I have no Cancer in my chart, so Cancer has always felt illusive and tough to relate to. After reading this book I feel a stronger understanding of the sign and how it manifests in people. What struck me most was what Dominguez, Pamita and the various contributors each expressed: that Cancer is neglected and unappreciated in western culture.
That is very true: watery, emotional, slow or infrequently-paced people are perhaps the least valued in society. Even personally, I haven’t had many Cancerian friends as a Taurus: I think my get-it-done energy is just a bit too frustrated with their lack of follow through! But I now have an understanding and appreciation for their strengths as well.
Dare I say it, I even see a lot of my own depths in the sign of Cancer. I particularly enjoyed the silver cleansing ritual, and have bookmarked that for myself. And as an empath and intuitive tarot reader, I can now better appreciate the challenges of Cancer as a deeply emotional sign.
If you have felt disconnected from your sign as a Cancer, sun, moon, rising or even felt embarrassed by it because of the expectations of western culture, this book will empower you to reclaim your crab claws!
Second review for this series, the first being the Pisces Witch: Unlock the Magic of Your Sun Sign which airs more of the 'copy and paste' chapter repeats so won't rehash that here. Only typo was in the appendix (page 217) with planetary correspondences extended to the Sun and Pluto, not just the Moon.
Overall the personalized Cancer chapters were a good reminder about setting boundaries between self and outside energies, and did feel structured toward Cancer energy. Would recommend for anyone just getting started into a craft with ties to astrological influences.
Created by Ivo Dominguez Jr in collaboration with many other authors and witches, this series of books will show you how to harness the power of your Sun sign, with chapters dedicated also to Moon and Rising sign, so you can have a better understanding of yourself. You’ll also find rituals, recipes, spells, and complete tables of correspondences to connect deeper with yourself and the world around you, enhancing your magical work while doing so.
I always considered myself a true Cancer, with my Moon in Scorpio and Rising in Sagittarius always making sense to me and helping me to better understand those shades of my personality that maybe were less Cancer-like. Needless to say, I thought I had a good idea of what this astrological profile meant and still, this book managed to tell me something I didn’t know, thanks to Madame Pamita’s chapters: she’s the main contributor as a Cancer witch, alongside other ones that appear only briefly. This book made me feel understood and felt like chatting to an old friend: Cancers often don’t have the best rep in the Zodiac and this book not only acknowledged this, but it also helps you further in transform those “weaknesses” in strength.
This book told me that Cancers were not valued by society and I was like wtf, lol. I mean if you ask me, we're perfect. Anyway, the book gives a lot of information about the sun sign and its aspects with the ascendant and the moon sign. And then how we relate magic abilities and rituals to the sign. I loved some of the rituals described, and I want to implement them in my life (the cleansing baths, the connecting to cancer energy, the morning affirmations, the shielding). When I closed the book, I felt empowered. It's not a big book, I read it for just a day. I intend to reread the bookmarked sections each new Cancer season :)
