Lori Copeland
195 books532 followersLori Copeland was born on 12 June 1941. She had a relatively late start in writing, breaking into publishing in 1982 when she was already forty years old. Over the next dozen years, her romance novels achieved much success, as was evidenced by her winning the Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award, The Holt Medallion, and Walden Books' Best Seller award. She has been inducted into the Missouri Writers Hall of Fame.
Despite her success in more mainstream romantic fiction, in 1995, she decided to switch focus. Her subsequent books have been in the relatively new subgenre of Christian romance. She has also collaborated with authors Angela Elwell Hunt or Virginia Smith on a series of Christian romance novels.
Lori and her husband of over forty years, Lance, live in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by the beautiful Ozarks. They have three grown sons, three daughter-in-laws, and six wonderful grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. She and her husband are very involved in their church, and active in supporting mission work in Mali, West Africa.

So -- orphan trains, bride ships, now bride wagons. I'm getting quite an education.

In this episode Jackson is driving a wagon, escorting five women to Denver City as mail-order brides. Naïve and now orphaned, Glory needs to escape the clutches of her uncle. She finds a sort of sanctuary with them. But troubles along the way seem to find them.
Pretty good, very quick book. Extremely clean romance.

This was a fun read about a feisty, yet naive and innocent orphan, Glory, who attaches herself to a wagon full of mail-order brides going West. I loved Glory’s spunk and her ability to remain true to who she is, even when it doesn’t really “fit in”.
The five “brides” and their stories was a nice addition. I loved the way they all embraced Glory, made her a part of their little family, and helped her grow, each using her own gifts and skills to benefit the whole.
To me, this felt like an Old West mix of “My Fair Lady” and “Orphan Annie”, but I liked it!

Glory is an easy read with plenty of action. Glory was raised by a Poppy after being found on a trail. She didn’t have domestic skills but sure knew survival skills and skills men did. When she was found by a Mail-Order bride wagon going west after running from Poppy’s mean brother she joined them but then disembarked. Oh my, trouble arose for her that very night. Eventually she was persuaded to stay with the wagon girls and Jackson. Glory gained so much to be able to care for herself with domestic skills, writing, reading and learning God’s Word while traveling. The story is filled with ups and downs, letting go and learning to trust others and God’s leading for each one traveling with Jackson.

November 30, 2024I read Glory in high school - teenage Kate was a BIG fan of the Christian western historical romance novels... So when my sister asked what I was reading for fun (current reads: Running Scared, Matthew Perry's autobiography, a study on Revelation, and Habits for a Sacred Home), I knew I had to dig into the archives to bring out a beloved favorite from over a decade ago. A light read with cliche phrases and some inconsistencies, but exactly what I needed in the midst of some heavy reads.

Hmm...I thought I'd reviewed this one already. Oh, well. No time like the present!
Glory is one of my favorite romance books ever. I could read it over and over. It's fun, plain and simple. There are moments of humor, romance, sadness, fear, uncertainty, and victory. It's a sweet coming-of-age romance story that just pulls you in.
Glory is a wonderful main character. Her growth throughout the book is compelling, at least to me. The other characters are equally well done, as are the villains. And the setting is beautiful. It makes me visit the west even more.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves Christian romance with a dash of adventure and humor.

Snowstorm. Using the animal they kill to stay warm "Star Wars on Ice Planet Hoth" style. Wagon train full of mail order brides. Romance. Dire straits. Guy doesn't want to get married but falls in love anyhow. They is all very God-fearin' folk. I liked these when I first read them when I was a great deal less picky, but they definitely don't stand up well when re-examined.

This was a very unique story! I loved Glory's transformation as she began to know Christ and gained some womanly skills! I can't wait to continue these stories and read about more of the brides! Book 4 has only one scene that connects it to the three sisters that started this collection.

This was so good! Definitely my kind of book and I will be so excited when I can read the last two books in the series. This was humorous and heart warming with a bit of action and suspense thrown in. With the underlying Christian theme, I really couldn't ask for anything more.

I found this book setting on top of the bookcase at a library, and it caught my attention. This is the first book I have ever read of Lori Copeland and really enjoyed it and it was a page turner and there was some light sides in the plot. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the Brides of the West series and other books of Ms. Copeland

Hmmm, I think I mixed up Glory and Ruth...lol...very easy to do with Lori Copeland books. This is the one that reminded me of my childhood "hillbilly" book read. All the books were easy to read. Silly, but I think, I hope my mom will like them because I'm sending them to her. Lots of Christian talk in them. I don't mind Christian talk. In fact, I'm reading lots of serious deep Christ-centered non-fiction books currently. But when a salvation message is forced into a fictional novel, it can be a bit much. The series was nice escapist literature or if one doesn't want to call them literature, then nice comfy escapist fiction.

This is the 4th book of the series but its not about the sisters. However, don't discount it is still funny. Glory's Poppy is trying to marry her off but because of the way she was raised she gets returned every time. This time however, Poppy has died and leaves her alone. His brother, Amos tries to break in on her and take her inheritance so she escapes and has God would have it gets picked up by a wagon headed with Mail Order brides in it. She goes from one extreme to the other until she settles in for the ride and learns that God really does have Angels watching over us. I loved it!

This is a continuation series after the original trilogy about 3 sisters who chose to be Mail order Brides! In this book, the last sister gets a cameo scene, and I loved hearing how she and her sisters were doing! Character transformations as well as forgiveness and mercy are huge themes, along with faith in the Lord! I was able to read a copy of this book via Hoopla, but it did not in any way affect my review. All opinions are my own.

Thoroughly enjoy the journey of faith with Glory in this book. Also, love to see the other believers work together to meet her needs, whether she is aware of them or not. Beautiful picture of true love.

An enchanting and difficult journey to the west.
I am amazed when I read of the difficult travels and living conditions that existed in the 1800's. The characters were intriguing and inspiring.

The book is light-hearted, entertaining, and funny. Yes, it is by a Christian author, but this one is not so preachy and has a great plot. The characters in the book are well-developed and interesting. I am excited to continue the next two books in the series.
