Early-American colonial literature is proving itself to be the bane of my existence as an English major. This one in particular felt like an absurd waste of time.

This is a fantastic tale and I really enjoyed reading it.
It sets up the fantastic basis for the American ghost story. A lot of the archetypes of American ghost/horror are first introduced to American literature in this text. It really reads as a gothic tale.
This is an incredible short story and I highly recommend it.
