This cassette constitutes a course in Romanian, incorporating the vowel changes in the Romanian language. It is designed for those who have never studied the language before, or those who want to build on existing skills. The course is based on the Council of Europe's Threshhold guidelines on language learning. The cassette was recorded by native speakers of Romanian to accompany the book, "Teach Yourself Romanian" (2nd edition). The book is available separately, or both book and cassette are available as a pack.
So far, I'm finding this to be a good introduction to Romanian. The layout seems to move in a logical progression of easier to more difficult. However, you definitely need supplemental resources, such as a dictionary. There are several words that appear in the book that aren't defined in the back of the book. I'm using Google Translate a lot. Also, the book introduces words without showing their stress. My biggest gripe, however, are the countless typos!!! For example, page 119 translates "am fi avut" as "we would have READ" when "avut" is clearly the past participle of "to have" (we would have HAD). My book is already so marked up with my corrections that I feel like a third author.
