I got this book from Subang Jaya book exchange programme.

Kinda interested when I saw the author name Lilian Too. She is famous over here for her Feng Shui advices.

Empress Wu. Many books have been written about her. Makes me wonder what else can be added here and will there be any surprise? According to the back flap of this book that it is a fiction.

For me this book is like a light reading. Something in the genre of Chit-0lit if they have it back in the old days.

Here, Empress Wu was potrayed as an innocent girl enter to the Palace life. She did not miss life outside as she is educated and entertained herself in the royal library.

She was lucky her as the Emperor took a liking to her and she found a protector in the Emperor's old love.

What I like about this book is that the lines are simple and easy to understand. Not much of politic in it. Mostly it's about the life she lead in the palace and her triumph and downfall.

What I found lacking in this book is surprises. It's pretty much follow others Empress Wu's book that I have read before. I wonder if the author add some of her feng shui tips in the book ,would it make a much more interesting reads.

overall I rate it 3 out of 5 .

I read this many years ago. It was so captivating, I read it all in one sitting. I learnt alot about Chinese history from this one; I am not a history student, but this drew me in.
