This is a collection of nine stories originally printed in genre publications Analog, Galaxy, Vertex, and Orbit in the mid-1970's. They have a better range of characterization than many of the other what if/if this goes on hard-sf puzzle stories of the time. Robinett was never a very prolific author, and his work was split between mystery and science fiction; he also frequently used a pseudonym, Tak Hallus, which I've read was a Persian word for pseudonym. The title story was my favorite in this, his only collection.

One of the best short story anthologies I’ve ever read.

Most enjoyable and gripping science-fiction short-stories that I have read so far. The technology vision is interesting, as is the characters' psychology and the writing style. Loved this. Highly recommended.
