A sharp new play with an offbeat view of Labour's famous 1997 victory. The Tories, eighteen years in power, are defeated as New Labour sweeps into government. From the euphoria and despair, three deeply personal stories emerge.
Jack Thorne (born 6 December 1978) is an English screenwriter and playwright.
Born in Bristol, England, he has written for radio, theatre and film, most notably on the TV shows Skins, Cast-offs, This Is England '86, This Is England '88, This Is England '90, The Fades, The Last Panthers and the feature film The Scouting Book for Boys. He currently lives in London.
I saw this at the small Bush Theatre in London. It ran without an interval and the theatre, tickets but no reserved seats, was almost full. The stage was in the middle of two banks of seats, in traverse, which allowed the audience opposite's reaction to be gauged. They, and I, enjoyed every minute. Each of the three sets of actors played off each other wonderfully. Pheobe Waller-Bridge was excellent as the drunken Sarah: "I went home with the wrong guy".
Warning, there may be some nudity, there certainly was at The Bush.
