I’m 33. I live in a town of 300 people, where it’s a sixty mile trip to the nearest grocery store and not uncommon to swing by the post office or bar on horseback.

In 2005, I had plans to move from San Francisco back to New York City - plans that were derailed when I rode through Wyoming and fell in love with this place. I went on to New York, but a month later turned around, returned to Wyoming, and moved to the area where I had only spent one day.

My first book, a health guide and cookbook, was published in 2005.

This book is broken into two-parts, recipes and an approachable introduction into the health concerns of gluten-sensitive or gluten-intolerant people (celiac disease). The personal experiences of the author are what caught my attention to buy this book and so I feel the sticker price is justified, however, it would not likely serve as a regular use cookbook. There are about 100 recipes which vary from breakfast to dinner to dessert, but I suspect that there are many more to be found elsewhere. To be fair, the author clearly states that cooking was not part of her daily life until after her diagnosis (previously she didn’t own any dishes or pots and pans!), after which, she created a new diet and lifestyle around eating gluten-free. What resulted from her journey was this book and a much healthier and happier life. (Kudos to her!)

I loved this book it gave practical advice on living Gluten Free and offered up a short but tastey selection of recipes. Love the smoothies and have made them a staple of my diet. It answers your basic questions about gluten - celiac disease andhow to avoid gluten and how to get better. At first I thought it was rather short and a little incomplete but I have drawn SO MUCH on this book, its not so much that it was short its that it gives all you really need to know to get started. Additional research can be done in depth on any one of the subjects covered in the book if you are curious but you'll just find a better understanding the opinion given in the book. If you area a recent diagnosed celiac start with this book, read it then move on to others...

There are crackers on the cover; I bought it because if the crackers. There are no cracker recipes inside. Not only that, but the recipes either taste unacceptable, or don't work properly as shown.
