On the run from her troubles, Gina Petrillo sought out the support of her oldest friends, the Calamity Janes. Until trouble followed her home to Winding River, Wyoming. City-slicker lawyer Rafe O'Donnell was in hot pursuit of Gina, and he didn't intend to let his sexy suspect out of his sight. But shadowing Gina could prove a challenge, because despite his distrust, Gina's mouthwatering kisses were irresistible. And while Rafe was out to catch a thief--she just might steal his heart!
With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."
The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.
Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.
In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.
When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.
Awesome read,Gina-Rafe such cute couple,i really liked the way they started to understand eachother and explored their attraction which slowly developed into deeper and both fell in love
Gina's bonding with all her friends,Tony, her parents are so beautiful and Gina is such a good person always keeps thinking for others and her loyalty towards her friends is great
Rafe he has always seen bad sides of relationships, how they shatter and how commitment and love brings in deep hurt and pains which is why he refrains from going in any serious relations but with Gina he just can't stop himself and i really liked the way his respects keeps growing for Gina and in the start inspite of his distrust towards her he trusts her and helps her,his constant banters with his secretery is fun and when ever he threatens her he also knows its useless,i liked the way the boss-secretery relation was shown here
Its a cute heart warming love story Great read Recommend it
Another cute story in this series. The storyline of Bobby running off with the money because he wanted her attention was a bit silly but even though that was the reason that Gina went to WY and Rafe followed her there, it was actually a very minor detail in the story. All of the books in this series have had so many hints about what is going in Lauren's story that I can't wait to read that one and finally find out! I already read Emma's story so all of the other hints to the other's stories made sense but Lauren's.

This was a good Saturday read. I sat down and read this in one afternoon and it was great. The author did a great job with the characters. I especially appreciated that she put so much detail in the relationships and and support characters. Besides this though, it was a pretty much standard romance novel. One thing I liked was that the author cut out all of the extra muddy, fluff scenes. There weren’t any pages that I had to push through to keep reading. Instead, I simply sat down and read and enjoyed it. I would absolutely recommend this for anybody who’s looking for a quick read with main characters who love to bicker.
The third book in the series was good, but not great. Gina's partner in their restaurant takes off with money from investors and she's left to handle it.
Enter Rafe, a lawyer assigned to the case who follows her home when she returns for her HS reunion. He wants to keep an eye on her to determine her involvement. The small town rallies around her.
When it's revealed why Bobby absconded with investor funds, I was disappointed. It was a lame reason and letdown for the story. On to Emma's story.
This was a great book. The 3rd in the series, it's beginning to flow like a show would, moving from scene to scene through the different characters.
With a good amount of mystery and some steamy bits, it was an attention grabber. A couple times I even found myself gasping and then laughing out loud.
And of course, I recognized situations from the first two books and read with anticipation of being caught up in moments from precious stories.
Definitely worth the read, but be sure to read all 5 in the series, making sure you read them in order!
Gina Petrillo has been betrayed by her business partner so she goes home to Winding River, Wyoming hoping to get her thoughts together and come up with a solution. But city-slicker lawyer Rafe O'Donnell is hot on her trail. He has every intention of keeping her in sight and catching a thief. But mouth watering kisses will catch them both.
Just the right read @ the right time. SW shows lots of originality and I like the promotion of small towns and emphasis on the importance of friendships. A bit over the top believability-wise. Yay 4 smart characters (NOT the sex stuff tyvm) and plot that doesn’t die in the middle. Think I will regard this as one of her “classics” ;)
I like following a plot with repeated regulars. I feel I know the small town, the relationships, the mutual background characters and a bit of their history
Being investigated for a crime Gina had no idea had been committed, until she had been served a subpoena, decides to reschedule a deposition until she returns from an already planned reunion. The Attorney representing the clients bilked out of hundreds of thousands of dollars believes she has skipped town, although, she had rescheduled the appointment. He decides to follow her to Winding River, Wyoming. This is a frustrating (Personally, I'd had him arrested for stalking) but a very fun read. As with most Sherryl Woods novels, there is romance, love and lots of meddling of the five Calamity Janes, the long-time friends that cause lots of mischief during their younger years and well, keep on creating. I enjoyed this book, the third in the five book series. (There are only five although they boast six on some of the book descriptions (Lauren is the same as Wrangling the Redhead). I have read all five now and would recommend the entire series. Five stars.
Can his mistrust and her disbelief become acceptance?
I enjoyed this book and the characters with which Sherryl Woods has populated this book. They could be my friends and neighbors. The women are friends, best friends, who are each talented and professional but whose most significant traits are loyalty and support toward each other.
He is suspicious that she knew about her partner’s theft and he follows her to her home town. - so she won’t run out on his need to question her about her partner and her restaurant business. The more contact they have the more the sparks fly.
Having followed the friends, the Calamity Janes as the town calls them, I find myself committed to reading the rest of the series.
Fun, clever characters, pleasant town and lots of problems for the Calamity Janes to handle. Worth reading.
Nobody can expect a "Silhouette" to be the next best novel, but this one was actually okay and I knew in what I was getting in before.
There's no secret here: they meet, they're something coming between them, but they cannot resist the sexual attraction between them. This is the recipe and it was used for so many books that nothing feels like new anymore, but this one wasn't that bad; probably because I was set of reading some bad romance and I didn't want to poke my eyes out with Twilight or 50 Shades of gray.
Though I must say, Bobby's reason to disappear with the cash is hilarious. For someone who wrote 70 books (Sherryl Woods), she really was out of ideas for this one. I've got the feeling she improvised along the way. :))
This was a very readable story. Hard to put down and harder to lose the connection to it when I did. The characters are well defined and appear to hold up through the series and though the plot was predictable, there still were questions. Questions that weren't answered until very close to the end.
I had read this one in 2004 and I liked it a lot. Sherryl Woods has graphically described the heroine's mind in the early part of the book. The way Gina and Rafe begin to love each other is awsome.
Couldn't put it down. A strange turn of events put pressures on our hard working chef. Home is always comforting and romance is always exciting. Don't miss this one.
