Quran, Hadith, and Islam

Rate this book
One of the most important books on the topic, this ground-breaking work offers unique insight into the role of the Quran, and Hadith, in modern-day Islam. Hadith, a collection of sayings attributed to the prophet Muhammad, have long been accepted alongside the Quran, as integral to Islamic thought and practices. This book exposes the damage it has done. A must read for all students of Islam.

no matter what kind opinion people say about the author, he has indirectly challenged the role of ulamak or the religious authorities into matters deemed sensitive to the general public.

This is important as this book helps Muslims to revisit the orthodoxy thinking that has been indoctrinated by the religious authorities for many years.

I don't recommend this book to anyone. I kind of agree with the general idea, but not with the content of the book. He doesn't only take verses out of context but also misinterprets them, in order to reconcile between the Quran and his personal convictions. No good author twists the truth in order to prove himself right, regardless if he's truly right or not.

A bit dated now, there are more sophisticated writings that question the validity of the hadith in the light of the Quran, but a good start for anyone getting started in evaluating the validity of hadith in Islam.

It makes so much sense why practices of Islam have gone so corrupted and far away from what is in the script. I enjoyed reading the book a lot and it answered to many of my questions.
