Oh my gosh...for anyone out there in nursing school, if you have been told this is your text, please accept my deepest sympathy. Aside from the microscopic print, I have never read anything so verbose in my life. This is the only book that can consistently use 500 words to describe blowing your nose. Hang in there.

I like how the intro has pictures of the authors traveling, playing tennis, and gardening...stuff you totally are not doing if you are reading this book. Oh, goodreads wants to know the date I finished this book...don't make me laugh.

Seriously, still one of my fave books of all time. Years later, I would not be who I am today without this book. I appreciate the women and contributors who have plowed the way.

This is one of the assigned textbooks for my nursing class. It's okay as far as textbooks go, although I think some of our other textbooks are put together in a much nicer way for repeated reading and ease of study.

However, it is very informative, and the highlighted blocks of information within the chapters are great for quick reminders.

There are also sections that give example nursing diagnoses that are very helpful to the nursing student that is just learning how to create care maps.

Clear, detailed, and not too difficult to follow. I'm not sure I would've loved the full-sized paper edition, but the searchable Kindle edition, complete with the option of just looking at my highlights, was a must-have. I'm glad I'll have this as a go-to reference. I also found the sample care plans and nursing interventions really helpful, but I didn't know they were available until I was halfway through school because of the way our reading was assigned. If you're using this text, and you have to write care plans, definitely use those to your advantage.

A very scientific and technical book. Very well written for the technical person in us all. However I think it's best read after you've been acclimated to the material and not for the novice nursing student. Pathophysiology is explained well. Nursing assessment is condensed and organized in boxes for your convince. Wish I could say the same for implementation ( albeit they do for emergency situations). Overall a very dense read, but an excellent book.

Decent enough as an A&P textbook but I found it lacking in the category of nursing specific interventions. This textbook is supposedly targeted at nursing students but doesn't give a lot of detail of what a nurse should be assessing and doing within his or her scope of practice. I have used the Brunner's Med Surg textbook in the past and found that it was better structured for nursing students.

If you want a full account on patho-physiology of anything and everything med-surg related I'd recommend this book. It is a detailed, dense, research based book that will give you a thorough overview of all body systems and disease processes. Great companion to anyone going through med-surg!

This was probably the only book I ever actually looked at in nursing school, and it continues to be used as a reference today. It's very wordy, but there's a lot of good information in this book on various disease processes and nursing care. It will forever be in my reference library.

I think this is the only text book I was required to read and actually have. Usually I just use the textbooks as supplementation, but this book I am actually reading first and then studying notes.

This is the book that will haunt my every waking moment from now until I graduate. Get used to the look of it; it'll be on my "currently reading" list until about Dec. 11, 2008.

I feel I should get "credit" because I'm not ignoring Studs' lovely and inspiring book in favor of tv; I'm torn from it by this heap of learning.

So far, quite informative, but a kind of convoluted. Not as bad as Understanding Pathophysiology. Understanding, my ass.

For a textbook, this one wasn't bad. It was straightforward and easy to understand. It is much better than some others I've read.
