Tons of fun to read. Great for reading aloud; lots of sounds to make. I enjoyed this folk tale immensely.

This story was a West African Folk Tale about how the chameleon learned to change color. Khante the chameleon thought he was very sick when he first saw that he had changed colors. His whole body was now red and he didn't know why! He went to his doctor and the doctor showed Khante that this was a normal thing and that it could actually help him in the future. After learning this, Khante realized that being able to change colors would actually help him be able to hunt and hide better than before. People in West Africa have been telling this folk tale for many years, and that is why I decided that it was historical-fiction. They include it in their history, but it is a folk tale. I enjoyed this book and it had really fun, bright illustrations. I think older elementary kids would appreciate this book because of the illustrations and fun story plot.
