Robot kidnappers, poltergeist weapon-smugglers, demon terrorists, gremlin moonshiners--"Bureau 13" is the ultra-covert branch of the FBI assigned to handle supernatural criminals. The public doesn’t know they exist, until a massive jail break from the Bureau 13 Holding Facility happens.
I went searching for something new to read, saw a few reviews comparing this to X-Files and Hitchhiker's, and decided to buy it on a whim.
I'm glad I did so! A very fun read with many original ideas that often made me laugh out loud and kept up a quick pace that had me speeding through it eagerly. This is the first Bureau 13 book I've read but I'm already planning to read the others, and I have a feeling I'll come back to this one and read it again in the future several times over.
It's amazing the type of tales one can tell in the first-person POV. Pollotta's no joke, when it comes to imaginative writing. I aspire to be anywhere near as good someday. For now, I can just promise you that this books is funny, awesome, intriguing, and unpredictable. Any sci-fi geek should LOVE it.
The first book i read in the series and i re-read it multiple times. A great read and for the only time in the series we get to see the infamous B13 prison. I only wish there were more than just the few books in this series.
A fun over the top super-science/fantasy romp as a Bureau 13 team battles a would-be world-conquering villain. If you want anything remotely serious, don't bother with this book, but if you want silly adventure you'll enjoy this.
A silly fun series that I have read many times since picking them up. My copies of the Ace editions of the series are actually falling apart at this point, with pages falling out.
