1894 Boston born and bred Tim Dwyer doesn't relish the thought of giving up Eastern comforts for life in the rough-and-tumble West. But when he finds himself with with no job, little money, and no place else to go, he accepts a position at his cousin's weekly newspaper in the Indian Territory. When his cousin and his new editor cook up a roving reporter assignment, Tim learns that spending a mere week in the life of U.S. Deputy Marshal Jon Sauvage won't ever be enough to satisfy his needs. Choctaw lawman "Savage Jon" Sauvage has spent his entire adult life content with chasing wanted men and taking his pleasures wherever and however he can. But once he's roped into letting a big city reporter tag along with him on a manhunt, Jon soon suspects that Tim Dwyer might just capture his heart.
Barbara Sheridan grew up a fan of historical novels, TV westerns and most anything having to do with the paranormal. She often writes in the romance sub-genres of contemporary, historical, and paranormal.
She also acquired a fondness for all things royalty related, J-rock, and cheezy films. These varied interests mashed themselves together to shape her writing and led to characters who surely inhabit an alternate universe–and get into who knows what trouble without her supervision.
Barbara lives in Pennsylvania and loves hearing from readers and others who share her interests, as well as being able to “meet” them via social media.
Ok, that was just too short. Not that it didn't have any potential but this was just insta-love-add-hot-water-and-stir with a dash of wild west and a tiny pinch of native American. Probably okay if you crave a snack but not if you are in need of a whole meal.
Tim is the younger man with the big blue eyes, city boy now in the wilds of Arkansas. He could have come across as a very femme kind of character, but he didn't. He's smart and good at his job but knows when he's in over his head. (But goes in anyway). Jon is the epitome of alpha lawman, who pushes the other man away with anger when he can. This is not a HEA ending, but a hopeful one. Some unanswered questions make me think there will be more (?)
I liked this story about these 2 men who at first look don't fit at all: Tim, the artist/journalist, and Jon, the alpha lawman. There is no HEA, but the hope that in the future both charachters will find their HEA. I really would like to read more of them. 3,5 stars
When US Deputy Marshall Jon Sauvage, of 'Most Wanted' by Barbara Sheridan, spies a young man, Tim, staring at him on a train station platform, he's curious, but warnings go off in his head. He's favored men all his life, but right away, he decides that this young man is trouble and vows to stay away from him. Unfortunately, that turns out to be impossible.
Tim Dwyer does not want to be in the “Wild West”, but since his ex-lover threw him out and froze his assets, he has no choice and goes to stay with his favorite aunt and her family. Shortly after Tim moves in, the family goes on a trip to the christening of his cousin Star’s twin babies. The last person Tim expects to see there is Jon Sauvage and the feeling seems mutual. Tim is also struggling with his attraction to the marshal. Back East Tim was a reporter and illustrator for a prominent newspaper. Star, who owns the local newspaper, offers him a job. Tim has reservations about being in close proximity to John Sauvage. In the end, Tim accepts the job. Right away, the editor has a project for him entitled “A Week in the Life of…” and wants his first story to be about Jon Sauvage. Although he'd love to spend more time with Jon, going out with a posse is not Tim's idea of something he wants to do.
When the editor asks Jon about the proposed project, his answer is an unequivocal no, but Tim promises not to get in the way and begs to ride with them for at least a day or two. Jon relents and allows Tim to go with him. John is quite surprised and impressed at how well Tim can ride a horse. Things don't go well apprehending the fugitive who ends up getting shot. Before the man dies, he makes some serious accusations about Jon's sexual preferencesTim tries to stick up for him saying the man is just talking out of his head, but he secretly wonders if it is true. Tim rides with Jon on the way home. Jon is still curious about why Tim is there to begin with, so Tim explains that he had no choice and why. As Jon learns more about Tim, Jon gains a greater respect for him. He and Tim are different as can be, but there's a strength about Tim that Jon appreciates and the sexual attraction is stronger than ever.
'Most Wanted' is a short but enticing story, with intriguing, well-defined main as well as secondary characters. Jon Sauvage is the epitome of a solitary Wild West lawman and is also Choctaw, which makes him both a cowboy and an Indian, along with the delightful plus of being attracted to other men. Tim may not be the rough-and-tumble man that Jon is, but neither is he just another pretty face. Tim is smart, talented, and has a worldliness and sophistication beyond his years. I would love to have known more about both men and their backgrounds. If you like cowboys, lawmen, Indians, the Wild West, and hot men having even hotter sex, then you may enjoy this book. Thanks, Barbara, for the steamy story.
There's a lot to like about this western, which I'm not going to go into. Instead I'm going to say this lawman has a got a dark side to him I would love to see explored to the full in a sequel. It's only touched upon in this. I wanted more: more of Jon's way with , with his artist/journalist lover, with... everything. As it stands, it suits the theme it was written for: "a slice of life"
But There is so much potential with a character like this; he could be so delicious.
Set in the 1800s, Eastern city boy reporter Tim finds out his rich banker lover, is cheating on him. At the end of it, Tim finds himself kicked out of the mansion, out of a job and with his money frozen in the bank. He heads to his aunt's house, the only place he can expect to be accepted. On the way, he sees a vision of an Indian lawman, "Savage Jon" Sauvage. He takes a trip to a baptism with his aunt, and there again finds Savage Jon, as well as finds a job at the local newspaper. As part of a feature, A Day in the Life of, he is to follow Savage Jon on his quest to apprehend a bank robber and killer. They fight their attraction throughout, and it needs to be remembered the damage to be had if they are found out. Most of the plot deals with their interaction, as well as the danger involved. The book ends rather vaguely, with a could be HFN.
I did not dislike it but I never got into the story. There were so many scenes that started out with great potential but then the majority fell a little flat in my opinion. I actually liked the basic concept of the two main characters and the idea of the story, greenhorn meets "battle-tested" lawman, I just wasn't emotionally touched that much by them or their interactions. There were some moments when I felt a little spark but unfortunately not enough to give this more then 2.5 stars as a whole. It was a nice little story.
This short novella was really pulling. I would rate it higher, but i was to short. Hope there will be sequel about this couple. Both man were interesting!
