Five Frontiers

Rate this book
FIVE FRONTIERS concerns a group of young men and one young woman in conflict with a Russian agency charged with the destruction, by atomic infernal machines, of selected targets throughout Europe and Asia which would have rendered a Third World War unnecessary. That part of the story which is played out in the Himalayas is part of yet another round in the Great Game, as it is called - the struggle for ascendancy in Central Asia which has been going on since long before the Indian Mutiny. It is the story of a quest which leads our team of mountaineers and boatmen from the storm-tossed waters of the Hebrides to the Maritime Alps and thence to the valleys of Nepal. The romantic grandeur of the background, brilliantly described by Mr Murray, emphasizes the physical stresses and hazards of an enthralling story.
