In this game of love, winning is not an option.

The Lonnigans, Book 2

Lucas Lonnigan thinks he’s finally gotten the best of his twin brother, until he discovers his half of a date-swap is none other than metal artist Belinda Riggs. A leather-dipped Goth queen who considers him a cross between a pin cushion and a science project—and the woman he’s loved forever.

Belinda isn’t exactly overjoyed to see him, either. In her opinion, love means becoming a punching bag, and she won’t be anyone’s doormat. Lucas is too dangerously tempting to allow within striking distance of her heart, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting.

After one blazing night of passion, Lucas finds himself locked out of Belle’s life with seemingly no chance to get back in. With nothing left to lose, Lucas makes a final play and appeals to the one thing Belle can’t say no to—a dare. Winner take all.

Lucas may think this crazy game will decide their relationship, but she sees it as her chance to finally set him free—and maybe indulge in the sexiest goodbye of her life…

Story may sizzle your undies off. Includes pigheaded hero with a cranky heart of gold, bitchy heroine with a flamethrower, massively inappropriate behavior, make-up / break-up sex of the sinful kind…and a puppy!

5 stars contemporary romance

When The Lonnigans series first caught my roving eye, it was this book that I knew would deliver everything that I crave for as a romance reader. Lucas Lonnigan definitely took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions that refused to let go long after I finished his story. Even when I was reading All of You (the 1st book in this series) before this, it was the glimpses of Lucas that held my attention and deep down inside I just knew that his smoldering intensity would demand nothing less than the ultimate surrender of all my emotions – and he certainly did that and more.

Older than Kyle by just ten minutes, Lucas is perceived as the reserved and quiet one compared to his happy-go-lucky twin. Having made a career for himself analyzing numbers, no one would have believed that beneath the brooding facade that he presents to the world lies a heart that had jumped right out on its own and gone ahead and fallen for his neighbor and childhood friend Belinda Lynn Riggs when he had just been six years old.

Belinda is one of the most complex heroines I have come across in the hundreds of romances that I have managed to read till now. She is prickly as a hedgehog, has deep rooted issues about commitment, trust and love as a result of a turbulent childhood spent with parents who had had a violent sort of love for one another that had taken its toll on the family of seven, more so on Belinda who is the eldest and who took care of the younger ones. When the Briggs move in next door to the Lonnigan’s suburban home, in Lucas Belinda finds someone who understands her and someone who really sees who she is beneath the persona she presents to the rest of the world.

Their friendship certainly takes on a new meaning when at the age of 18, on prom night, an innocent touch erupts into a passion that refuses to be denied, a passion that ties Lucas and Belinda forever struggling to come to terms with a love so fierce that it refuses to be tamped down and ignored, and accept the fact that they are made for one another. However, Belinda’s past always keeps on haunting any attempts on Lucas’s part to show her how good that they can be together until finally Belinda drives Lucas away with her stubbornness that prevents her from letting go of the past.

This story is so very good that I didn’t want to put it down regardless of the fact that I had to wake up early morning for work today. At work, I was antsy the whole day, missing Lucas and his smoldering sensuality that kept the pages turning until my eyes couldn’t focus any longer from the need to slumber. There were times that I really wanted to hate Belinda for what she puts Lucas through, but she made up for all of it so beautifully in the end. If I hadn’t already been half in love with Lucas before, the way he calls Belinda Belle would have sealed the deal for me.

I absolutely loved the epilogue which was the one thing that was missing from book 1 in this series. However Ms. Tenorio has redeemed herself in my eyes by providing a most fitting and beautiful epilogue which couldn’t have made me anymore happier! A great two book series, each one of which can be read as a standalone title without much hassle is highly recommended for those who love their romances with a touch of humor and a high dose of sensuality that goes a long way in making the story a memorable one.

Lucas Lonnigan has been in love with Belinda Riggs all his life. When he discovers that his twin brother Kyle has plans to meet the Goth artist, he institutes the idea that they switch dates. Kyle will go out with his date, while Lucas goes out with Belinda. Kyle agrees and Lucas is overjoyed.

Belinda is not happy to see Lucas. Especially as tonight is the night that she was going to attempt to seduce Kyle to overcome the deep-seated feelings she’s had for Lucas all her life. So, he is the last person she expected to see walking through the door of the restaurant. However, their passion cannot be denied, and the evening ends with them making love. However, Belinda is still not convinced that they can have a relationship and Lucas is determined to prove her wrong, by any means necessary.

ALL OR NOTHING is the second book that I’ve read by Ms.Tenorio and overall I’ve had the same feelings for this release that I had for the first book in the series. Ms. Tenorio is a gifted storyteller who excels at writing three-dimensional heroes. Her heroes are compelling and really make you wish they were real so that you could move heaven and earth to find a man like that. When I read the first book in the series, I didn’t think that I’d like Lucas as much as I liked Kyle. I was happy I was proven wrong. Lucas was an amazing man and his strength, warmth, and caring nature kept me turning the pages.

I only wish that Belinda, the heroine, was as skillfully engaging as Lucas was. Belinda is a tortured heroine. While I’ve read many, many stories with many tortured heroines before I had a hard time feeling sympathy for Belinda. To be frank, I didn’t like her. ALL OR NOTHING was hard for me to read because of the mean and callous things Belinda does to Lucas in attempts to push him away from her. These things include destroying his gifts and throwing her desire to be with his twin brother instead in his face all the time. I mostly felt as if Belinda needed to be a psychological study on the effects of how abuse as a child affects your relationships as an adult rather than a heroine in a romance novel. I put ALL OR NOTHING aside hoping that my feelings would change, because the writing IS very well done and Lucas is a dreamboat, but they did not. I believe the reason why I found it hard to connect with Belinda is that their seemed to be a lack of self-awareness to her actions. She didn’t seem to care or show remorse for how her behavior was effecting others. Maybe I would’ve cared about her more if I had a deeper understanding of her motives, or felt that she felt sorry for acting the way she was. I didn’t get that.

Despite my issues with ALL OR NOTHING, that wouldn’t stop me from not reading Dee Tenorio’s work and I look forward to reading more of her writing.

I’ve had a couple of second books of a series outshining the first lately. All or Nothing is in that category for me. And it surprises me, because I wasn’t that thrilled with Lucas in All of You, but Ms. Tenorio turned that around on me and I ended up loving him quite a bit.

In All of You, Kyle and Lucas switch dates and Kyle finds the love of his life. We pick up in this book as Lucas realizes the woman his brother was to meet is none other than Belinda, who he’s traded barbs and insults with forever and who he’s actually in love with but who wants nothing to do with him.

It’s not that Belinda doesn’t want Lucas. She’s afraid of what a relationship with him will be like, more than likely a copy of her parents’, domestic violence and all. So she’d rather keep him at arm’s length than give her heart to him, only to have it pulverized. Love to her means being battered down in every way imaginable.

But after a mind-blowing night together, Lucas is not going to allow Belinda to push him away anymore. He tosses a wager her way, knowing she won’t be able to resist — all or nothing between them. This is his chance to show her how being together can be for them, and the man does it up right, even if he stumbles a time or two, which is that much more endearing.

Belinda does her best to discourage him, returning his gifts (even the puppy! — which was difficult for her to do), keeping the insults at an all-time high, but Lucas has stamina. I really enjoyed it when Lucas’ bet included her dressing as she used to instead of in her standard goth get-up. Terrific scenes from a friend helping her get ready for their date to Lucas’ reaction to the Belinda he used to know. And there’s a lot of nicely done gems just like that throughout the book.

I’m surprised I didn’t get a little annoyed with Belinda’s poor me attitude, but Ms. Tenorio makes her so likable from the beginning, I felt for her and cheered for her more than being annoyed with her. For what she’d been through, she deserves some happiness, and the only thing I wish is it wouldn’t have taken her so long to see Lucas is that happiness. But she has to do it in her own time.

This is a fun sequel. The banter between Lucas and Belinda is entertaining, while their doubts, vulnerabilities, and Belinda’s past keep you centered on what’s at stake for them. It’s definitely all or nothing.

My review cross-posted from Joyfully Reviewed: http://www.joyfullyreviewed.com/new-r...

When Lucas Lonnigan agrees to swap dates with his twin, he thinks he’s gotten the better part of the deal. Until he discovers who his new date is: Belinda Riggs, the hostile metal artist who loves nothing more to than to piss him off…and who also happens to be the love of his life. He and Belle have been circling each other for years and everything culminates into a blazing night of passion. Lucas swears he’s done with Belle, but he finds he can’t get her out of his heart. Yet how can he possibly get through to Belle, whose past makes her associate being in love with allowing oneself to be abused? Lucas comes up with the one thing Belle can’t resist – a dare. Because this Lonnigan is it in to win his soul mate and he won’t settle for less than all of her.

Dee Tenorio manages the impossible in All or Nothing. She takes two patently disagreeable characters and makes them utterly endearing, even in their grouchiness. Lucas and Belinda are never going to win any charm awards, but Ms. Tenorio makes them understandable, relatable, and engaging, which is better than sweetness any day. Lucas and Belinda are clearly made for each other, but in their effort to do what they think is best for the person they love, they push each other away. My heart ached for them and, though I sometimes I wanted to shake Belinda for striking out at Lucas, her actions were realistic. Yet while it’s a hard road to happily ever after for Lucas and Belinda to travel, All or Nothing definitely isn’t all sturm und drang. When Lucas and Belinda actually make things work between them, it’s absolutely beautiful to read. Not to mention, the passion between Lucas and Belinda is volcanic in nature and it’s fantastic to watch the explosion. All and all, I found All or Nothing to be a wonderful rollercoaster of emotions and I plan on going for another ride again soon!

Really enjoyed this one. We met Lucas and Belinda in All of You, but we got to understand them in this one! Their story was more emotional and deep than Kyle and Jessica's, and better for it. I like this author's work and am looking forward to more. It probably doesn't hurt that a couple of her books, like these, have been set in my neck of the woods. Some of the references aren't perfect, but close enough to know that there is some familiarity with the locale. Perhaps the changes are intentional, I don't know.

I didn't finish this one because I felt the set up was very artificial. Lucas and Belle are drawn together and had a night together in high school years ago. Because he said the wrong thing immediately after and her feeling are hurt they spend the next 12 years apart. He loves her and while she is drawn to him, she thinks she they will be like her parents (father was an alcoholic) if they are together.

This was really frustrating and unbelievable. The childish and irrational main characters are supposed to care about each other yet they never have a kind word for one another, and are hostile toward each other.

I'm such a sucker for stories where someone pines for a person they think doesn't want them. And so I liked this, but at the same time it wasn't brilliant.
It wasn't a ''bad'' story don't get me wrong it just didn't make me fall in love.

This was a 'lovers at cross-purpose' story, which is usually not my favorite trope. I did understand where they were coming from, though. I've read the first one and think the author did a great job of dove-tailing the bits that they two had in common, presenting them from a different pov.

I liked this better than the first one. This was more plausible and somehow hotter. It was nice to see what happened a bit with the first couple also.
