner conviction and the support of my friends were such that I did not care how many people would make fun of me. For me only one thing was important: If I could spark just one person’s interest then this ancient knowledge would be kept alive; knowledge that had survived for centuries by word of mouth, experimentation and use and which could be of great value in current times.
Encouraged by the success of my first lecture, others soon followed. After many, many lectures and feeling overwhelmed by countless inquiries, I began looking for a writer who would put this knowledge down on paper. I found the ideal partner in Thomas Poppe.
These days I am happy that so many people are receptive to moon knowledge. Although initially many faces in the audience reflected disbelief, this quickly changed to overwhelming interest. Living according to lunar cycles is nothing new for me, but I am delighted to see how many people once again believe in this ancient knowledge.
My wish is that you shall, assuming you enjoy it, acquire knowledge that will accompany you for a lifetime and will not require using guides and tables. Knowledge that will become second nature and that you can pass on to your children as a stepping-stone to their own experiences. Even though you did not grow up with this knowledge, every one of our books gives you ample opportunity for hands-on-experience. This is far more effective than thousands of examples on paper. After a few attempts it will no longer feel strange and you will see how simple it really is. These books were written together with my dear friend and husband Thomas Poppe. May they make things easier for receptive readers and provide them with a helpful guide for many situations.
After decades of preparation we could finally fulfill another one of our dreams: To come out with a line of products that were manufactured at the right time. We would like to recommend that you try one or the other product. The success when using these natural products speaks for itself.
I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it was very interesting to be introduced to the many ways in which the moon affects our daily life. Having had an interest in spiritual topics for several years now, I have know that the moon has an affect on our emotions and certain body functions, especially in women. However, it was an eye-opener to read that it plays a role in every aspect of our lives, ranging from health, to food, through to the building of our homes. As a result of this book, I have started paying attention to moon phases and what sign the moon is in (I have an app on my phone and am looking to get a good wall calendar).
However... the main thing I didn't like about the book was the condescending tone that the authors used. I understand that they are trying to 'snap' people out of their complacency and get us to realise certain things about our lives and health, but writing page after page of complaining and derisive remarks so not the way to get the reader on your side. Admittedly this book was written about 20 years ago, when spirituality and living in harmony with nature was not as common-place as it is today, but still.
Overall, it is an interesting book and I would recommended it to open-minded people (for you need a very open mind for this topic) interested in living more in tune with nature.
Just like the moon affects the ocean tides, it also affects our bodies. This book goes into detail about how we can order our life in harmony with, not against, nature. For example, the waning moon detoxifies, dries, consolidates, and prompts to action. The waxing moon supplies, absorbs, gathers strength, and prompts to rest and recovery. Therefore, it is ideal to order your life accordingly. The sad thing is, I refer to this book more than I look at the moon and commune with nature, which is one of the first things the author warns you about. It's so easy to become detached from nature, and most people in our industrialized society are. This book makes me hunger for intimate contact with nature, so that I can really learn what this book is talking about through keen awareness and first-hand experience.
I found this book fascinating. I previously knew very little about the impact of the moon on our daily lives. This book is a great introduction. There is a useful section which describes the impact as the moon moves through each of the astrological signs for 2 days each month. Although there are several astrological charts in the back of the book they sadly end at 2020 but it is easy enough to find a moon calendar online. It explains the parts of the body/organs which are most impacted during each sign and therefore the best and least good times during which to have surgery.
Other topics covered by the book include issues around the home from the best time to build a home to issues regarding areas of bad energy. I must admit i skipped the section on blood letting. (I didn't even realise people still do that.)
I found the book to be reassuring. There are days when I might suddenly feel devoid of enthusiasm, or cold all day and the impact of the moon may well provide some answers. But also it has helped me with some structure in my life. I wouldn't be bound by it - after all I need to do washing every week - but I now know when I would do a big spring clean.
If you are at all curious about the impact of the moon I thoroughly recommend this book.
This book was awful. I bought it second hand and I paid $5 but it was still a waste of money. The religious subtext and blatant disregard for factual information leads this book to be dangerous and misleading. The stuff in this book could literally hurt people if they followed it. The introduction literally states that you need to throw your better judgment to the wind and go all in with blind faith and lightning fast judgments instead of thinking through each concept and seeing how you feel. It’s just a bad book, with bad messages, marketed as a cool book about how to connect with the moon and incorporate moon phase related activities into your life. Weird, and creepy. No thanks.

This book is a hard read. It's filled with the authors opinions of how the moon phases can effect your health. Yet the phase is also dependant on which star sign the moon phase is passing though. There is little or no evidence other than their experiences. Yet they do not hide this. It is an honest book and they ask you to look at your own experiances to see if they are correct. Although the concepts are very interesting, the dry writing style means I had to push myself through to finish this book. Would have been a captivating book, if only it was better written.
"There is indeed a reason why we always get into the same difficult situations, why we always have to grapple with the same sort of problems: we did not take in and learn the lesson that is inherent in the apparent misfortune. And we may be sure that we shall have to endure the selfsame experience again and again until we either grasp its meaning or die."
I thought this book would be fascinating. It was, I suppose, in parts... But there were religious references to 'God' etc that I personally, just didn't think correlated with the concept of lunar cycles. And there were also suggestions that sickness can be directly attributed to a person and their life choices. While I understand that some life choices may contribute to a person becoming seriously ill, I'm not sure that I was comfortable with the blame game. Especially not when it comes to illnesses like Cancer that we still don't properly understand... I will still make use of the lunar cycle tables and some of the advice.
I don't know, this book is full with complex procedures and suggestions. It doesn't go in depth about the WHY is the moon influential. Rather, this book just tell you the do's and don'ts. This fact alone is frustrating! Plus you need to be living somewhere in a jungle 500 years ago in order to make use of the suggestion in this book. Nonetheless, I will refer back to this book as I feel is necessary to a certain topic. The authors could have made a much simpler book without much "fillers" of words that keep repeating over and over that could make the reading a bit boring!
This is the second book about the moon calendar and it´s use by Johanna Paungger and Thomas Poppe. It refers more to the influence of the moon to health and healing and I really try to put into practice their suggestions as much as possible to keep my health. If you´re interested to get every day instructions what to do and what to leave you can take a look at the author´s website for their daily moon calendar
Pretty darn good. A couple unanswered questions left me wondering about the validity of many claims, however... Like why would cutting your nails on a Friday matter? Seems arbitrary to use a calendar day that has nothing to do with the moon. Otherwise, lots of good good stuff in here!
