Book #13 in the Mystery Club series has all the elements of a good mystery, and with a lot of danger for the three Mystery Club girls: Holly, Tracy, and Belinda.
This book finds them at a week long outdoor activity course in the Lake District; camping but living in a dorm and the physical activities include rock climbing, wind surfing, and other things I wouldn't consider fun- like rolling a heavy barrel around the perimeter of the lake. It mentions that there are 50 students from their school, but only these three and three others are mentioned. Their guide, Mike, is a handsome rugged guy in top physical condition. Just as the girls are longing for a mystery, a car goes by, and when it slows for a grate in the road, a boy rolls out and runs away. During the chase, the boy falls into the lake from the high cliffs. Everyone is sure that he drowned, but no body is found. This is the basis for the mystery that ends up being much bigger than they thought. It ends up with the girls being sent home from camp early, in disgrace, but on the way they become heroes when they round up the bad guys.

Monien muiden Mystery Club -kirjojen tapaan tässä(kin) juonessa oli melko epäuskottavia elementtejä, kuten teinin matkustaminen Afrikasta Eurooppaan puolituntemattoman seurassa ja koulun retki, jonka tarkoituksena on harrastaa vaarallisia aktiviteetteja. Tässä pysyi kuitenkin jännitys hyvin yllä, ja juonenkäänteet olivat yllättäviä.
