Four very helpful short essays by British authors: 1) Making time, 2) Bible reading, 3) Prayer, 4) Christ. I was a teenager when I first read this booklet from 1947. Not sure what young adults think today of “quiet times.” Rereading this booklet over the last few days, I recognize the solid foundation it gave mine.

The version now in print is a somewhat abbreviated and simplified version of the original booklet I describe here (“Inter-Varsity Papers #1”).

Short, but like drinking from a fire hose. Lots of good stuff, however I began to feel overwhelmed and like I’d need a checklist to make sure my quiet time contained everything they suggested, even though they were somehow trying to simplify the concept for people…? If I was to try to tell a new Christian what a quiet time might be like, I think I’d put these ideas into my own words rather than give them this book. But for someone further along in their walk, this is a good refresher and inspiration.

First published in 1945 by InterVarsity Press in the United States, the thirty-page booklet influenced and shaped generations of Christians. Today "Quiet time" is not an unfamiliar term in the Christian faith. The booklet provides simple and practical advices for quiet time and its components. Though it was written 74 years ago, the wisdom in these words remains relevant today.

A classic for walking the walk of faith

Great straightforward review and wonderful encouragement for every disciple. Prioritizes the basic steps while pointing out pitfalls that often hinder disciples.
