An exploration of the Black Moon Lilith placement in astrology—a widely searched yet underserved topic—that reclaims the misunderstood archetype of Lilith and shows you how to use her energy for empowerment and transformation.
Black Moon Lilith Rising is unlike any other astrology book out there on multiple it is a comprehensive exploration of the placement of Lilith in astrology, it’s a deep exploration into the misunderstood myth and archetype of Lilith, and it incorporates shadow work and spiritual alchemy.
The book begins with an ode to Lilith, anecdotal stories surrounding the author’s experience with the energy, the history, and mythology behind the Lilith archetype. Lilith has been demonized, known as the first rebellious, disobedient woman, but in fact she is a powerful, sovereign being. By untwisting the truth about her energy, the world can heal the suppressed feminine, balance the power dynamic, and ascend.

This books reads like an essay. I didn’t care for the book until chapter 7. However the oracle deck that belongs to this book is stunning. I wish the book was just as good as the deck.
Just finished another one written by a Black woman. Black Moon Lilith Rising by Adama Sesay is not just an astrology book; it's a roadmap. A reclamation. A return. A remembering who we are!
What makes this book compelling is how it reframes Lilith YES Lilith from the Bible, stripping away the centuries of distortion that painted her as a cautionary tale a "bad girl" cast out for defiance. Just like Eve • she was framed. eg Instead, Sesay positions Lilith as a sacred archetype of feminine autonomy, intuition, sensuality and unapologetic power.
The book gently, but firmly challenges the narratives many women have inherited through religious and domesticated "virtuous" conditioning systems that often reward silence, compliance and self-erasure. Women everywhere have experienced the expectation to be the metaphorical sacrificial lamb.
Adama doesn't just deconstruct; she rebuilds. Through reflection, spiritual insight and practical guidance. She led me through reflection, spiritual insight and practical guidance. She lead me into a deeper understanding of my own Lilith energy. The idea of Lilith as your rising becomes a powertul metaphor: not something hidden in the shadows ie shadow-work, but something meant to be embodied, expressed and even leveraged.
There's a quiet, but powertul insistence that trauma is not just psychological; it's energetic, spiritual even cellular. Black Moon Lilith represents the parts of ourselves that were exiled for survival.
For us as Black women, those exiled parts often include rage, sensuality, rest, softness and truth-telling. Black Moon Lilith offers more than insight; it grants permission to unlearn, unleash, to reclaim, and to rise fully into the truth of who we are without apologies. In the words of Beyoncé, Lilith is not sorry, and neither am I! Okurrr.
I'm so grateful to have this book in the world! It does an excellent break down of Black Moon Lilith through all the houses of astrology, with and through each of the signs. It's thorough and straight forward with clear examples of well known people in modern culture to help us understand the energetics, themes, and lessons at play and how to work with them. This is a book I will refer back to over and over again.
What an interesting topic. I was a bit confused about the aspects in the middle of the book and didn't realize there were clearer explanations at the back but otherwise a really informative book and a great workbook in the back with exercises that I'm actually excited to try (ADD brain) and breakdowns of planets and Houses and Tropical etc at the end of the book were really helpful. I got this one from the library too so I'll have to buy a copy.
This book was a great read. A lot of it went over my head because let’s face it astrology is not the easier subject to learn. I think the author made it simple enough though for me to go back and read the parts specifically for me. I can’t wait to do the 13 day ritual starting April first right in time for my birthday.
The concept of Black Moon Lilith is not easy to grasp. It seems easy… one can find YT videos on the topic, short descriptions here and there. But the understanding of BML doesn’t happen in one pass. It is built into layers.
This book laid yet another layer on my knowledge on the topic.
I really enjoyed this book. A definite must read for people into astrology. My only complaint is I wish it had been longer then it could have gone into even more detail.
