If you commit a crime on Vaharis 6, there’s more than one way to work off your sentence…
Dayn only wanted to find his friend and bring him home. He never imagined he’d end up imprisoned on Vaharis 6, but he’d been in the wrong place at the absolute wrong time. He’s terrified when the warden sells him to an auction house, so he agrees when presented with a chance to have some say in who purchases him. He’s certain he’s being lied to again—it’s not possible someone simply wants to sleep with him for a few months and then let him go, no matter how eccentric this man is or what the special circumstances are.
But the surprises keep coming when Dayn meets his new “benefactor” and gets pulled into his demanding, tentacled embrace…
Auctioned was another delightful addition to the Imprisoned series. It was both sweet and steamy.
We have Dayn, who gets imprisoned on Vaharis 6, one of the most notorious prisons, when he is caught in the crossfires of a bar brawl. However, he gets an opportunity to be freed when he is part of an auction. Calor, a well-known Cecaelia shifter artist, needs a partner to ride out his extreme heats with, and Dayn seems to be an ideal companion.
While he is unhappy about the arrangement and being sold off in such a manner, especially considering he is innocent, he decides to take on the opportunity. He is an omega and a merman shifter; his situation is precarious and the most likely outcome if he stays is death.
I enjoyed this story so much, and I loved how despite the start of their relationship, they slowly started developing feelings for one another. They both have reservations regarding trusting people because of their past and are scared to be the first ones to admit their feelings run deeper.
Victoria Vallo never fails to deliver on the steam, and Auctioned was no different. I loved the aphrodisiac aspect of Calor's natural "lube". Can I say how much I love tentacle sex now? I also learned I enjoy when tentacles are also used to caress and when one partner sucks on them. Also, the merman aspect of Daynn, when they have sex in their shifted form in the water....that was hot.
Overall this was a wonderful read and another great addition to the Imprisoned series. This series is like crack to me. It was short and steamy! I wonder if the next book will be about Jaqen or new characters. Either way, I will be excitedly awaiting for it.
So this is the #9 in the Imprisoned series and the series is slowly becoming a monster romance series.
I am giving this story 3.8⭐ and am rounding it up to 4⭐, because I think the books are getting better and if the series stays in the Monster domain, I'm here for it.
This story is about Dayn, an Omega siren shifter, so a merman, who's wrongfully acused and in Vaharis 6 prison. The warden is collecting a few prisoners for the auction for his rich clients and their specific needs, one of them being Calor, an aquatic shifter with tentacles. He's a very known, rich painter and devotes himself to work completely, lives on land, but experiences intense heats and for those he needs another being.
For all of us tentacle haters, this is definitely readable and sexy.
God, I hate tentacles! Never can read anything with tentacles, but believe it or not, this story is not cringey, the tentacles actually work.
Dayn's freedom is bought for 6 months of helping Calor with his heats. When they meet, the chemistry is a bit of love-hate, quite explosive and they get right down to it, because Calor possesses very powerful pheromones that make Dayn very willing.
Would it be considered non-consensual if pheromones are being used to make someone willing to have sex? You decide.
As far as I'm concerned, Dayn chose the lesser evil in that prison and I was glad to hear he was feisty and determined, he did like and enjoy Calor and when the pheromones wore off, they continued spending time together and having sex.
This novella was more focused on the relationship itself, so that was a big plus, the writing was so much better and again, the ideas original.
One thing that bothered me was how many of the intimate, important sex scenes were off-page. These two were aquatic creatures, they mated in the sea and yet we didn't get to read about it. In their human form, again, not reading about it, at least when it happened the first time. Something was mentioned later on, but I couldn't go pass the disappointment of not reading it when they were discovering each other sexually.
We do get spice for sure, but not the first, important parts - first time mating in the sea. They're were vers - who knew?? The Omega was topping the big tentacle guy, well shoot me for wanting to read about it!
Their love story is pretty sweet and Calor finally finds his mate. They get a nice epilogue and I'm so sorry that the books aren't more interconnected, because there are many great side characters whose stories I'd really enjoy reading, yet another book happens and it's a completely different scenery.
A bit of a pet peeve of mine; I know this is not erotica, but still, I get chicken pox when I read "they kissed passionately". I tend not to pick books where the kissing isn't detailed, yes, it's weird, but it's just how my mind works. The spice is really good, it's hard to find it these days, and I wish the author would just write every single thing down, because I'm sure it'd be very good, but please might she include some lips and tongues aswell?
I'm really hoping this series continues. It was a weak start, but I've binged it this week and now I can't get Vaharis 6 out of my bloody mind. The stories really picked up and the last 3 books took me by surprise.
Auctioned was a sort of enemies to lovers but sweet, age gap romance between the main characters, Dayn and Calor. Calor is the older, rich artist that needs someone to help him go through his heats. Dayn was essentially kidnapped/trafficked to be in the auction. It was only meant to be a temporary arrangement on the part of Calor. But fate has other plans.
