Terri Blackstock is a New York Times best-seller, with over seven million books sold worldwide.. She has had over thirty years of success as a novelist.

Terri spent the first twelve years of her life traveling in a U.S. Air Force family. She lived in nine states and attended the first four years of school in The Netherlands. Because she was a perpetual “new kid,” her imagination became her closest friend. That, she believes, was the biggest factor in her becoming a novelist. She sold her first novel at the age of twenty-five, and has had a successful career ever since.

In 1994 Terri was writing romance novels under two pseudonyms for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, Dell and Silhouette, when a spiritual awakening prompted her to switch gears. At the time, she was reading more suspense than romance, and felt drawn to write thrillers about ordinary people in grave danger. Her newly awakened faith wove its way into the tapestry of her suspense novels, offering hope instead of despair. Her goal is to entertain with page-turning plots, while challenging her readers to think and grow. She hopes to remind them that they’re valued by God and that their trials have a purpose.

These were so enjoyable to read. These were the first 2 books in the Cape Refuge series.

Matthew Cade is a cop in the small town of Cape Refuge. In book 1, he's involved in a case to solve a double murder that has taken place.

What I enjoyed most about these 2 books was how fast=paced they were. I always picked up the book and ended up reading for long periods, mainly because there was so much going on and I needed to find out what was going to happen next.

I can't wait to find the second volume with the other 2 books in the series! These first two were really good!

I have finished the first two book of this series. Ms. Blackstock is a good suspence writer and I really enjoyed the story. Cape Refuge opens with the murder of Thelma and Wade Owens who operate a B&B for displaced persons--ex-cons, runaways, and others who need a fresh start. The first suspect is their son-in-law Jonathan Cleary, who was seen earlier in the day arguing with them. The murder weapon also belongs to Cleary. Owenses' two daughters, Morgan (married to Jonathan) and Blair, struggle with finding meaning in their parents' deaths, while police chief Cade sorts through the evidence.

In the meantime, the town becomes suspicious and panicked over the danger they perceive from the residents of Owenses' B&B. As the story unfolds old secrets are revealed and the town council moves to close Hanover House.

The second story centers on Cade and Blair. While driving in a severe storm, Cade hits a man who stumbles out in front of his car. The man dies at the hospital where it is discovered he also has a gunshot wound. Who is this man and why was he out on such a stormy night? The plot thickens when Cade disappears. Blair searches for him and has to deal with her growing attraction to Cade. A main thread going through the story is will Blair become a believer?

The books make for good light reading if you don't mind the definite religious tone to the book.

Blackstock is a Christian writer and any books written under that name have a clear gospel message. She has also written more secular books under 2 other pseudonyms. However, they appear to be out of print and circulation as she says she has repented over writing them.

I am really enjoying this series! Southern Storm was a bit unrealistic in some parts. SPOILER ALERT Especially the part near the end when Cade is shot twice and lays captive with no medical attention, little food and survives being drugged and beaten during two escape attempts. Also the ending where Cade with super-human strength is able to get up from his hospital bed and rescue the stolen baby. Nevertheless, it was a great book that kept me up until the wee hours of the morning finishing it.

Pretty good murder mystery Christian novel. I like how Blair's journey to Christ is on her own without everyone pushing her. She found Him on her own terms and in her own way; it just took a little longer.

I am a big mystery fan, and these two books did not disappoint me. I am also in a time in my life where I found the Christian elements comforting.

Both books were engaging, and kept me very interested. It is light fiction, with a clear Gospel message. Great for the beach or an airplane.
