Can she accept an offer of help from a patient she’s attracted to?
Dr. Piper Hamilton is used to keeping on the fringes. She knows what it's like to be responsible for the death of someone you love and she'd do anything to protect herself from feeling that pain again. But now she's being stalked and a man she's been attracted to for years is offering her not only his protection but a chance at happiness as well. Only problem is he's a patient which makes him off limits.
Antonio "Arrow" Eden has been attracted to the pretty doctor ever since he met her, but after almost losing his life he's decided it's time to make his move. He's a fixer, a healer, and he'd do anything to wipe away the sadness he sees lurking in Piper's eyes. When he learns she's in danger he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, until he realizes he might be the biggest threat of all.
With a stalker circling closer, and demons from their pasts standing in the way, Arrow and Piper might never get a chance to have the happy ending they both desperately want.
USA Today bestselling author Jane Blythe writes action-packed romantic suspense and military romance featuring protective heroes and heroines who are survivors. One of Jane's most popular series includes Prey Security, part of Susan Stoker's OPERATION ALPHA world! Writing in that world alongside authors such as Janie Crouch and Riley Edwards has been a blast, and she looks forward to bringing more books to this genre, both within and outside of Stoker's world. When Jane isn't binge-reading she's counting down to Christmas and adding to her 200+ teddy bear collection!
Jane Blythe is one of my most favorite authors and for the first time, she ended a book with a cliffhanger. Sure, her books run in series and the characters keep making appearances, but each story is told before she moves on to the next, except for Lethal Risk. The hunkalicious, heroic men were left in a precarious position. They had been betrayed, set up, captured, tortured, and were wondering if they were going to make it out alive.
It had all begun with a survivalist that wanted to create utopia, his own version of it. I think we all know there is no such thing and his dream becomes perverted, thriving after his death. Who was running things now, they did not know. As he waited for his turn of torture he wasn’t sure he could survive, there came a bright light and a soft voice, “You buys ready to go home?”
Piper was a psychiatrist working at Prey Security. The guys were sent to her, but there was no way he was going to spill his guts to her. They had a mutual attraction going, but never acted on it. Piper had a past she kept hidden, but we all know that the past will rear its ugly head until it is dealt with. You can run, but you can’t hide.
When someone breaks into her apartment, her world changes. Not just for the bad, with a stalker out to get her, but for the good too. Prey Security rallies around her and she learns what it means to have family. They are a tight knit bunch and if you take on one of them, you take on them all.
I didn’t see the danger coming at her the way it did. It draw Piper and Arrow closer.
There are many things predictable about romantic suspense novels, but Jane Blythe manages to create a story that keeps me on my toes, throwing in a twist or a turn here or there. Of course, I do want a happy ever after and she delivers that too, all while making me crave the next book in the series. Who is the lucky guy that is going to find his happy ever after? What dangers will the couple face? Each and every one of these gorgeous, manly men put their lives on the line, so they all deserve whatever good life can offer.
Extreme Risk is book three in the Alpha Team series by Jane Blythe. Dr Piper Hamilton's motto is not to date one of her patients. After his last mission fails, Antonio "Arrow" Eden does not want to wait to take Piper on a date, and when he realizes Piper has a stalker, he realizes this is his chance to change Piper Hamilton's mind about him. Antionio's team got behind him to protect Piper. Will it be enough to shift Piper's mind? The readers of Extreme Risk will continue following Piper and Antonio to discover what happens.
Extreme Risk is another fantastic book by Jane Blythe and is enjoyable to read. I engaged from the first page with the story and the characters. I love Jane Blythe's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine throughout this book. Extreme Risk is well-written and researched by Jane Blythe. I like Jane Blythe's description of her settings of Extreme Risk, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
The readers of Extreme Risk will learn about the problems of traumatic brain injury and its effects on everyone around them. Also, the readers of Extreme Risk will learn about the role of medics in military operations.
Arrow and Piper’s story was great. They both had so much sadness that has kept them keeping people at arms length to avoid pain and hurt but Arrow is exactly what she needs to feel whole again
Jane Blythe is one of my go-to authors and I always rate her books as 5 stars, sometimes, however, a book comes along that you really feel is worth more than a 5 star review. I don't know why this book in particular really resonated with me, but all I can say is that this is a book that really stayed with me after I had finished it and I read it so fast that I reread it immediately to pick up the bits I had missed. Arrow and Piper were such a wonderful couple and their story was so multifaceted as they both dealt with overcoming their pasts. It was also great to catch up with the rest of the team after the traumatic events at the end of the last book. This novel has it all, romance, sex, betrayal, brotherhood and a crazy stalker. I really cannot recommend this book highly enough and am just devastated I have to wait now for the next one in the series.
From start to finish this story is intense. It starts where the last book left off. The guys are not in a good place.
Arrow has made up his mind he’s going after what he wants and he wants Piper.
If you're trying to woo me you shouldn’t be keeping secrets, you never know, being a good cook could give you a whole bunch of bonus points.”
She is the company therapist. After a childhood trauma she won’t let herself get to close to anyone. She also has a stalker who she’s terrified of.
This author has a way of grabbing you with emotions and suspense. The bad guys are so evil It’s not always easy to get through but the end is definitely worth it.
“Whatever. You are still a geek, Antonio Eden.” “But I'm your geek.”
Oh my gosh, this series gets better and better. I don’t know how this author does it but she does. Extreme Risk is an incredibly beautiful romance with an awesome suspense that has you literally sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation. From the very first page until the last, I was completely absorbed in the story.
Arrow, aka Antonio, is the medic in Alpha team and one very caring and protective man. Having always been this way when situations arise where he can’t protect others it truly hits him hard. It’s taken four years of flirting with Prey’s resident psychiatrist but he is totally smitten with Piper.
Piper is not so sure about dating a member of Prey, being very professional and wary she fobs him off even though she is attracted to Arrow. Her childhood trauma makes it difficult for her to form relationships. You could cut the sexual tension between them though, their chemistry is off the charts.
Slowly more and more information about the people behind Storm Gallagher and the terrorist plot to overthrow the government starts to emerge. The mystery of who is at the top of the criminal chain and why still remains, but as the puzzle pieces slot in, you see how involved the whole operation is and how intricate too. When the action and drama heats up so does your heart rate, my goodness what an exciting time. Be aware though—lots of emotions too.
A nail biter of a suspense story with a side of warm romance that I can’t recommend enough to everyone.
Utterly speechless, completely mind blowing and glued to the edge of my seat heart beating so freaking fast while anticipating what would happen from one second to the next . That’s exactly how I feel every single time I pick up one of Jane Blythe’s unforgettable and unputdownable romances. . Extreme Risk is the third installment in ( the prey security Alpha Team series as well as Arrow and Pipers journey. And trust me when I say it’s a emotional rollercoaster in every sense of the word . Arrow is the medic on the Alpha team . He’s a true alpha- he’s caring , and protective of the people who mean the most to him . And Piper is a psychiatrist / therapist who works for the prey team . She has not had the easiest of lives in fact she still deals with past trauma on a daily basis . Trauma that affects her ability to open up and let people in . But all that changed well certain circumstances bring these two together . Intrigue, suspense, non stop action, off the charts chemistry, angst , heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, drama , love , healing, tragedy, family , friendships, awesome world building, stalkers , revenge , twists and turns, wonderfully written characters that are so captivating, so unique and very multi layered and a storyline that is going to grab onto all your emotions so fast and pull at your heartstrings so completely. Before you even know what’s happening you’ll find yourself tumbling headfirst into a journey unlike you’ve ever been in before. A journey that will keep you up reading well into the early morning hours , leaving you dead on your feet the next day . But oh is it so worth it
3.5* Where did this book come from? It’s night and day with the other books.
I can’t believe this is the same author who wrote the rest of the series. Admittedly it had a slow start, and quite honestly Piper was a bit annoying at first. After a while it became amazing!!! I’m still in shock.
Piper is Prey’s psychiatrist. Something really bad happened in her childhood that affects who she is as an adult. She finds it hard to have normal relationships, like friends or boyfriends. Arrow/Antonio is Alpha teams medic. After something traumatic happens to their team, he realises life is short and pursues Piper who he has liked for years.
Piper is in serious danger from a man who was previously with Prey, until a severe head injury forced him out. Which he blames Piper for and I’ve got to say the tension ramped up and didn’t disappoint.
Just wow! I’m still in shock at how different this book was to the rest. There are a few spelling mistakes, nothing terrible. Arrow’s ptsd wasn’t really well written, but it’s a minor complaint.
This is such an exciting series of books, and they just keep getting better Piper is a psychologist who works for Prey security, she suffered a tragic tragedy when she was young but has moved on with her life. She has always felt an attraction to Alpha team member Antonio "Arrow", who likes to flirt with her but she is unsure if he is genuine and she also does not feel comfortable starting something with a patient. After returning from a dangerous mission, Arrow is done hiding his feelings for Piper and lets her know how he feels. Arrow has some tragedy in his past as well, and is still dealing with his last mission. When Arrow finds out Piper has a stalker he will stop at nothing to keep her safe. They grow closer, and explore their feelings & the explosive connection they feel. Piper also becomes close with Domino, whom I cannot wait to read more about!! Another great read from Jane Blythe
Let me first say this author nailed it with this book and second I freaking love this series. Antonio aka Arrow is a force to be reckoned with. You mess with the one's he loves he is coming after you. He is most definitely one heck of a protector. Piper is strong as they come, she may isolate herself from making friends but she will do anything to help someone else heal. She had a horrific childhood event that shaped her to be the person she is until Antonio did everything he could to draw her out and to realize that she was worthy of friends and to give him a chance of a relationship. Piper has become a victim of a stalker that is bound and determined to kidnap her and end her life. Can Antonio be her saviour before its too late or will they both lose everything. These two are awesome alone but together they make one hell of a couple. I highly recommend this book and series. This author amazes me with every book she writes.
This book has two completely different sides to it. On one side is a lovely romance that develops between the two main characters. On the other side is a dark and dangerous theme that runs throughout the whole story, even overtaking all else to become the main focus for a while.
If you are sensitive to some areas of violence, read this book with caution. It doesn't shy away from getting descriptive on some pretty nasty topics. I don't have any triggers as such, but even I had a bit of difficulty in reading a section of this book without cringing. And another section wasn't hard to read, but the topic was certainly unpleasant. All very appropriate to the story of the characters and their relationship though, and there was nothing excessive about the descriptions. It was just plain heavy stuff.
I'm really enjoying the Prey Security series & I'm looking forward to starting straight in on book 4.
This book is slightly different from the first two in the way that our main characters, Arrow, Alpha team member and Piper, the company's psychiatrist, have known each other for years before their story is set. Both characters have had a thing for each other, however, whilst Arrow has flirted with her for years, she has never taken him seriously and didn't want to acknowledge her own feelings for him since she believes it is a breach in patient/doctor ethics because they work for the same company and she is the only employed psychiatrist. This man is so thoughtful and goes up and beyond to find a way to help her feel comfortable to act on their feelings without her feeling like she's doing something wrong. This story is just as action packed as the previous ones, as the pair are pulled into the dangers surrounding the teams main focus mission of taking down the terrorist plan to other throw the government.
This book is phenomenal. It is not for the feint hearted that’s for sure but the story is amazing. A great story with incredible characters this is going to reel you in and hold you on the edge of your seat. Emotional, raw and full of so much suspense and drama I was not able to get this book or the character of Arrow and Piper out of my mind, such was the effect. I have been a huge fan of Ms Blythe’s writing for a long time and I know in my heart that I will be a fan for a long time to come. You could feel the labour of love as you read and know that a lot of time and thought has gone in to making this a story to remember. Loved it so very much and so excited for the next instalment in this amazing series. Ms Blythe has certainly outdone herself.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
2.5⭐ ⛸️🔪I already DNF the 2nd book of the series. And from Piper's pov the team isn't gaining plus points from me. ⛸️🔪Ok that was just her. ⛸️🔪I like piper and domino's connection. ⛸️🔪I'm really doubting prey securities skills. ⛸️🔪Yep you tell him domino. ⛸️🔪I really hate when they are late to the situation. I'm sure Pete gonna die but he still won imo. He kidnapped piper tortured and abused her again and again. Yeah I'm sure they'll rescue her alive at the end but they still failed to protect her and rescue her unharmed. After what happened to her does it even matter? I know it's realistic and can't control every bad thing in life, it'll happen no matter what. But as a reader it's still off-putting. ⛸️🔪I wish they spent more time showing us Piper healing at the end.

Dr. Piper Hamilton liked her job and was friendly but didn’t really have friends, she was still healing from a childhood drama and held herself back from people, certain people she was close to died. Antonio ‘Arrow’ Eden wanted something with Piper for the last four years and telling himself he’d act on it got him through the brutal torture sessions in Somalia.
A rogue operator has learned Piper’s trauma secrets and breaks into her apartment. Petrified, Piper lives in secret, unaware she’s still being stalked but she doesn’t let her Prey boss know how afraid she is or about her change. Arrow stumbles onto Piper’s situation, makes his own changes and steps up to be what he can for Piper though he’s missing information on her stalker. Rating: 4.25stars
Antonio/Arrow and Piper. This is a tough read, but a brilliantly done story. Piper is Prey’s psychologist and the two have chemistry. The story starts off with Alpha captured and tortured. Of course the men don’t want to talk about it and Arrow decides he is taking the chance with doc…but Piper has a baggage filled background as well and an active danger situation with a mentally unstable stalker. This story took some horrifying dark and graphic turns, but it also showed the healing grace of love, family and friendship. Definite trigger warnings for this book, but it also was the most solid of the series so far with detail, depth, emotion, and closure.
Well Jane Blythe has done it again. Make sure who have wine and tissues handy!!! Prey's resident psychiatrist has been helping others in order she helps to continue helping her self from a past she has kept secret. Arrow's team has just been rescued from being captured and tortured. However arrow doesn't want Piper to be his doctor. He wants Piper to be his woman. However, it will be an uphill battle for both of them. Both of them are haunted my monsters and one of Piper's is getting close and eventually does get her. Will she survive? Will Arroe and his team be able to find her in time? If they do find her will she mentally and physically recover. You have to read to find out.

OMG! This story is intense and explosive right from the first sentence. This story is about Arrow and Piper! There are so many levels of sadness in this book that you will have tears in your eyes and your heart in your throat. You will definitely be on the edge of your seat throughout the book! You just can't fathom the pain Piper goes through and you can't help but feel her pain. You will definitely feel Arrow's pain as well. It's good to see these two start to heal by being together. FANTASTIC job Jane! I would highly recommend this book! Can't wait for Domino's book!
Piper is the psychiatrist for Prey. She has overcome a lot from her past to get here. Just dating and worrying about someone she cares about getting hurt too, she can't let that go. That means staying away from Antonio. Antonio, or Arrow, as his team calls him, is very attracted to Piper. He has been trying for four years to get her interested. A man that Piper had to consult with doesn't like her diagnosis and has decided after a couple of years, it's time to take care of that situation. He has abducted her. He doesn't realize he left Arrow alive. Will the team and help find Piper before it's too late?
Another wonderful book!! Arrow is a patient of Dr Piper, but as his treatment comes to a close, he wants to make his interest known but she has trouble following her too. Another fast paced thrill ride of a book that grabs on and doesn't let go. The chemistry between Dr Piper and Arrow especially once he learns she is in trouble really kicks up. Their attraction is strong but slow build with the uncertainty of danger really causing a problem initially. Full of drama, action, suspense and danger, this still shows the strength of character needed to fight adversity. This book was very well done and I am really enjoying this series. Great work!!
From seeing nothing but a cover when the author first announced this series, deep down I had a feeling that this would be my favourite book and couple. Despite only being halfway through the series, I don't think I'm wrong. I adore every team member, and every female counterpart has been utterly inspirational, but this book just hit me the hardest (so far). From cover to cover the action exploded off the pages and I struggled between not wanting it to end and not being able to read fast enough. This book puts your heart and soul through the wringer, and it'll definitely stick with you for a long time to come. Easily went onto my top reads list and I urge you not to miss out.
Violence, kidnapping, rape. I should have DNF'd this one; instead skimmed to the ending. My 1st and last book by this author. Over the top ridiculous, melodramatic writing. Not suspenseful, very predictable. After she's rescued, in the hospital she muses how all this took place over two weeks. What? Ridiculous. Three weeks after her rescue from horrific abuse, he takes her ice skating! And, it's magic! she twirls, spins, glides, after 20 years of not skating! Awful writing. One oddity to me is that each chapter starts with a weird time, like 1:44 pm or 9:17 am; why? whatever does this have to do with the story?
Glad to be giving a 4* rating in this series. Warning — this book is brutal — lots of horrific torture and abuse. Piper starts to move on from a childhood tragedy when Arrow finally makes his move with her. The journey involves dealing with a monster from their past who goes after Piper too many times and finally kidnaps her and holds her prisoner, doing horrific things to her. The rescue was great — but it felt like she rebounded way too quickly.
This author seems to have an obsession with hanging people from a hook in the ceiling — lost count of how many times this happens in these series.
OMG when I read the last page of the previous book I thought, this might be a tough one and Jane didn’t hold back. This Team, Prey Alpha Team they stick together, they watch out for each other and even set each other straight and in this book, they need all the strength from each other after what they went through.
Fear, Hurt, Pasts, Revenge, love and betrayal all comes together in this book. Will the two get a happy ending. Well I’m not going to give you a spoiler but I’ll tell you this. This book is definitely worth reading if you want to find out.
Arrow and Piper’s story was emotional, intense, on the edge of your seat. Piper and Arrow have been tap dancing around their feelings for a while now and with good reason, she’s his doctor, but will that stop Arrow from trying to claim her for himself? These two both have trauma in their pasts and each one is dealing with it differently. There is action and suspense, danger in waiting as there is someone after Piper and will stop at nothing to get to her. Such an amazing read, a definite must read.
Wow! This was a rough read due to a man named Peter who tries to kill Piper .She is the psychiatrist hired by Prey Security. Then Peter who was outcasted from Prey due to a traumatic brain injury wants to kill every one that works for Prey Security. Piper and Antonio start a relationship but Peter has other sadistic plans for Piper . Peter eventually rapes and tortures Piper but he can’t reach her with pain etc. Reading this book was hard to put down but well worth the read if you like Alpha,Delta Ex military love stories. Good job to author Jane Blythe
Just wow....worth the wait and absolutely worth the read. This was an incredible book. I absolutely love Arrow and Piper...what they go through is heartbreaking ....will they make it? You better have your tissues ready...I ugly cried...was ecstatic, sad ,happy and devastated at parts of it.... Jane Blythe definitely leaves her reader satisfied but wanting more. I already can't wait for the next book to come out.

Another amazing book from this author. Honestly how she manages to produce books at the speed she does to such a high level is beyond me.
This is Arrow and Piper's story and it is a hard read at times. Not because I didn't enjoy the story but because so much trauma and suffering is inflicted.
It was well written enough to fully understand events without being graphic.
