There's a new ghost in town, and he wants April to solve his murder. Is this her destiny now--to be a ghost detective? Meanwhile, she has a tearoom to run and more drama at home among the living.
See what else is in store for April and her friends!
Karen Sue Walker is a lover of cozy mysteries, from Agatha Christie to Joanne Fluke. When not working or writing, she spends time with her very talented daughter and ever so fun granddaughter.
Tea is for Temptation is the 7th book in the enjoyable Haunted Tearoom Cozy Mysteries series. I really enjoyed this book even more than I thought I would. I really liked the ghost of Chef Emile and was disappointed to see him move on in the last book. In this book we have a new ghost, Dalton Banks who just died and he is convinced he was murdered but he doesn’t know who the culprit was. April May runs a tea room and she can see ghosts. Dalton is an actor in another town which requires April to take a few road trips. Dalton is a likable character and his acting friends definitely add to the story. While April is out of town, there are problems at the tea room. All of the regulars are part of the story including Sheriff Anderson (Andy) Fontana. I really enjoyed this book and I like the new direction the series is taking. #TeaIsForTemptation. #AHanuntedTearoomCozyMystery
With the previous resident ghost of Chef Emile Toussaint reunited with his true love and having moved on, April finds her vacant kitchen a little lonely. However, she hardly has time to contemplate a ghost free existence when Dalton Banks appears. He is quite insistent that she find out who murdered him and protect his fiancée Violet. Dalton was deeply involved in restoring the local theater in Stockville and acting, and he was a young man, whose only vice seemed to be an addiction to energy drinks. Although she is reluctant to get involved, April ultimately agrees to attend the funeral in his hometown and finds herself caught up in the events surrounding the sudden death. Meanwhile, her friends back home, who have volunteered to manage the tearoom in her absence, have some surprise plans that could land April in big trouble. April’s attempts to juggle problems in two towns provide entertaining and dangerous situations and keep the action flowing. I love the touches of humor with a new ghost, who hasn’t quite mastered his movements, and the familiar characters including best friend Irma, who can be quite devious, demanding and funny. This new book is a wonderful addition to the series and leaves me eagerly anticipating the next one. This is my honest review of an ARC I received from the author.
April May is busy baking in her kitchen missing Chef Emile, the resident ghost she helped to cross over so he could finally be with his lady love, Marie. Her solace didn't last long when she is approached by Dalton Banks, a ghost who claims he was murdered while acting on the stage in the next town and wants her to solve his murder and protect his fiancee, Violet. She was reluctant to agree, she just didn't want to get involved, especially since it is in the next town and she has a tea shop to run and scones to be baked. Dalton can't quite figure out how to get around as a ghost and there are some very humorous moments in the book. But Finally Amy decides to help and becomes Aunt Amy as a front to try and get answers from the crew involved with the play while attending his funeral. This has her leaving the tea shop in her friend's hands. Could this cause a bit of trouble for Amy? Can Amy find out who murdered Dalton? There are so many twists and turns and red-herrings that you won't be able to put it down once you begin! I really like this series with some really good characters that you want to follow. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
For me, I feel like this was the introduction of the new way this series is going to go in the future. In fact, I think you could call a reboot of sort and I’m excited that it is going to go into the direction where April May will now be solving murderers of ghosts that come looking for her to find out how they died. I love that concept and this particular story just gave a little taste of that.
With that being said, this wasn’t my favorite mystery in the series, but it still was a solid read. I thought it was very interesting that this mystery revolved around actors in a play. Ghost Dalton came to see April May to solve his murder after he suddenly died. Dalton believed he was killed while others thought it was in that truck ounces. So April May set out to investigate and before a long she did find that things were very suspicious, especially surrounding Dalton’s death. There are some twists and turns along the way, but nothing earth shattering like others have been in the series. And it was a pretty straightforward mystery. I just wanted maybe a little bit more.
But overall I liked it and I going to continue on in the series because I am so attached to the characters in April Mays life, as well as this whole ghosts coming to visit her to solve their murders.

When I started reading this book, I wasn't sure that I wanted to finish it. April May was all grumpy and crabby and just a bit unlikable and depressing. She's bummed that Chef is gone and misses him so much. When another ghost appears, asking for help solving his murder, April May won't even listen to him and decides without any evidence to the contrary that he wasn't murdered; he'd just drank one energy drink too many. She only helps when he becomes so persistent that she believes he might never go away if she doesn't at least take a look. She really needs to solve this mystery because it could help her to sort out her own feelings about her own life...what direction she wants to go - with her tea room, the ghosts, and the sheriff. He's almost divorced and has expressed an interest in spending time together. Even her cat has questions. I'm glad that I overlooked April May's bad mood and finished reading the story. It was really fun. Everything was going wrong for April May. Once she stopped feeling sorry for herself about the door that closed, she found the open window and life got so much better. Can't wait for the next book!
When did April May become a ghost detective? Almost as soon as her former resident ghost, Chef Emile departed for his heavenly reward, another ghost appears demanding that April solves his murder. Reluctant to get involved, the new ghost in her life begs her to attend his funeral, speak with his broken-hearted fiancé but most importantly solve his death. Attending the funeral is one thing, but pretending to be the victim’s aunt is another. After meeting with his fiancé as well as other friends, initially she is still not sure that the ghost was actually murdered. When April delves more deeply into the victim’s life, she realizes that he may in fact have been murdered. I have enjoyed this series from the first book to this current one. I love the fact that April sees ghosts and is compelled, in this case, to pursue the truth. I am excited to read the next book. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
Normally I'm not a huge fan of paranormal anything - Karen Sue Walker has been the exception.
Tea is for Temptation does not disappoint. As the seventh book in her Haunted Tearoom Cozy Mystery series, her writing has continued to improve and her characters have continued to grow in depth and breadth. This time April May is requested to look into the death of a young actor a few hours drive away while at the same time decide if another murder is about to happen.
Good plot; tight writing; fun escapades; yummy food (Walker's books ALWAYS make me hungry); deep insights into what really matters.
I definitely recommend Tea is for Temptation. It can be read as a stand-alone, but the relationships will make a lot more sense if you start at book one.
This is the seventh book of a very enjoyable cosy mystery series set in a tea room in Serenity Cove.
April runs a tea room, but she can also see and communicate with ghosts. After the resident ghost in the tea room passed on, she thought that it's the end of her experience. However, another ghost arrives, asking her to solve his murder.
Dalton Banks was an actor in a nearby town; after a performance, he was poisoned, and he wants to know who did it.
This is an easy to read series. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
Honestly, I started reading these stories because I'm addicted to tea, all types of tea and I'd never read any books about tea rooms. Now, I'm addicted to these books too. The characters and their quirks are so charming, I wish they were my friends. The mysteries have plenty of twists and turns and keep me turning pages on my Kindle for hours. So looking forward to next books in the series.
Good Mystery There's a new ghost in town, and he wants April to solve his murder. Is this her destiny now--to be a ghost detective? Meanwhile, she has a tearoom to run and more drama at home among the living. This is a good mystery. April May seems to attract ghosts. They want her to solve their murders. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
Another ghost has materialized in April May's kitchen, this time it's Dalton, a recently killed actor. Most actors are used to hearing 'break a leg', but in Dalton's case, dying on stage was not in the script. A light hearted cozy that has April May acting out her own role of 'Aunt April' while hunting a killer. I received an ARC from the author and this review is my opinion.
I received this book as an ARC and I’m so glad I did. With the usual cast, along with new characters and ghostly mayhem, I was thoroughly entertained from the very beginning until the last page. I can’t wait to read more from this author and highly recommend this story as well as the other books in this series.
A tea room owner who can see and hear ghosts might sound improbable, but April May is such a likable character you can't help but believe she has these abilities. And another skill: she solves murders! This is book 7 in A Haunted Tea room Cozy Mystery series and good fun. Get yourself a cup of tea and a scone and enjoy.
Tea is for Temptation is a fabulous addition to the Haunted Tearoom series. Quite why it took me so long to get around to reading it I don't know but I do know I loved it!. The characters are fabulous as always although I'm still gutted about Chef Emille but I dare say I'll get over it...........eventually. A must read series.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. It was a change from the sort of books I typically read, but I still found it heartwarming & I loved the recipes at the end of it. I especially liked the cat Whisk & his mischievous antics & the handsome dead French chef that no one else can see that gives the heroine cooking lessons. I read this book on Kindle.
I loved this book! I’ve really enjoyed the whole series, but this one in particular had me with happy tears in my eyes. Looking forward to the next book even though I know it’s the last of the series unfortunately.
I love these characters! Visiting ghosts asking for help in solving their murders and quirky group of friends who help April May with murder solving and tra shop managing. Love the humor. I'm off to Amazon to see if Book 8 is out yet!
A new ghost shows up demanding April solve his murder. Except his murder happened 3 hours away in Stockeville. A fun new mystery with new characters and a new mystery.
This is an engaging unique mystery set in a delightful seaside community with loving cherry characters. After happening upon book #1 in the series I couldn't stop reading. Can't wait to read the next one.
I liked the books with the ghost of Chef. This one was ok…but having to drive long distance to solve the murder took April away from the tea house. That’s where the story is usually centered.
Believe me when I tell you all of the books are fantastic. Each one is better than the one before it. All the stories are well written and easy to follow.
A very good cozy mystery. Great story and mysteries. I find the characters compelling and enjoy their development and relationships. Anyone for a nice cup of tea?
