The Truth is a weak thing. It has no power. The only power the Truth holds is the power we grant it.
The might of nations rises and falls with the same, inexorable certainty of the oceans. Powers, unseen and unknown, push and pull, with relentless determination. The currents that shape the world are easily ignored, until the waters rise, and the people drown.
In the Kingdom of Wahrheit, the tide has turned, and the water is rising.
A new ruler sits upon an ancient throne. Foreign nations, for centuries cowed by the strength of Wahrheit’s dragons and her armies, rise in defiance to throw off the old order. Fae, some thought to be nothing more than myth, stride Wahrheit’s fields and her council chambers. Within the kingdom, there are those who see the disruption as weakness, and weakness as opportunity. There are wrongs to be righted. Blood to be spilled. All in the pursuit of revenge.
There are those who could defy the call and stand against the tide of violence and blood. Six paladins, chosen by Fortune, or so it’s claimed. They are like the moon or the stars—ignorant of the power they exert upon the world. They follow the path chosen for them, and if their passing brings joy or sorrow, they know nothing but their journey.
That is the Truth. Their fate. Unless they can shatter the bindings of ancient law and forge a Truth of their own.

Revenge is a great tale of well, revenge. It picks up right where the previous novel had left off and the pace doesn't dampen for a second. It would have been believed that the world had been made right and that the characters could go back to the way things used to be, but unfortunately (or fortunately for us as readers) the characters could not forgive and forget. The stakes are as high as ever and we are allowed to go on a journey with all of them in their continuing adventures. The same characters are back and we get lots of screen time with all of them.
The strength are the characters. Each are unique and individual, which makes it hard to pinpoint a favorite. I loved how each has their own personal agenda, with a clever way to show the selfishness of all of them. They all believe they are trying to help the kingdom, but they discover the true price of revenge. The audio being narrated by Travis Baldree is fantastic and does an excellent job of giving each character an individual voice.
This is a series that I continue to get excited by. It has so much political intrigue with some intense fighting as well. I really like the idea of the dragon riders and the Fae that are continually causing havoc throughout the novels. I really want to know more about them as I felt in each novel we were barely scratching the surface. AC Cobble is quickly becoming an author that I will instantly devour each of his books!!
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. As always, happy reading and Stay Great!!
When I first started this, I was afraid it was not going to measure up to book 1, and that I wouldn’t like it as much. Turns out, I like it more, but in a much different way. Book 1 was very fast paced and easy to read, lots of battles and dragons. This book, on the other hand, is much more - I guess the word I’m looking for is thoughtful. It’s a deeper look at the characters introduced in book 1 (along with a couple of new ones), and is a study of who they are and how they got where they are now, as well as how the events of book 1 are shaping where they’re going. It also introduces some interesting twists and a few surprises. I’m looking forward to book 3.
Fast paced and engaging this book just made me smile during certain sections. The characters are dynamic and interesting. Travis Baldree returns on narration for the audio book and delivers s fantastic performance.
The one draw back I have with Revenge is it has some chapters that don’t seem to go anywhere and a frivolous POV or two. Other than than I overall really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next installment.
The old myths speak of the most vile of creatures. Their evil twisting the minds of those in power. The kingdom of Wahrheit with its legendary dragon knights is under siege.
The same gritty rawness as its predecessor. Full of dark lore & conspiracy. Awesome series.
This is Wahrheit book 2, and I enjoyed book one so much that I dove right into this one. Thanks again to the author, as he shared an audible code with me for both.
This book packs a punch. It comes back with a vengeance, it comes back for…REVENGE. The novel itself amps up the author’s previous work in book one; political intrigue, character development, and dialogue. The characters face more betrayals, more twists, more turns. Now they have to deal with greater interference from the fae as well. Will the new Queen rise to the occasion?
This author has such a way with wording combat that the action feels both incredibly vast, yet also personal. You can picture the carnage in the background of battle. You can picture the lines of men ready for action, but then at the same time, he’s actually dialing it down and focusing on a single person within their midst. It’s fantastic, but it’s also my one small gripe with the novel. There simply wasn’t enough. It felt kind of like starting over from the first with a similar buildup, rather than starting on the precipice from the first and opening wide.
Personally still a fantastic read and I cannot wait for book 3. Travis Baldree’s narration is exquisite. A 4/5* for me.
A much deeper dive into the magic of Warheight! Continues a lot of themes from book 1, while layering further the lore and players of the world. Sets up book 3 nicely with intrigue as to how deep the layers will go before things really start to explode. :)
Don’t understand what this — 1000+ pages is all about
Tons of flowery prose, literally meaningless since it adds nothing more than some type of story/world background on a world not very different than our own — physically. Excruciating long descriptions of buildings, clothing of each character and ongoing, repetitive phrasing equals a very slow, tedious and frustrating read.
Too many POVs that don’t follow the same timeline, making the story feel “choppy”. Knowledge is power, or so I’ve been told…and kinda agree. In the beginning we’re told about fae and fae-sight. Author started with Sprites, then added in dragons. After 500+ pages(book 1) we find out that there’s elves, dwarfs that are part of the fae. After a couple of hundred pages into this book and then we learn there’s a hierarchy and other types of fae. But why play games?
I looked to check the genre to find out if this was really a very different type of mystery novel. It’s not. Last, author has an underlying theme, more like an agenda, regarding social-relationship issues of today that I’m not really interested in reading about…not when I’m reading fiction/fantasy for enjoyment. Not reading a fantasy to get 21th century enlightenment.
Enjoyed some of the authors prior books, but this mess is difficult to overcome. I kept reading expecting…I guess I don’t know.
Revenge picks up where book 1, Conspiracy, left off. A new queen has been installed in the kingdom, so everything should be chill now, right? Bzzt, wrong! The characters are out for revenge, and the fae can't keep their fingers out of the revenge pie, either.
This series has a variety of POVs, so if that's not your thing, you may not enjoy this. I myself write a ton of POVs, so reading them is very much my jam! There were a couple POVs included that later I wondered why because I felt they didn't add a ton to the story, but someone else might really like that so it's all cool with me.
My fave character in the previous book, Gerhardt, is still trucking along in this one, though now he's on the run. And the stalwart dragon knight Otto Tilly is on the mend from a devastating injury, but eager to be back in the action, along with an incredible dragon. The boy Ulric, who had been a hero in the previous book, seeks revenge of his own that sends him down a harrowing new path that actually made me like him a lot more in this book. There was a ton of character growth and I felt like we got to know and understand more about them.
Mr. Cobble has done it yet again. A superb book and there is never a dull moment. The pacing is par excellence. We learn much about the characters and there are just the right amount of twists such that you cannot guess the outcome of any scene. Yes, there is plenty of sadness and the consequences of revenge are shall we say rather empty. Our new queen has much to learn and she has managed to damage so much. I am still a shade perplexed by the pirate but may be a second read will clarify things. I read the book at one go from breakfast to dinner therefore would urge you to start when you know you have no major commitments that day. The systems of magic are becoming more tangled and to any future kings, do not base your militory might on magic alone.
Revenge builds wonderfully on the world established in Conspiracy, raising the stakes and accelerating the action in a delightful, compelling way. There is little question in my mind that A.C. Cobble is in the midst of his crowning achievement to date with the Wahrheit series, and I am anxious for the next installment.
After reading the first 2 Books in this Series Conspiracy & Revenge, I enjoyed the story continuing Book after Book I just Love a Long Story, I'm really enjoying reading A C Cobble's Series, Looking forward to reading the following 3 Series I've purchased I also think anyone who likes Fantasy stories will enjoy his Series Laurie S
