Lost Gods #2

Underworld Rising

Rate this book
When Zoe stood on the edge of a volcano and chose between two loves, one a god and one a man, she may have sealed the fate of the earth. And the earth is in trouble

The Lost Gods story continues with Underworld Rising. Earth’s climate is under attack because of Hephaestus’ curse. On top of that, the world is on the verge of war with the Underworld because the goddess Hera has stirred up the ancient hatred between Cyclopes and humans. Hera will stop at nothing, even the destruction of the earth’s people, to destroy Zoe, the daughter of the woman who stole Zeus’s heart. It may all come down to the choices Zoe makes with her own heart. She has an important destiny and it will determine the fate of the world.

A high stakes love triangle, Underworld Rising is Book Two in the Lost Gods Series. Those who start the series with this title have the opportunity to go back for the whole story by reading the first in the series, Goddess of Rain.

I was given a copy to review via Love Book Tours as part of their book tour. My reviews are always honest and all opinions are my own. #UnderworldRising #JaneFrkovich #LoveBookTours #BookTourReview #BookTour #BookReview #LBTCrew

I feel like I need to say that firstly I have not read the first book in the series, Goddess of Rain, but thanks to Jane Frkovich’s writing and recap you are able to start with this book first. The other thing is while romance is not normally a genre I go for the paranormal and Greek Mythology elements had me intrigued and I have to say I did enjoy this one.

In Underworld Rising Eather’s climate is under attack because of Hephaestus’ curse. As if this was not bad enough the Goddess Hera is trying to start a war between the Underworld and Earth between Cyclopes and humans. Hera will not stop until she has destroyed Zoe, the daughter of one of Zeus’ many affairs and arguably the one woman who stole his heart. Zoe may be the key to saving or condemning the world with the choice she makes with her own heart.

One thing I did enjoy about Underworld Rising was the Gods and Goddesses and how they are brought to life. They fit perfectly within the setting and it was brilliant to read the way that Frkovich envisions them. I also loved the writing style. It was easy to follow but the only issue meant that it was easy to fall into the one more chapter trap.

Zoe was a good protagonist as well and enjoyed following her journey and choices in the story. I will admit I was worried she may be too much of a perfect protagonist but she was very human in her rationalising and how she dealt with situations which I really enjoyed. I will definitely be reading Goddess of Rain and any future works by this author.

The second installment of The Lost God series is just as much fun to read as the first book. Zoe is a great main character and she is someone we can all relate to and sympathise with. I still really like the mythology side to the story and how the Gods are portrayed. Overall this is a good sequel to a quirky series.

I received a gifted copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion and written voluntarily.

Thank you to the author for the ARC. The paperback book had a slightly waxy thick cover and white thick pages

🌻SpLD comments (from a dyslexic)🌻
White pages and the font choice are normally a challenge for my dyslexia however the author has kept the chapters short and impactful making it easy to read.

🎨 Artwork 🎨
I love the bright and firey pallet on the cover. The cover definately drew me to book.

✒️ Style & Plot 📉
I hadn't read Book 1 in the Lost God Series but Book 2 works well as a stand alone. The authors character building in the female protagonist is excellent. Also the world building and relationship with mythology and Gods are really well portrayed.

This is the eagerly awaited book 2 of the Lost God's Series. And whilst I didn’t actually read Book1, you do get a recap at the beginning. This is helpful but I would advise you read book 1 Goddess of Rain first.

This genre of book is so different from anything I’ve ever read, and the entire thing felt like a fever dream. At just under 200 pages, it is a very quick read. But there is also so much happening in such quick succession, it can be a bit full-on. I did like the take on Greek Mythology and it was interesting to read about and I ended up going down a Google rabbit-hole after I finished, researching them more 👀. Not my usual scene, but it was interesting. I actually think my daughter would really love this sort of book, so going to pass it on to her and see what her take is 😊

Jane Frkovich - Underworld rising

Thank you so much Jane Frkovich and Love book tours for gifting us a paperback copy of 'underworld rising' in exchange for an honest review.

Following Zoe on her crusade to protect Earth from climate change and the war raging from the underworld. I have not read book 1 so the summary was really important at filling me in on the intricate back story and helped me understand the characters more. This book is action packed, filled with warring  Greek gods, space and a love story there is something on every page to keep you engaged. I enjoyed this book and will go back to read book 1.

Book two of the Lost God Series was much faster paced than the first book. Jane did wonderful job of incorporating Greek mythologies as a background to her modern day books.

While Zoe is continuing to navigate her love life through different eras, and continue attempting to save the planet from Haphetus' curse, a new lead character comes into play.

Hamish has traveled to Salmon Arm, British Columbia to play hockey more seriously when he is visited by a mysterious lady. While looking for.her he is introduced the gods and begins to learn about the powers he possesses.

I received an advance copy from Love Books Tours in exchange of an honest review.

This is book two of The Lost Gods series and we are back following Zoe's story. The book picks up where the first book left off. More mythology gods are introduced in this book and the author brings them live perfectly. Zoe is still fighting to save the world.
1 enjoyed book two of the series and can't wait to find out what's next.

Y'all I was so excited for this book. It's book 2 in the series and definitely recommend reading them both. I was hoping for so many answers in book 2 but now I'm just left with more questions and wanting to read book 3 right now !!! I can't these books just want more I need to know what is going to happen next. And the fact this is left on a cliff hanger is so much more frustrating and I need to read more. I love this author!! I love how these books are so real and truly so good !!!

I was lucky enough to get a physical ARC of this book, and I thank the author and @lovebookstours for the opportunity.

This book continues where the first one left off. It didn't quite hit as good as the first book, which was a shame, but nevertheless, it was still enjoyable.

Like its predecessor, this book also didn't take itself too seriously, and I feel like that is something to now expect from the author.

Like the first book, this book is influenced by Greek mythology but amps it up in this one, and I think that's what held my attention.

Zoe, however, felt a little off in this book, and I feel like that may be down to the lack of character development. I feel like she didn't do anything that made her character better, but that's okay because she is still a good main character.

Overall, it is an enjoyable sequel.
