Of course, if you are not a music teacher or the conductor of a musical group, this book would not be interesting to you, but because I have that great privilege (Why would anyone NOT want to be a conductor???) I found this book to be instructive and inspiring. I just can't wait to incorporate some of these techniques into my own teaching and conducting. Thank God for people like Peter Boonshaft. He is a master!

If Chicken Soup for the Soul met up with one of my music methods textbooks, Teaching Music with Purpose would be the result. I think this book is aimed more towards the instrumental ensemble director (and why not? the author is a band man), but any music teacher would be able to find a few kernels of wisdom in here to take back to your music classes.

A very uplifting and interesting view of music education, although it is primarily aimed toward high school band teachers (rather than elementary or general music ed) and is almost a "dot to dot" of inspiring quotes rather than a narrative. I enjoyed it as I contemplated my future career moves...

This man was an AMAZING speaker that I heard at the OMEA conference. I got his books there, and I am so excited to read them!
