Jonah Mills is content keeping a low profile on the Sweet Briar Ranch, drumming up business for their crop-dusting service and learning how to be a rancher after years in the Air Force. His marriage was a mistake he doesn't intend to repeat.

Darby Woods comes to Sweet Water with Amber, her adopted daughter, looking for Amber's father, just as a group of girls make a video that goes viral on social media. The town is swarmed with ladies looking to be the lady with the Three Old Coots, and, while not intending to be in the running, Darby is somehow chosen.

Her new gig is great, except it doesn't pay anything. So, she takes a clerk job on Sweet Briar Ranch, where the man she's looking for lives, only he doesn't realize he's a father and she doesn't want to hurt her daughter if he isn't interested in fulfilling his responsibilities.

But when her daughter's birth mother shows up in Sweet Water to take her away from Darby, can she trust that Jonah will be the kind of father Amber needs? Can she find more than just a father for Amber, and maybe true love for herself as well?

Jonah and Darby’s story makes me smile while also inspiring me. It features a matchmaking steer, a host of beloved characters from other books written by Jessie that are set in Sweetwater, North Dakota, and a truly inspiring marriage counselling session. Both Darby and Jonah value their faith, honesty, honor and loyalty. Their word is their bond and they both put doing what’s best for a child ahead of what they may want. They both believe that young Amber’s gift is to be nurtured and encouraged, but never exploited for monetary gain. I loved how they instantly connected and not only felt a pull toward each other, but also had an innate sense of trust in each other. They both trusted God to guide their decisions and to help them do what was best for Amber. They both took the pastor’s words during his marriage counselling to heart and proceeded to incorporate those lessons into their marriage. They built a strong foundation of friendship, trust and communication in their marriage even before love entered into it.

Jessie has once again given her readers a story that imparts faith, wisdom and inspiration while also being entertaining and engaging. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I am never disappointed with a book written by Jessie Gussman, and she comes through again with this one. Darby is a single Mom who adopted Amber as soon as she was born. The birth mother, Nora, had wanted an abortion but Darby had talked her out of it with the promise of helping her through her pregnancy and adopting her baby. Now that eight years have passed since Amber's birth, Darby sells her catering business and moves to Sweet Water to find Amber's birth father. His name is Jonah and he lives on Sweet Briar Ranch with several retired Air Force veterans who are starting a crop dusting business. When Darby and Amber arrive in Sweet Water they are greeted by Billy, the town's Highlander steer mascot and matchmaker. He seems to be doing his job, because he manages to get Darby, Amber, and Jonah together right outside the diner. Darby manages to get two jobs and a place to live the same day she arrived in town. Another reason, Darby moved to Sweet Water was to get away from Nora who wanted to exploit Amber as a piano prodigy and get rich. Darby never told Amber that she was adopted. I highly recommend this book as a Christian clean romance with incredible characters and good life lessons. I received an ARC from the author for my voluntary and honest review.

How Does Darby become the Lady for the "3 Old Coots and a Lady" TikToc channel?

God Redeems our sins, but our sins have consequences. Jessie Gussman take a unique look at this, and adds a Lifetime 💞 to it, in "Just A Cowboy's Secret Baby (Flyboys of Sweet Briar Ranch in North Dakota)! This is the 6th 📗 in the Series. It's best understood if you 📖 it in chronological order.

The Story starts with Sweet Water's matchmaking Steer scaring Darby; and Jonah rescuing her and her daughter Amber. He ends up hiring Darby as the Bookkeeper for his Sweet Briar Ranch. She has shocking news for Jonah, but how can she know if he's trustworthy? How Does God bring Darby and Jonah into a 💗 and more? I Highly Recommend You get lost in this Wonderful, Inspirational, Witty, Page-Turning, Western Romantic 💎, to find the answers!

I ❤️d it so much, that I had a really hard time putting it down. I ❤️ that characters from past 📚 in the Series, appeared in this Novel. I'm really looking forward to JG's next 📗. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just a Cowboy's Secret Baby is a sweet story of how Darby and Amber leaves Maryland to go to Sweet Water, North Dakota in search of Jonah, Amber's daddy. Darby thought Jonah had a right to know he had a daughter and wanted to see if he was the type of man that would be a good daddy to her. Darby also needed help to keep Amber away from her birth mama, Nora, Jonah's ex-wife. Amber has a talent playing the piano and Darby who had adopted Amber the day she was born wanted her not to be exploited. Nora had stayed in touch with Darby and decided that Amber should be taken to New York for her talent to be made known to the world and collect the fortune she would make. Jonah was in agreement of keeping Amber out of the spotlight but wanted her to be allowed to enjoy her talent. Jonah's idea to protect Amber from Nora was for he and Darby to have a marriage of convenience. But can Jonah and Darby raise Amber in the quaint town of Sweet Water with no interference from Nora?

I received an advanced copy for my review. I give this story 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

Sweet Water, North Dakota has had at least three marriages of convenience. Is it something in the sweet water, or is the town blessed with matchmakers such as a quilting group, a group of young girls, and a match-making steer? Sweet Water is the type of town all of us would love to live in.

Darby comes to Sweet Water looking for her adopted daughter’s biological father to help her protect her daughter from people who want to exploit her daughter Amber’s talent. Upon arriving in town, Sweet Water’s matchmaking steer brings Darby, Amber, and Jonah together. Jonah seals the deal when he serves Darby and Amber “Marry me Chicken” from the diner. When Darby realizes that Jonah is Amber’s father and tells him, they decide on a marriage of convenience.

As with all of Jessie Gussman’s books, this one is a delight to read. It contains much humor, godly principles, and biblical marital counseling.

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

In Just a Cowboy’s Secret Baby, Darby and her adopted daughter need protection from the girl’s birth mother. Darby goes to Sweetwater to look for the birth father only to have Billy the steer lead her straight to him. Darby’s daughter Amber is a piano prodigy and Darby is desperate to protect her from the birth mother who wants to use the girl to make money. When Jonah (one of the Flyboys) discovers he is the father, he immediately steps up to the plate to care for the girl. Never knowing of the girl’s existence because his ex-wife ran off, Jonah realizes his life is about to change dramatically.

Jessie Gussman delivers another compelling story that keeps the reader turning the pages. Again, looking at questions of what should someone sacrifice for their family. What is the best thing for a child and a particularly gifted child? Another interesting story in the Just a Cowboy series.

5/5, another great read from Jesse Gussman.

This book introduces Darby, who travels to Sweet Water in search of her adopted daughter’s father after finding out that the birth mother had never told the father she was pregnant.

Jonah is shocked to discover that his failed marriage had resulted in a pregnancy, and he was the father of an eight year old girl. In typical Jesse Gussman style, these two characters enter into a marriage of convenience in order to provide a stable home for their daughter, and fall in love along the way.

My favorite part of these books is that each one centers on different characters, but the same characters recur throughout the series. It allows you to get to know each character and their background, and makes Sweet Water feel like a real place, filled with old friends from previous novels.

He hasn’t met his daughter. She just wants to be fair.
This book has a different twist to secret baby genre. Darby is the adoptive mother of a baby the mother, Nora, initially wanted to abort. Darby adopted Amber right after the birth and no parent names were listed on the birth certificate. As time passes, Nora has sporadic contact with Darby and Amber during which she mentions her ex-husband’s name and that he never knew about the pregnancy. Now Nora is threatening to try to take Amber back. Darby flees heading toward the city she believes Amber’s father lives in hoping he will help her protect Amber. All the revelations, shocks, and surprises make for a fun read. Please note this book is a Christian themed novel and has a large amount of doctrinal discussion. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Great story. Secret baby is always a hard trope as there’s usually subterfuge going on to make it a secret and often it’s outside of marriage, so it’s touchy with a clean/wholesome designation. Jessie handles it like the pro she is, even when difficult issues raise up. This is vintage Jessie with the two main characters trying to figure things out using a Bible foundation in how they approach difficult things like marriage of convenience and ex-wife all at once showing up. It was supposed to be about videos with the Old Coots but other than Darby being part of them there’s not a whole lot happening with that project-apparently we’re going to see it throughout the series. Billy the Highland cow makes a cameo appearance but the pig is taking a break this book.
I received this as an arc, clean with Christian themes.

I really loved this book because, as in every book by Jessie Gussman, we have romance – obviously! - but we also have a lot of good advice, God is everywhere: in the character’s hearts, in their reactions to the situations they go through, in their relationships with others… Each time I read one of her books, I highlight a lot of excerpts and they help me to grow closer to God, to try to be a better Christian in every aspect of my life. To develop character and integrity! And I thank the author for this opportunity!

I only rate the book 4 stars because the male character is divorced and I don’t like the trope “marriage after a divorce” but Jonah is an ideal character despite this turn of events in his life!

Jonah has retired from the air force and is living in Sweet Water with his crew. He had a bad marriage and doesn't intend to ever marry again.
Darby worked at a crisis pregnancy center in college. She met a lady who agreed to not have an abortion if Darby would adopt her baby. It is 8 years later and Amber is a sweet little girl. Pressure from the birth mother pushes Darby to sell her business and travel to Sweet Water in search of Amber's father. In her interactions with the birth mother, she realizes that the father doesn't know about Amber.
Jonah and Darby meet when she first gets to town....thanks to that matchmaking cow named Billy.
Such a fun and sweet book! I highly recommend.

Enjoyed Jonah and Darby's story. Darby was raising her adopted daughter Amber, alone. Jonah was starting a business with his soldier buddy's having no clue his ex-wife Nora, had been pregnant with his child. On one of Noras rants she told Darby the name of Amber's father. Being frustrated with Nora, Darby packed up and went in search of Jonah. I loved the first person they ran into was Jonah and how caring he was even before he knew the truth. I stayed up to finished reading. I had to know the ending. If you like clean wholesome stories with unexpected twists, you can't go wrong with 'Just a Cowboys Secret Baby'. I highly recommend. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.

Another fabulous story from Jessie Gussman. I really loved this story about Darby and Jonah. Darby adopter a baby girl that she kept the mom from aborting. Jonah, the father didn’t even know he had a child. This is a beautifully written story, I love chapter 16, so much fantastic advice to think about. I was glad that Darby told Jonah about Amber right away and didn’t keep it from him for long. I like the match making steer, Billy, who seems to get people together in so many different ways. Then there is the magic meal that gets them together as well, this book kept me smiling. 😊 This is another favorite book of mine; I can’t believe that Jessie can keep writing books that become a favorite of mine.

What a wonderful twist on the Secret Baby trope. Jessie has used this trope before and each time she comes up with a unique way that the man had no idea he was a father. In this story the baby was adopted at birth by Darby Woods when the birth mom, Nora was convinced not to have an abortion. The birth mom had left her husband and then they divorced and he had no idea she had a baby.

Darby Woods had kept in contact with Nora after the adoption and she revealed the name of ex-husband and that he had no idea he was a father. Darby began to search for him and needing to move from Maryland, she decided to come to Sweet Water with her daughter Amber to try to find Jonah Mills. She had sold her catering business before moving but she would be looking for some type of job if she decided to stay in Sweet Water. Finding Jonah was her first priority.

After Jonah Mills left the Air Force he settled in Sweet Water and had purchased a share in the Sweet Briar Ranch, his buddies had a plan to open a crop dusting service. They needed to hire someone to keep the books and cook and clean for them. With the town filled with women trying to get picked for the Three Old Coots and a Lady cooking show, Jonah notices a new lady with her daughter. They caught his attention when they were afraid of the town steer. Finding out that she was in need of a job and a place to stay, Jonah offers her the job at the ranch that comes with room and board. He has no idea how his life is about to drastically change.

What would happen when Jonah discovered he had an eight year old daughter? Would Darby and Jonah realize the Lord had a plan for them to raise Amber together?

This is another wonderful story that is filled with spiritual insights.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

A beautiful Christian romance.

Darby Woods is in Sweet Water looking for her daughter’s father. Will he accept her? Will he deny her? She will have to trust God’s plan for her daughter’s future.

Jonah Mills and his partners need to hire someone to keep their books and with a little luck provide cooking and general housekeeping duties on the Sweet Briar Ranch. Darby has the skills they need for the ranch and her young daughter is a joy to be around. If his ex-wife had been like Darby he would probably still be married.

This is an enjoyable, clean romance. Darby and Jonah put their trust in God to direct their futures and He doesn’t disappoint them. I received a free book but this review is voluntary and honest.

There is so much encouragement in every book Jessie writes. No other author writes such authentic characters. This book is no exception.
This story of an adoptive mom finding her child’s biological father is a great twist on an adoption story.
Darby is surprised when the first person she meets in Sweet Water is Jonah Mills, her daughter’s biological father. She came here to introduce him to his daughter but now she’s not sure how to go about it. When he offers her a job it seems like the perfect situation except for one problem, her feelings might just get in the way.
Jonah and Darby are perfect for each other and Amber is a wonderful addition to their little family. She’s the sweetest kid.I loved this book.

Darby becomes friends with a woman planning on aborting her baby. Instead she had the baby and Darby ends up adopting it. They stay friends which becomes a complication later on when the child gets older.
Darby decides she needs to leave town with her child, so goes looking for the birth father Johan Mills.
She accidentally becomes the woman the Three Old Coots want to help them out. Since this job doesn't pay she also gets a job at Sweet Briar Ranch where she can get to know Johan before telling him the truth.
When the birth mother shows up she has to come clean and hope Johan steps up.
Darby can only hope the chance she took coming to look for the Johan was the right thing to do.

Jonah meets Darby and her daughter, Amber, when they show up on the streets of Sweet Water. Little does he realize that Amber is his biological daughter that he never knew about.
I generally do not like secret baby books. I prefer clean romance, and if someone doesn't realize they have a child, usually there is a not a very moral reason involved. Knowing this author, she stays on the straight and narrow while writing, and she definitely made the best out of the secret baby situation.
I appreciated the marriage counseling with the pastor. So many good points were brought up that should be told to every couple either married or thinking about marriage.
I received an e-copy of this book from the author. That in no way influenced my review.

Jonah is enjoying living on Sweet Briar Ranch with his retired military buddies, trying to get a few businesses off the ground. When he finds Darby and her 8 year old daughter Amber cornered by the town Highlander steer, Billy, he comes to the rescue pointing out that Billy has been working as the town matchmaker in the past. Jonah and Darbys story is delightful! I love this sweet, clean marriage of convenience romance with the kind endearing people of Sweet Water North Carolina cheering them on. I always know I can count on Jesse Gussman for lots of wonderful marriage wisdom served along with her great stories!

I always enjoy Jessie Gussman’s books. They’re highly entertaining with humor, love, and God’s life lessons for all of us!

Darby adopts a baby girl, April, who grows into a young child prodigy. The birth mother seeks to exploit the child, so Darby sells her catering business and moves with April to Sweet Water, North Dakota. She seeks April’s birth father, Jonah Mills and immediately finds him.

Jonah is delighted to know he has a daughter and suggests that he and Darby marry in order to provide April a proper home. They experience humor, respect, honor, and a mutual love for April’s best interest as they both follow God’s leading. Together, they find love!

I don't know how she does it, but Jessie Gussman is the queen of the meet-cute! This is another one involving a cow. So funny! I love what brings Darby and Jonah together. This is a creative secret baby story. I truly love how each of these characters has integrity, loves God, and is working to be their best self. They actually put others first consciously. They are working on their relationship each moment. No matter what has brought them together, they are willing to do whatever it takes to make their marriage strong. I loved reading this book, and it gave me ideas to take into my own relationships and inspired me to do and be better.

This book was a twist on the usual secret baby type story. Darby adopts a baby from a woman whom she counseled at a crisis pregnancy center. Later she sets out to find the father of her adopted daughter to let him know she exists. Her daughter had a very special gift that complicates things. How will she find the father? How will he react to the news and his daughter, or to Darby's story? Can they share parenting responsibilities? This was a very good and clean story that is well worth reading. Jessie's Godly relationship advice is very present here like many of her books and very much accurate. I always love that part of Jessie's books as it helps me in my personal life.

Another heartwarming addition to the Fly Boy series by Jessie Gussman.
Darby is in town looking for her daughter, Amber’s father. On her first day in town she encounters Jonah, Amber’s father; he’s not aware he’s a father. Jonah is a former Air Force man who moved to town with his buddies and bought Sweet Briar Ranch.
Darby adopted Amber at birth but the birth mother stayed in the picture. When Amber is discovered to to be a piano prodigy, the birth mom wants her back so she can make money off her. Darby hopes to find an ally in Jonah.

Darby adopted Amber as soon as she was born. Her birth mother didn’t want her, but allowed Darby to adopt her instead of getting an abortion. 8 years later Darby takes Amber and goes looking for her father. Jonah had no idea Nora was pregnant when she left him.
And yes, the Highland cow has a cameo.
If you have read any of he author’s books, you know that this book is full of good advice, life lessons, and in this one a little pre-marital counseling that many people could have used to hear. A sweet story in Sweet Water.

A big thank you to the author for providing an ARC copy for me to proof and review

I absolutely loved this book by Jessie Gussman, and was so blessed by it.
Jonah and Darby are perfect together, and what a gifted and special girl Amber is. The way Jonah treats Darby is so special. She was so nervous telling him about Amber, he listened to all she had to say and immediately stepped up to be a father to the daughter he had no idea he had. I don't write a second synopsis, as there's one already.
There are so many interactions with the Lord, which is so incredibly special to me. I find that those pop into my head numerous times during the day.
Get this, you won't be sorry.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

This Series Just Keeps Getting Better!

I am amazed how Jessie Gussman is able to put such interesting, fun characters into cravable stories still weaving bible verses, morals and common sense into a story that I can’t put down. She is never preachy or drawn out but instead is able to make relatable characters with real life problems that we all can feel a kinship with! I must emphasize fun, fun and funny at times crazy and quirky moments that keep me guessing. Yet as with all of Jessie’s books there are parts of this story that I would gladly share to advise and encourage others wanting a better life!

True Christian Romance

I liked this story. The plot, the characters, the setting, and the emotions were nicely done. I liked it so much that I bought it while I had borrowed it from KU. That being said, The main reason I loved #6 the best was the Christian elements. These characters act out their faith, even in a modern setting. They talk about real issues and apply scripture. (I love that about Jessie Gussman's Christian Romance novels.) This book stands out because of the dialog between the characters. They offer excellent advice that applies to my life, too. They redirect us to our "handbook" for life, stressing the importance of reading God's Word.

Jessie's books are edifying. I would say they are also light reads, but she does tackle difficult topics. Bad things happen to the characters or because of their choices, but there is redemption, grace, and forgiveness. She weaves in truths about how we should leave as Christians, which serve as reminders as I listen along.

Love the pig and cow story woven through this series.

I've listened to her books on YouTube, "Say With Jay." He's a great narrator, even for the women's voices. It's the type of book that you can listen to while doing something else. Any can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend starting the series in order as several connect characters and places.
