I Left Snow Haven with a Broken Heart and Pregnant
I had been in love with the bear shifter next door practically since I was born. James always looked at me like I was a little sister. I was heartbroken when he joined the Army and left. However, when he returned, he looked at me with new eyes and saw me for the grown woman that I was.
After two weeks of unbridled passion, he left again with a kiss and a promise. A promise that he never kept – I thought.
Heartbroken and pregnant, I moved to Anchorage to pursue my degree in nursing. I made a life for myself and my son, but never forgot the man who had captured my heart.
When I returned to Snow Haven after my father had a heart attack, James was there. Sexier than ever and the alpha of his clan. My heart reminded me that I had never stopped loving him.
Little did I know that returning to Snow Haven would be dangerous – even deadly -- for me and Sam.
A bear shifter – the alpha of his clan A shifter female – who thought I stood in her way A bigoted shifter father – who thought my son was a blight on the clan
I knew that it was a mistake to allow myself to fall back in love with James and hope that maybe, someday, there would be a chance at being a family.
I know he loves Sam and me. But would his love destroy all of us?
I began writing short stories for family and friends. My vivid imagination and love of mysteries and romance eventually led me to following my own dreams of becoming a published author.
I am big time foodie and a huge fan of Nigella Lawson. I have an endless love for chocolates. As a mother of two beautiful girls who are obsessed with donuts and fairy tale stories. I love taking mini weekend vacation or spending quality time at home with family and friends.
If you like my writing, kindly spare some time for your lovely reviews.
He loved her so much that he had to sleep with many, many other women while they were apart to make sure of it. They liked a man in uniform. What can he say! Just gave me the gag reflex. I am sick of these type of romances. And Bear shifting did not work for me unfortunately. And so much time lost due to not talking to each other. Give me a break. He was not a hero to me. At all.
I do love a second chance romance and I like the way that they had to fight to get there HEA and with so many obstacles to overcome I wasn’t sure the would make it. Lina has always loved James but she is human and he is a bear shifter and everything was going great until he up and left and joined the army leaving her heartbroken and pregnant and so she leaves town to start a new life in Anchorage with her son Sam but she never forgot the love of her life James. James is a bear shifter and his life is a mess and the pressure his father is putting on him see’s him joining the army but that means leaving Lina behind and hurting each other. When her father has a heart attack she returns home to Snow Haven with her son Sam and she finds out the James is there and he is the Alpha of his clan and she knows she should stay away from him but he owns her heart. James sees Lina with a young boy and wonders if she is with someone and he missed his chance but learn she is single and that the boy is his son and he longs to be a family with them but his father is causing problems and asks others in the clan to keep them apart. How does it all turn out and can he keep his mate and son safe and have the HEA that they have both longed for together.
It read as though a ten year old wrote it. Sex scenes were bland, and the dialogue was choppy and unnatural. There was no flow when reading. Thank God for KU, I returned this title and popped the author onto my do not read shelf. Don’t want to make this mistake again.
Lina is human, but grew up next door to James who is a bear shifter. Lina had been in love with him all her life, and then when she graduated from school, they spent two weeks together before James went overseas on deployment with the promise that he would write. What they didn’t prepare for, is Lina’s father hiding the letters from her, and then she found out that she was pregnant. Now they are both back in the same town of Snow Haven, Lina now has a six year old son , Sam who has no idea who his father is, only that he is a hero. This couple has had to face so much adversity from their families and even now they are facing a danger that they are unprepared for. Will James be able to see if his son and his mate in time? there is a happily ever after for this, but they have a big journey before them before they finally get to the point where there is another surprise for James.
I was given a copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
James and Lina grew up with one another and she had had a crush on him as they grew older. When he left for the Army she was heartbroken. He came back on leave when she was due to graduate and spent every night together. He promised he would write to her. The letters never came, she discovered a secret, and moved to Anchorage for college. Fast forward several years later, James is back home installed as the new alpha. When he comes across Lina again, with a child, he knows she is back to care for her father. He meets her child and they hit it off immediately. His father is pressuring him to take a bear mate, but he will not. When it is quite clear where James’ heart lies after he discovers the truth, Lina and her child are in danger unless she meets the demands put forth. What will happen?
I like shifter books but only found this one okay. I encourage the author to keep writing but work to improve her craft. The characters felt very 2-dimensional: Lina was the perfect, sweet, forgiving mother, daughter, nurse; Lainey was the mean girl ambitious, greedy social climber; Sam the perfect, brilliant, polite, super athlete, helpful and obedient son; and so forth. The dialogue felt awkward and not natural (maybe because they all said the “perfect” things?) Sam, the perfect 6 yo, had the most robotic dialogue and I finally figured out it was because he didn’t use contractions so it always sounded very formal, and wayyy too mature for a young boy. She tried to convey that he was very mature for a first grader, but he just came off as a bit over the top. The plot itself was fine, but the characters needed to be a bit more human.
Lina was always crushing on James that lives next door, but he was a bear shifter, and she thought it couldn’t go anywhere. And then one day when he was on leave from the military, he saw her as more than just the gangly teenager he used to cart around on his back and bear form. They did the deed and it was magical, and he promised he would write her, but things weren’t as promised. Lina was heartbroken and decided to pursue her nursing degree in Anchorage with a surprise on board. Years later her father had a heart attack, and she had to come back to take care of him with her little surprise in tow. James, now being the alpha of the bear clan will he have time for Lina who is just a human? What will he do with her little surprise? Will his clan be upset?
This is a well written book with a cast of strong characters centering on Lina, James and their adorable little boy, Sam. The author does a great job building the story as she brings them together as a family. She pulled me in and kept me glued to the pages reading their story. She brings a bit of mystery, action, danger and steam along with the never ending love. It moves fluidly with descriptive scenes and is a great addition to the series. Loved it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Lina has always loved James. Even as a child she had a crush on him. James was in the military and they got together producing a son. James went back to the military not knowing that Lina was pregnant. Seven years later Lina comes back home because her dad had a heart attack. Lina and James get back together and everything breaks loose when James tells everyone that he has feelings for Lina. There is kidnapping involved and an attack on Lina by a bear shifter. To find out what happens you have to read the book!
This is book three for Snow Haven Shifters. The main characters are James, a bear shifter, and Lina, the human female. These two grew up together and grew into a like of one another. However James enlisted in the military and Lina continued with school. Lina and James connected as adults during a visit to Snow Haven but a lot of miscommunications caused them to drift apart. There is a happy ending with low angst. Read On!
Next -Door Bear Daddy is book 3 in Snow Haven Shifter series by Brittany White. This was one of the best paranormal books I've read. Ms White is a new author for me and I find I can hardly wait to read more of her books. Lainey & James have a complicated connection. They both have nosey parents that cause many of their problems. I enjoyed this paranormal book very much & give it the 5 stars it deserves. I urge you to read it.
She grew up next door to him & they were good friends but she felt he always saw her as a little sister until one day after he came home on leave from the military. He really saw her then but he left 2 weeks later back to the military. He left her with a reminder though, a little boy. She's come back home cuz her dad had an emergency. Their lives are about to have a major change, for better or worse, is the question. Read and find out!
Lina, a human and James a bearshifter had an affair before James went back to the army. James leaves the Army due to his father giving up the alpha position which leads to the old alpha wanting his son to mate. Line turns up with James' son,Sam. Being half human and Linda as a human which would weaken the aloha and resorts to a plan that would eliminte them both.
A book about a girl who falls in love with an older bear shifter. When she grows up he falls for her to but he gets deployed and through someone not giving her his letters she thinks he does not love her and left her pregnant and alone. 5 years later she sees the man who broke her heart and falls in love with him again. And they figure out who messing with there relationship. Great story
OK I love it but I believe his father needs his ass beat I really wish it was gonna be a big down I wish that motherfucking whore would get her ass handed so damn I wish she was a shift us to a human because I would love to see a fucking beat down in one of these books somebody needs to get their ass beat because that was at a fucking l line Man I wish I could jump in his book and beat the ass but I love the book he read and family love each story
I liked the story. It seems like their relationship was forbidden - that is a human being mated to an alpha and there are a lot of things hindering their relationship. Well, our MC proved that he is truly an alpha, he knew what he wants and never bowed to the whims of his father or be dictated upon.
Oh, the MCs have an incredible kid, Sam. He was wise beyond his years.
You may be only human you right for the right to love. I have enjoyed reading this story and I look forward to reading more of them, for love and family is ment for all even shifters have the right for mates also family.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm.
I love the whole world of Snow Haven, and all of its wonderful characters. This is a great book for any Bear shifter fans out there. I love a strong Alpha who is willing to defy old rules to include all fated mates. The former was crazed, and homicidal in his intentions to stay with the old ways. Great happy ending.
I think this particular book tugged at my heartstrings the most. It was sad, happy, sad, happy. I loved lil Sam because he was exceptionally smart for a young kid. The books that he read. And Destiny I just loved her as well. She was Lina’s voice of reason and common sense. Good book
OMG, makes me want to read some more secret shifter baby romance! They were kept from each other in their youth. When she had his kid and ran away because she didn't think he wanted her anymore. When they are back in each others orbits he realizes that she is his fated mate, but his father doesn't want him to be with a lowly human.
Next-Door Bear Daddy (Snow Haven Shifters Book 3) by Brittany White. Lina returns home with her son Sam to Snow Haven when her father becomes Ill. Bear Shifter and Alpha James soon realises Sam is his son. He wants to make Lina his wife and mate but there is serious opposition.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of James, Lina and her son, Sam. The story keeps us turning the pages with second chances, secrets, danger and steam.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book, and I voluntarily chose to review it. This is a well written story with great characters. This is a second chance love story. I read this one in one sitting. I would encourage everyone to get this one it is worth your time.
This is one more exciting story by Brittany White. So much drama and deception. Hatred of others because they are different in any way is just wrong on every level and the way it is handled in this story is perfect!
Lina loved James as a child teen and soon to graduate woman. He was in the military. When he wrote her dad hid the letters. She was pregnant.Coming back to town with their shifter child he was thrilled but his dad caused mayhem.Great characters
I fell in love with the Snow Haven since reading the first book! The series has the adventures , the love, and the constant struggle between shifters and humans coming together! I can hardly wait to continue reading all the books!
He was the alpha of the wolf pack and was trying to make changes in the pack, but was having problems with some of the wolves. She had always loved him and when the spent those two weeks together before he left again for a mission he gave her a part of him to remember.
I enjoyed the characters the way they developed in the story. I would recommend the my friends. I have been looking for a new author and I am happy I found Brittany White
Fun light hearted love story. Sex decent but not overly descriptive. 5.5/10 for spice level. I have read other books by this author and they are good solid stand alone books.
30% of the way through I gave up on this book. The writing style is dreadful and basic. The dialogue is poor and so are the characters. The child Sam speaks with so much worldly wisdom, as if he is an adult and not 6 going on 7.
