After reading two other books by Patrick Thomas and really enjoying them, I took the step into his Murphy's Lore series.

Shadow of the Wolf is the story of a werewolf named Ted who has his wife and children kidnapped by a government agent who also happens to be a werewolf. Did I mention that Ted's wife is a wolf (not a werewolf)? Oh. And their children are reverse werewolves who are human during the full moon.

Anyway, Ted's family is kidnapped by government agent Buck Lang. Buck bests Ted in front of his family and Ted must not only rescue his family, but restore his alpha position by taking Buck down whith his family watching.

Things should be easy for Ted. He's got tons of powerful friends. These include a vampire, a djinn, and a leprachaun. I shit you not. These are just the tip of the iceberg in this series.

Unfortunately, some things must be done without help. This includes the fight between Buck and Ted. Ted has to do it on his own. That doesn't mean his friends can't help him get ready for the showdown.

Sadly, things take a turn for the worse. Buck goes off the grid and knows how to lay low.

This was a smooth and fun read. The characters are interesting and creative. Thomas has a great writing style. The universe he created with his works has me definitely wanting to read more. More people definitely need to add his books to their wish lists or just pick one up to try it out.

Not alot to say here, but this is a great short little book. Their is a huge mix of characters rangeing from greek gods to magi to vampire and werewolves and so much more. Their is a lot of humor and funny moments. But there also real emotion and touching scense. And all of this is set in a urban fantasy setting with a large cat of characters that are lovable even if their flawed. And for anyone with a sense of potty humor there even alittle of that mixed in but not to great so if that isn't your thing it doesn't take away from the story. All around a great read.
