As a top academician, Mina Dobic led a privileged life, but that changed when she was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer that had metastasized to her liver, bones, and lymph system. Given two months to live by her physicians, Mina rejected conventional treatments and decided to adopt macrobiotics. Six months later, Mina Dobic was cancer free. My Beautiful Life both explains how Mina recovered from cancer and details how cancer can be prevented through diet and a philosophy of living in balance with nature.
I believe Mina is one of the world's leading Macrobiotic teachers today. Her story is very inspiring as she fought for her life with 2 months to live with metastatic cancer. By living the Macrobiotic way of life she has healed herself of her cancer and continues in vibrant health today. One amazing women.
It was an interesting book to read. I am not sure if I would take it for the tried and true way to live by. Before I decided to purchase this book off Amazon I read some of the reviews, there were some pretty irate readers that from what it appeared put too much into this being a tried and true solution. Either way it was an interesting story that did not take long to finish once started.
What an amazing story. I can't believe the way so many hospitals and doctors function or the way they treat their patients. It really seems like such an awful system. I'm all for healing the body with food. I love the "healing stories" at the end of the book. You get a wide range of problems with the body that are solved simply by eating the right way. Truly inspiring.
I gave this one five stars because it's an authentic and sincere autobiography about fighting cancer with a strict macrobiotic diet. She is not a very engaging and talented writer (in English), but it was a good book and she tells a compelling story.
