The Bartender's Guide

Rate this book
Cocktails are back—fresher and taster than ever. The days when a cocktail meant an oversweet, garish concoction, garnished with a pineapple chunk and a paper umbrella are over. Today's cocktails are made wth fresh, high-quality ingredients with the intention of producing sometimes subtle, sometimes startling flavor combinations.

Equally useful behind the counter of a top city bar or on your coffee table at home, The Bartender's Guide is informative, educational, entertaining, and elegantly designed. In a health - and lifestyle - conscious world, this comprehensive volume holds the key to "consuming less, but tasting more" and is an all-encompassing book for every aspiring bartender.

In conjunction with the other "Bartender's Guide" by Peter Bohrmann, I also picked up this Bartender's Guide purely based on aesthetics and nothing else. I was recommended the other guide through a coworker, but as I stated in the review: my main complaint with it was that there wasn't enough photographs of the cocktails. This bartender's guide is exactly the opposite! Every page has a photograph! Most of the recipes also tell you which type of glassware to use, which is helpful while I'm learning the different standards of bartending. I've noticed that glassware isn't commonly included in other guides, so this tip is definitely appreciated!

In the introduction there are different sections about what drinks are made from and a little background information on them. I enjoyed this section because I think it's helpful to have a good understanding of what you are serving and also something to talk about with customers. All I have to do now is just start memorizing!
