Olive Thornbury only had one crush in high school, and his name was Asher Gallo. She was smitten with him from the first time she had laid eyes on him. But instead of acting on how she felt, she kept her nose stuck in a book, finding safety in the words rather than emotions.
Asher had never thought of Olive as anything more than a friend. She was aloof, preferring to read books. instead of spending time with her friends. And when she moved away almost a decade ago, their friendship quickly disintegrated.
But when Olive returns to visit a local university, she never expected to run into a very grown up and even more handsome Asher. And what starts off as a rekindling of an old friendship turns into a fiery relationship.
Do the opposites have enough in common to go the distance? Or will their combustible chemistry cause the flames to turn everything into cinders?
I’m annoyed with myself for spending the time it took to finish this book. I should have DNF’d it but mama didn’t raise no quitter!
The author should have fought harder for a plot. I couldn’t identify one. The cast of characters are unmemorable. The “drama” wasn’t written very well. Actually, none of it was written well.
Olive moved back to Florida after spending ten years in Texas furthering her education. She decided to return to her hometown for graduate school. While she’s visiting the campus she runs into Asher, a guy she used to sort of hang out with back in high school. He invites her back to his gram’s place for a family get together. She comes and they decide they want to try to be together as a couple. Right? After just a few hours and ten years apart, they’re going to make a go of it. Turns out Olive has to go back to Texas for a few months and will return in the fall to start school. Asher convinces her to come back to Florida early so they can spend the summer together. He flys out to Texas and drives back with her. His whole family, including his fifty cousins, adore her. Most of the book is Asher and cousins and family talking about how he needs to “lock it down,” with Olive. They are professing their love just days after she gets back to Florida.
Randomly, one of his cousins is in some trouble and comes back to stay with the family in Florida. Of course the cousin and Olive end up hanging out in a house alone together, and the bad guy catches them at the house. Asher’s family busts down the down and saves the day. Then it’s a year later and Asher has proposed. Then it’s epilogue and they’ve had a few kids.
Does my review seem all over the place and unorganized? That’s exactly what reading the book felt like. I feel like a two star rating is generous but one star ratings are for DNF’s.
I received an advance reader copy and am painfully leaving my review voluntarily.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I am NEVER disappointed in this series or this author!!! Cinder was fantastic! All the heat expected in a Chelle Bliss book, with plenty of laughter and even some intrigue. Not to mention, lots of those feel good moments!
Asher was always a player, but he is also a Gallo. And when they fall, they fall fast and hard. I really liked Olive. So smart but really down to earth. Can't wait to see what comes of her encounter with the "mystic."
As always, I'm looking forward to wherever Ms. Bliss decides to take us next!!!
First off saying a big thank you to Valentine PR and Chelle Bliss for sending me a physical copy of this book. I was so excited when I got and I started it the next day. With that said, this is my honest review of the book.
I will say that there is a trope in this book that I am not a fan of. Some people are, but this trope is not one of my favorites. And that's insta-love. I just do not like it when the MCs fall in love right away. I want there to be angst and the build up of their chemistry. Olive and Asher knew each other from high school, but Olive moved away when she was 16. Fast forward 10 years later and she is back in Florida and runs into her high school crush, Asher. So yes, they did know each other before they got together, I just wish we got to see them interact more before they really jumped in.
I feel like at least in the beginning of the book the dialogue between the characters just seemed a little off, like it didn't really flow the best. As I got further into the book it stopped bothering me and I was able to read at a better pace. The last thing that bothered me was that Olive and Asher didn't talk about BC or using a condom before the first time they had sex. Major red flag in my opinion, but I'm sure to some people reading that won't bother them.
Now that I covered the few things that bothered me, lets talk about the things I really enjoyed with this book. I LOVED that Olive is your nerdy girl with her head always stuck in a book. She was introverted and she always felt like she was on the outside of her group of friends and I felt like she was just such a relatable character. Asher being a Grammy's boy was so adorable. Like yes! Help your Grammy with groceries and paint her house! Olive might have fallen for Asher first, but Asher definitely fell harder for Olive. Like he would drop everything to make sure she is okay and taken care of. I also love that he saw she didn't come from a loving and crazy family like he did so he made sure she was always comfortable when they were with his family.
I wish I had the chance to read the rest of the series before this book (this book can be read as a standalone) so that I could get to know the rest of Asher's family. They are such a close knit family and I absolutely love them. They are all up in everyone's business and that is so relatable coming from a big family myself. I felt like Asher's family really made the story and I loved how they just welcomed Olive into it right away and with open arms. The ending of the book pulled at my heartstrings with how much love his family has for Olive.
If you are looking for a really quick read with a found family trope then I recommend this!
Love the Gallo family, amazing book as always!! This is Asher & Olive’s book & you will love it and them along with all of the extended family. Chelle Bliss has proven once again why she is one of my favorite authors and the Gallo’s are my favorite book family. Olive went to school with Asher & moves back for a graduate program, they end up meeting at the grocery store where Asher was taking his grandmother shopping & sparks flew. Just a fabulous, funny, entertaining, heartwarming book that also includes Tate, a Chicago Gallo. We also meet River, Olive’s brother who hopefully gets a book. If you haven’t read any of this author’s books you are truly missing out!! I voluntarily read for an honest review.
Asher and Olive are the most romantic couple Chelle Bliss has ever blessed us with! From the moment Asher saw her again he knew his life was going to change forever. The feelings he had for Olive when they were friends in high school came rushing back, surrounding him with a peacefulness he never knew existed. Olive was the one that got away and he would always regret losing touch with her over the past ten years. Now that she was back, Asher needed to “lock it down” with Olive so she would know, without a shadow of a doubt, that they were meant to be together. His family played a big part in making Olive feel at home and she was soon invited to dinner where the laughter and togetherness warmed her heart and made her feel that she was right where she belonged. Olive grew up in a loveless home and she was envious that Asher, his sister Tamara, and their cousins, had grown up in a world filled with so much love. Even though everything seemed perfect with Asher, Olive was concerned that he would get bored with her because she tended to be reserved and always studying. Little did Olive know that Asher was thanking his lucky stars that she had come back to him to make his life complete.
Olive Thornbury knew Asher when they were in high school together. She's always been the bookworm/nerd of the school. Now she's in grad school going to a College close to where Asher lives. She spent some time at her grandparents house in the same town as Asher and they ran into each other one day.
Olive seems like me a little bit, everything bad that will happen, happens to her. The hotel she booked in Tampa, is a roach infested place. The apartment she and her rented for the year - was actually false, someone took her money. Now she has nowhere to live well, there is Asher's place.
Asher Gallo, had a crush on Olive back in high school, but never acted/did anything to let her know he had feelings for her. Now that she's back in his life he knows he has to keep her.
Will having the whole family all in their business hurt or help a budding relationship for them? Will Olive be able to get through Grad School and hold a relationship with Asher and his family? With Asher's cousin - Tate - back in town will they need to watch out for the MC that's after her?
I did receive a free ARC book copy. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Oh how I love it when the Gallo men fall in love! And finally, it’s Asher Gallo’s turn and boy did he fall hard! Cinder (Men Of Inked: Heatwave #15) is a hit and it makes my romantic heart happy when old crushes find their way back to each other. Asher and Olive had a thing for one another in high school and years later when they reconnect, sparks ignite and it’s obvious their attraction never died.
Cinder has a great mix of alpha charm, heart, just the right amount of spice and heat and of course, hilarious and delightful family dynamics and banter. And what made the storyline even better is the introduction of Asher’s cousin Tate from Chicago. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping this spitfire gets a book.
This book is one of the reasons I love Chelle Bliss so much! Asher Gallo has taken his grab shopping when he bumps into his childhood crush, Olive Thornberry. She's all grown up and there's an instant attraction between them. The chemistry between them grows the more time they spend together. When Olive is scammed over her college room she ends up living with Asher. Is this forever for them or will they realise they aren't meant to be? I woke early and decided to start this book, when it was time to get up and go to work I was distraught as I couldn't put the book down. I love Olive and Asher, childhood friends who were soul mates. The chemistry just gets hotter and the sweetness between them is sugary! I can't wait for the next book!
The Gallo family will always have a special place in my heart!
They might just be the first family saga series I read and so I enjoy just reading about everyone coming together. In Cinder we have Asher and Olivia who have known each other most of their lives growing up and when Olivia returns to town and then EVERYONE in the family is in their business about hooking up. She had the biggest crush on Asher in HS but they were total opposites and nothing ever gave. Ten years later when she returns to town, the attraction is instant, Asher makes a confession and with some hesitation they dive fully in to each other. They’re both pushed out of their comfort zone for sure with all the pressure from the Gallos but they don’t regret it!
I love how Chelle incorporates every family member in every book since book 1 with Pike and Gigi!
This is a fast paced read with some drama as usual for the Gallos.
Thank you to Chelle Bliss and Valentine PR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Gaaah - I’m finally reading the last book from the Heatwave portion of the Gallo family series which includes all the Men of War need books too! Somehow I read Dare before Cinder. But I totally loved Asher’s story! The humor, the craziness of the huge family, the sexy times- it’s all so much - everything! Everything! All the feels you could ever want is in this series! It’s perfection from the very first book to the last! This is one you just have to read and prepare to fall in love with an entire family! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
another Gallo book. It's one of my favorite series but I wont lie I'm ready to end the Gallos on a high note. I worry reading too many of the same books is going to take away from the series.
Can't wait for the final installment of this series and have this series in my heart forever.
I can never get sick of reading about my favorite family The Gallo’s. Asher and Olive, are absolutely incredible together. I love their story and every time they are together. Perfect story with of course unforgettable characters. Another 5 star read that everyone must read.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Cinder is the 13th book in the Men of Inked: Heatwave series. This is Asher Gallo and Olive Thornbury’s story. It is no secret that I love these Gallo’s and want to be an honorary member.
The Gallo men know what they want and don’t have to be hit on the head to know they are in love, well maybe a little hit. Olive and Asher were in high school together and he was her high school crush! She never really knew that Asher liked her too.
It takes Olive moving back home for Asher to realize he doesn’t want to lose her. I think that Asher loved her first because she was always worried that she would end up getting hurt. Olive has a tight hold on her heart.
You can read each of these books as standalones if you would like to just jump in and read a book by this author. But I do highly recommend you go back to the beginning of this series. There have been several spin offs including this series, Men of Inked: Heatwave. These books are all worth going back to the beginning. Cinder is a 5 STAR read for me!
This helps me in keeping things straight and it might help someone else. Since there are certainly a lot of Gallo’s and more to come as Chelle Bliss said at the end of the book!! Woohoo! Men of Inked®: Heatwave Series: • Book 1 - Flame - Gigi Gallo and Pike Moore • Book 2 - Burn - Continuation - Gigi Gallo and Pike Moore • Book 3 - Wildfire - Tamara Gallo and JD “Mammoth” Saint • Book 4 - Blaze - Lily Gallo and Jet Michaels • Book 5 - Ignite - Continuation - Tamara Gallo and JD “Mammoth” Saint • Book 6 - Spark - Nick Gallo and Josephine “Jo” Carmichael • Book 7 - Ember - Rocco Caldo and Rebel Bishop • Book 8 - Singe - Carmello Caldo and Arlo King • Book 9 - Ashes - Rosie Gallo and Dylan Walsh • Book 10 - Scorch - Luna Gallo and Nevin Walsh • Book 11 - Torch -Trace Caldo and Ana Kelly • Book 12 - Inferno - Stone Gallo and Opal • Book 13 - Cinder - Asher Gallo and Olive Thornbury
Asher is the final Gallo sibling that remains single❣️On a trip to the store with his Gram, he bumps into Olive, an old friend that he lost touch with a decade earlier😢 Grams invites her to lunch through Asher and she decides to accept. What she doesn’t realise is that her life is about to be changed forever with this family and no longer “planned” the way she likes things😍
I really love the Gallo world and immersing myself with the second generation as they are so much fun, their group messages are funny as, as are their face to face interactions😂 They always seem to find themselves in trouble that they need help to get out of and usually have to call in the Uncles😳
I’m hoping we get a story for Tate, their cousin from Chicago as well as Olive’s brother at some point😁 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
Cinder by Chelle Bliss, is the thirteenth book in the Men of Inked Series: Heatwave, Asher Gallo and Olive Thornbury have been friends since high school, he has always had a crush on her, but he has never done anything to show her how he feels. For her part, Olive is equally in love with Asher but for fear of being rejected, he is kind of a ladies man, she never told him anything about what she felt for him. Olive was quiet and spent most of her time among books and hardly went out or made new friends so when Olive moved they lost contact. Now Olive is back visiting the University campus and when they meet again the feelings they had as children return and now that she is back, Asher, who has always regretted having lost contact with her, is willing to do everything to show her that they are meant to be together. But Olive is full of doubts since she has grown up in a home without love, so it's difficult for her to believe Asher's feelings, so he must rely on his family to show her how serious his feelings are. A beautiful story that brings us back to the favorite family, The Gallo's, full of laughter, sweetness, friendship, family and a lot of love. An entertaining story with characters that will captivate you and that you won't want to say goodbye to. I will be very attentive to what this author brings to us about this family. Highly recommended! *Thanks to Chelle Bliss and Valentine PR & Literary Management for my ARC. I voluntarily leave my honest review*
Altamente Recomendada! *Gracias a Chelle Bliss y a Valentine PR & Literary Management por mi ARC. Dejo voluntariamente mi reseña honesta*
Asher Gallo was the popular guy in high school having way too many “girlfriends” and being known to keep far away from commitment. There was no girl who could tie him down and he hasn’t found anyone yet to give his heart to. That being said he had an extremely close bond with his family and he and all of his cousins were extremely tight and were always there for each other.
Olive Thornberry was an extremely smart girl who was never in the popular crowd partly due to the fact that she was so brainy. She went away after high school needing to find herself and trying to get a break from her parents who never seemed to be proud of her.
When Olive returns to town to return to University for her master’s she is shocked to see Asher and that he remembers her and also seems to be attracted to her.
Will Olive give Asher a chance believing that he has changed and that he isn’t the same guy that he was in high school?
This was a good read but pretty predictable on the romance front, but it had some other twists in there again, some that didn’t surprise me.
Asher was once quite the player and to a certain degree it sounded like he was up until he saw Olive again. I liked his character but I completely understood why Olive was a little confused on how he was coming onto her at the beginning of the book.
Olive was a smart girl who grew up in a totally different home environment then Asher did and she wasn’t used to being surrounded by so many people who seemed to have a vested interest in your life. Her and her brother, River, were close but he seemed to be more concerned about how much he hated Asher over Olive’s happiness.
The relationship between Asher and Olive moved at a super fast pace and I realize that they sort of had a history but they never dated and Olive was shocked that for the most part that Asher even remembered who she was. So for me it zoomed at some sort of warp speed/insta-love as even of they both had feelings for each other in high school it was like 10 years before and nothing had ever occurred between them.
I thought both of the characters were good for the other although Asher was so protective over Olive that is was initially crazy.
I wasn’t surprised with what happened towards the end of the book with the way things were hinted at.
The ending was good and I am glad that Olive was embraced by Asher’s family the way she was!- Rebecca
Honestly, this is just a bad book. I went in blind with this and for the ARC, I think it was better cause I don't know if I would've finished this if I knew what to expect. I will know in the future though and I doubt I will read another book by Chelle Bliss.
This was a fast and a short read which is why I was able to finish it so easily.
The best thing about this book were the characters in general. I loved the Gallo family and their different (badass) personalities. Unfortunate, the characters were not portrayed as well as they could have been.
And again, unfortunately, that's pretty much where all the good things about this book end.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. However, there were too many characters to keep track of and their pasts were often referenced on a side note and without having read the previous books I feel like I missed out on a lot.
The events were just not believable in any way. Everything happened just out of a left field without pretty much any prelude which made the book confusing as a whole. It literally felt more like a parody about a romantic fiction book than a believable one. Case in point, the main characters immediately meet at the beginning of the book after not being in contact for the last 10 years, the FMC ends up at the MMC's family dinner and all of a sudden the MMC says he wants to be her only baby daddy. WTF did that come from because I basically had no idea about the main characters' shared past or how they felt about each other then and now.
The storyline also felt like it just needed to have some action and drama so enter an MC after Tate (MMC's cousin from Chicago) who all of a sudden finds her in Asher's apartment and holds her at gunpoint.
Also, I feel like Inked is pretty big part of the whole series but other than knowing it is s tattoo parlor, it feels like a mystery to me. With how important it seems to be both to the series and to the MMC considering he works there, it is weird how much it is actually talked about.
Oh and another WTF moment was that there was literally no spice?!
With severe editing and additions, I think the storyline would have had potential but, as it is, everything just fell through and, in my opinion, it is honestly not worth the read.
I received an ARC of Cinder in exchange for an honest review
I’ve only read one other book by Bliss (earlier this summer actually) and it had a bit of a different feel than this one. With Never Too Soon, the characters had an initial connection but they spend some time deciding whether they want to act on it. Cinder on the other hand is very much an insta-love story and then we see how that plays out.
Asher runs into Olive in a parking lot after not seeing each other for about a decade. While they were in the same circle as kids, Olive moved away at 16 but is now back to go to graduate school. His grandma, in all of her meddling glory apparently, pushes him to invite her to a get together they are having that day and … well, the rest is history. Before the party breaks up they’ve pretty much have decided to live happily ever after together. Not having read the rest of the series, I’m not sure if this is normal for this group but from the reviews I think that it might have been surprising to some readers. So just a warning in case that isn’t your kinda of thing :)
I liked the characters, individually and together, so I didn’t mind so much. I just went “oh-kay” and then accepted it. It’s not overly realistic but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. There are a few bumps in the road but for the most part their relationship is drama free, sweet, and enjoyable.
While the book can stand on its own, I kinda wish I’d read more in the series because I would have liked to have known Asher a bit better going in and his whole clan is fantastic together so I would have loved to have more of that. Their interactions are full of love and humor, teasing and support, and the occasional butt-kicking when it’s needed. Olive didn’t have that growing up and I’m happy that she finally gets that with Asher’s family.
I get the idea (granted it’s based on a whopping two book of her’s that I’ve read) that Bliss might be for a particular audience. Not everyone is going to enjoy a slow burn romance, whether it starts with insta-love or a little more caution, but I think that if that’s your thing her characters will be enough to keep you coming back.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**
Well, I’m reading Austin’s (Pike’s Brother) book now but just wanted to say something about all the books in the 13 Heatwave book series that directly relates to the immediate family, as well has the Author and this series in general. The fact is, you really can’t read one without wanting to read them all so get on the Gallo train and enjoy! If you are a Gallo girl and a Chelle Bliss fan ( which you should be if you’re not) you know that this series is about the second generation of the Florida Gallo Family. The Gallo Family’s primary business in the USA is Inked, the Tattoo Shop which all the Gallos own jointly. The Gallos that are involved in other endeavours include vehicle and bike repairs and customization, Investigations and Security, Medicine, Marketing, Design, Stylist, Music, Graphic Design, Retail, Bakery and Restaurant/Bar Ownership, organized Crime, Military, Sports, Creative Arts (Writing, Art) as well as ownership in the Wine Business through Vineyard Ownership in Italy(Old Money).I’m sure I’m missed some talents but the bottom line is that this Family and their lives are a must read. The first generation set of books should be your starting point. This second generation rocks. They include the stories of Gigi, Luna and Rosie (Joe and Suzy’s kids), Tamara and Asher (Anthony and Maxine’s kids) Lily and Stone (Mike and Mia’s kids), Nick (Thomas and Angels Son) and Carmello, Rocco and Trace (Izzy (Gallo) and James Caldo’s boys). The stories that Chelle Bliss writes about this family are filled with love, passion, humour, spicy love stories, acceptance, loss, gain and everything that the dream big Family that have each others backs would portray. Each family member is unique and interesting as are their partners and their stories are all different and heart warming with a side of intrigue and spice. Getting involved in the journey with this amazing family and this Writer are definitely in your best interest. So start by looking up this Author - CHELLE BLISS - start with The Gallos, then The Men of Inked Series, then The Men of Inked: Heatwave, then The Men of Inked: Southside (Chicago Cousins), The ALFA series and anything else this amazing author has written. You will fall in love with the Gallos and Chelle Bliss, guaranteed. I’m a fan and will re- read this series again and again for sure.
Cinder is book 13 of the incredible Men of Inked Heatwave series.
Asher Gallo is the Last man standing... in the Singles column that is. He's the last of the Florida Gallo that's free and Single. Asher doesn't have any intentions in changing that any time soon either. But fate has a funny way of dropping into your life and changing everything.
While Asher is helping his Grandma Washington at the grocery store he runs into an old friend (someone he did secretly want but he always thought he wasn't good enough for) Olive Thornberry. She is a sight to be seen too. Gone is the awkward bookworm he remembered from 10 years ago and in her place is a heart racing drop dead gorgeous woman. He can't believe she's back and is more than happy to see her. When his Gran invites her to their family dinner he can't believe it, he is thrilled to be able to reconnect with her. Olive I shocked to see her old crush and friend Asher Gallo after all these years. She still gets those butterfly flutters too. When she moved away almost 10 years ago he didn't leave her thoughts. Moving back to Florida to go to Grad School she's thrilled to be able to reconnect and is excited to rekindle their friendship. Sparks fly while their friendship quickly turns to more and Asher is on a journey to show her she's more than just another woman who passes through his life. He's determined to show her she's his ONE and ready to Lock It Down! Olive is more hesitant to see where their relationship is headed and is extremely independent. When he shows up to help her move home and then her place she was going to rent falls through Asher tells her she's staying with him. He's a man on a mission. However, when Asher Gallo's cousin comes to town in a whirlwind of trouble and is in need of the family's help to keep her safe. Their world explodes in chaos. Between Tates chaotic life of running from an MC in Chicago and Olive's brother against their relationship its pandemonium. Olive and Asher have a tough road to travel with obstacles thrown into their way at almost every turn. It true Gallo fashion many of our favorite characters come back to play a big role in keeping them safe. Asher is determined to never let Olive go and never put her in harm's way.
Cinder is absolutely amazing and gives us all the Gallo Family Feels we all love!
Cinder is the 13th book in the Men of Inked: Heatwave Series by Chelle Bliss, featuring Asher and Olive. Olive had a crush on Asher Gallo in high school but never said anything before she had to move away, because she was the quiet book nerd and he was the outgoing, popular guy. Ten years later, she’s back for grad school and she’s had a “glow-up.” Asher is blown away by his old friend from the moment they bump into each other, and with some loving meddling from his hilarious family, he decides he needs to convince her they are meant to be. Will he be successful, or will their flame burn out as fast as it sparked?
My oh my! How are we already up to the last Gallo in this generation of the Tampa branch?! Asher certainly did not disappoint! That boy knows what he wants, and he goes after it. Period. The chemistry between him and Olive is beyond spicy!!🔥🔥 His mouth might engage before his brain sometimes, and make you want to jump into the story and smack him on the back of the head, but you know that his intentions are good, and he has a huge heart. I’m not a big fan of the insta-love trope to be honest, but they did have the added unrequited crushes from years before. One major difference between this book and the others was the danger/suspense subplot was not directly related to Asher or Olive. It was about Tate Gallo, a Chicago cousin, who is running from trouble and flees to Florida for help. It was an interesting twist, and I look forward to more about Tate in the future!
The heart of this book, and the series, for me is the family. Yes, they meddle, and they are hilarious, but they love hard. If one Gallo loves someone, they all accept that person like it’s a blood oath. I love that! Bring on more Gallos! I’m here for it!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is book 13 in the Men of Inked:Heatwave series and while it absolutely could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the other books before this one as they introduce this generation of the family.
Ordinarily, I really enjoy this series. I get sucked in and never want them to end and really enjoy the characters. And I went into this book expecting the same thing to happen. But, it was just an ok read to me. Olive and Asher seemed to just go from 0-relationship with no actual chemistry. And I wasn't expecting that. Olive is a sweet, nerdy girl-and don't get me wrong, I liked her. But I am always expecting these kick butt women in these books, and she just wasn't that woman. Asher just seemed to completely change his character the very moment he met her, and that seemed slightly strange to me. I had a hard time picturing them together in my head. The writing itself is still great, and I did like the way it ended and the epilogue was sweet. I just couldn't connect with the characters the way I wanted. I'm hoping it's just a one off for me.
Cinder is the next installment in the Men of Inked: Heatwave series, but while I feel it helps to read them in order, you don't have to in order to enjoy them. Chelle Bliss never fails to entertain me with these Gallo family tales!
Asher Gallo works at the tattoo parlor with the rest of his cousins and like many of his other cousins, he has also been known as a player. He's young and he's enjoyed women, but when Olive Thornberry, a girl he knew back in school, returns to the Tampa area, his focus turns solely to her and away from any other woman.
Olive moved away from Tampa 10 years ago when her family chose to leave the area. Olive never forgot Asher and Asher never forgot Olive, but neither ever reached out while she was away from the area. Now that they are back in one another's lives, it doesn't take long for the feelings they have to rise to the surface. Olive is accepted not only by Asher, but by his entire extended family, giving her a sense of family she has always wanted. Will Asher be able to prove to Olive that he really is ready to settle down and this isn't just a short term thing for him?
One of the things I love so much about this series is the extended family. Having everyone involved and the banter is always so much fun. It adds so much to the story and everyone's different personality is always such a trip. Plus, we had the side story of Asher's cousin Tate, which I'm sure is setting us up for a forthcoming book, which was entertaining as well and added some edge of your seat excitement.
Cinder was another fantastic addition to this already awesome set of books. I have no doubt that Chelle Bliss will continue to add to it as well, to which I say, bring them on!

Tropes: insta-lust, small town, second chance, childhood crush, found family
Review: A spicy, instant love story between two people who meet years later in their hometown. Olive and Asher have a wonderful story and Asher’s family won my heart in this book. Chelle adds another great addition to the series with this book!
I liked how Olive was independent and forging her own path. I appreciated how she was more of a book nerd and brainiac. I felt like her quiet demeanor added more to the plot than if she had been outgoing and loud. I also enjoyed how she stood up to her brother about Asher and had them move past their drama. I adored how she never gave up and was a pillar of silent strength when everything heats up in this book!
Asher is a MMC who shocked me. His story is unique since I was expecting him to be a playboy but he is not. I enjoyed how his family razzed him and gave him trouble about his feelings for Olive. His grandma and sister were the best and were probably my favorite part of this book. I loved how Chelle included all his family group chats within his chapters since they added humor and wit. I felt like seeing him interact with them added to his character and allowed us to see who he was.
This book is a childhood crush and instant connection book. Olive and Asher’s story was better than I hoped and I enjoyed how Olive did not just give into Asher’s wants. I also enjoyed how it was not just steam and spice. I loved how all the characters added a complexity to the plot and I am hoping to see more of these two in future books!
Rating: 4/5, a sweet and spicy read that will leave you wanting the next book!
Once again, it's a true joy getting to hang with the memorable and entertaining Gallo family. Chelle Bliss has given us a sweet charmer in Cinder as another 2nd generation person gets their happily ever after. Asher Gallo was always known a player much like his cousins, who by the way feature very prominently in this book, but the return of one Olive Thornberry truly changes that moniker forever.
Although it's been 10 years since Olive moved away from the Tampa area, Asher never forgot her and once they are back in each other's orbits, long-held crushes on the other turn into oh, so much more. The book goes by at a steady pace, Olive finally feeling as if she really belongs, as the extended Gallo clan takes her in as one of their own right from the start. She and Asher find a good rhythm and it doesn't take much for this Gallo to live up to his name and be the protector of the woman who has stolen his heart.
The story is easygoing and full of great wit and the kind of love that I have come to cherish with each new book in this ever-expanding series. There is a subplot with cousin Tate, setting up her book next, that involves Thomas and James and their form of justice. Despite all the looming danger, it was great to see Olive let go of her book smart ways and let loose for a crazy tequila-fueled night with this Gallo cousin who may just be in more trouble than she first thought.
I always enjoy being back with this crew because there is nothing quite like Gallo love. Cinder keeps those crazy-good moments coming as Olive becomes one of the family, never looking back as she finally gets the man of her dreams in Asher, forever.
The Gallo/Caldo's are back for their very last outing. As last man standing and baby of the family Asher falls for an old-school friend. Who he hasn't seen in ten years. That is until she returns to Tampa and bumps into Asher and his sassy Grammy and is invited to a family event.
And it's fair to say Asher is hooked from that first reunion and his sister Tamara, brother in law Mammoth and cousins including Gigi tell him that he needs to lock her down FAST!!
But Olive is leaving town and won't be returning for a couple of months and although Asher thinks she's great he believes if things are meant to be they'll easily reconnect when she returns.
Although that doesn't stop them having one hot night together and talking of continuing when she returns.
Yet, Olive has been burned before, and her brother and a few old friends claim Asher is nothing but a player.
However, the attraction between them is undeniable and when Asher heads to Texas to accompany Olive on the drive back to Tampa things really change.
But do these two really have enough in common to survive and can Asher prove he is a player no more?
And with opinions and appearances from all the Gallos/Caldo's, plenty of spice and sweetness. Not to mention a little danger. Cinder was the perfect end to a fabulous next generation series. And I'm so excited that there are more stories to come next year with the Chicago Gallos! Starting with Tate who makes an unforgettable cameo appearance in this one.
My thanks to Chelle Bliss and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read an early copy of Cinder. 😊
** Book Review ** Book: Cinder by Chelle Bliss Star Rating: 4.7 stars Genre: Romance
Summary: Olive Thornbury only had one crush in high school, and his name was Asher Gallo. She was smitten with him from the first time she had laid eyes on him. But instead of acting on how she felt, she kept her nose stuck in a book, finding safety in words rather than emotions. Asher had never thought of Olive as anything more than a friend. She was aloof, preferring to read books. instead of spending time with her friends. And when she moved away almost a decade ago, their friendship quickly disintegrated. But when Olive returns to visit a local university, she never expected to run into a very grown-up and even more handsome Asher. And what starts off as a rekindling of an old friendship turns into a fiery relationship. Do the opposites have enough in common to go the distance? Or will their combustible chemistry cause the flames to turn everything into cinders?
Thoughts: I just finished this book, and I loved it! Great story, and being the first book I read in this series, I now wanna go back to read the rest. It’s a standalone but I think it’s great to get to read the stories of the other characters you’ll find in this one. Low spice level, but just so cute! I think there are several things in this book we can all identify with, family struggles, wanting to find our place, etc. Give it a chance, and let me know what you think!
Cinder is an insta love story that is sure to entertain any romance reader who loves a fast paced, low angst, large family romance. Chelae Bliss’ writing is comforting, clear and easily accessible. This story drops you swiftly into the plot, and introduces you to the large universe of character in this world that you will quickly grow to love. While this is the thirteenth book in the Men of Inked series, it does have an easy charm the can draw a new reader to this world into.
This is Asher and Olive’s romance. After these two happen to run back into each other they swiftly enter into a relationship, one easily encouraged by Asher’s extended family. This romance is very low angst and focus on a softer and sweet side of a quick and easy read. Because these two have know each other sense childhood the reader is told they have a teenage attraction that will carry them into this adult relationship. This novel is really deals with situational moments between the couple, showing how they clearly care for the other and start to learn to work together as they trust their feelings and fate.
If you love a large family series, along the lines of Kristen Proby or Bella Andre’s novels, I think you will find a comfort and ease in this series by Chelle Bliss. This is the first in this series I have read and I do see the draw of this family and I do look forward to checking in on past novels and seeing other characters get their happily ever afters.
Thank you so much to Valentine PR for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
**I received a free, advanced copy of this book for reviewing purposes. Thank you to the author, Chelle Bliss, and to Valentine PR for including me in this release!**
Olive has returned to her hometown to look at the grad school she'll be attending in the fall. She runs into Asher and his grandmother, who invite her to join them at a family party that night. As soon as the grandmother calls her "kalamata," I knew I'd love the characters. And I read the entire book straight through in one sitting.
Olive and Asher jump into their new relationship almost immediately. But at the same time, it takes a long time for them to reach a mutual understanding when it comes to the seriousness of their relationship. And that's mainly because Oliver is hesitant to fully give in to her feelings. After all, she knows he was not a one-woman man before now, and her older brother has always hated him to the point of him telling Olive to stay away.
I really enjoyed this book. But, I do think I wasn't able to enjoy it to the fullest because I've never read any books from the series. I think if I had, I wouldn't have struggled to keep all of the characters straight, and probably would've enjoyed seeing little peeks at the lives of previous main characters. This may not be true in this instance, but for me it has been way in every series I've read that is structured like this. So I think it's a safe bet. That being said, you can absolutely enjoy the book as a standalone.
