Mermaid Molly sets off with Coral, protector of the ocean reefs, to find the third piece of the enchanted conch shell. With it, they would be able to restore the dying tropical reefs and return a host of sea creatures, including a lost baby turtle, to their rightful homes. But first they have to beat a swarm of the Dark Queen's evil jellyfish.
I've been reading this series for my 4 year old daughter at bedtimes. We're reading them out of order as she is picking them based on the covers haha, but there is mermaids in and she loves it! We read a chapter each night and she feels so grown up reading a big girls book!
Molly needs to find her friend Pearl her missing conch shell in the DARKEST depths of the ocean. They know that the Dark Queen's sea snakes are on the move...but nothing can prepare them for the discovery that Pearl's shell is inside of a huge underwater volcano-a volcano that could erupt at any time!!I give this book a five star rating. This is a fictional book. I think this is a good book for people that like fiction books. I really recommend this book:)
Another awesome Secret Mermaid book! The description of Pearl and Molly being blown from the volcano was so cool! And we got a little more insight into what’s been going on with Princess Silva, though we’re really still left guessing. I love that these books are invoking so much emotion from my daughter as we’re reading! Tonight she gasped audibly during the scene with Princess Silva and it just makes me smile to see her so into a book!
The fifth book in the Secret Mermaid series follows Molly on another quest to aid a mermaid. Molly meets with mermaid Pearl to help find her missing conch shell. Molly and Pearl must avoid the underwater volcanoes that have begun to erupt and dodge the Dark Queen's sea snakes in order to collect the missing shell.
This book will be popular with readers of the Rainbow Magic series, as it follows a similar story line. A human girl must become friends with a species of mythical creature who need her help to restore their magic. Each book follows Molly as she meets and helps a new mermaid, similar to the Rainbow Magic books.
Overall, this book is enjoyable and the story is more complex than that of the Rainbow Magic series. Molly and her friends must overcome more obstacles in order to reach their goal, compared to the quests in the Rainbow Magic series. The length of the story is also longer and the language slightly more advanced, and so I would recommend this book to girls who are just outgrowing the Rainbow Magic books and wish to move on.
Ideal for: children aged 7-9 years old, particularly those who loved the Rainbow Magic series.
Note: These books are best if read in order. The story follows on from book to book and references are made to events that happen in previous books.
