Great reference on varieties, care, rootstocks etc. Its quite an old book now. I think there is a newer edition.

This book seemed very informative with recommended varieties, until I realized it was written for the UK climate, and so pretty well none of it applies to my area, nor is available here. It was also very disheartening to see varieties that I know grow gangbusters here described as being difficult and not worth growing -- even listed as being rare in America! So although at first it seemed great, the book turned out to be a disappointment. Some information on tree pruning, however is very interesting.
