An anthology of English short fiction includes the works of such well-known writers as Ruth Rendell, William Trevor, Peter Carey and Edna O'Brien. "[This book's] arrival is a cause for celebration, since it demonstrates, among other things, that the short story flourishes outside of America... This selection from English-speaking writers (excluding only the U.S.) displays a far greater diversity of styles and subjects than the average American story annual... An essential collection for short-story readers." - Kirkus Reviews
