For those who focus on the positive thinking and the mindset this book will show that in order to have functional software (mind) you need to have also properly set hardware (brain). This book helps you to discover the imbalance if you have any, what are the moods and substances responsible for that, how you see external world because of that and how you experience it. Find the imbalance in your diet and change it so you can live life with emotions you want. It all starts with the food you eat. Great book!

This is the hard work of anxiety and depression that is easily matched with a nice free easy script. I appreciate the holistic nature, 2 explanations, and focus on mental work. Definitely outdated tho—demonizes fat and accepts processed foods. Would be interesting to see updated

Great info

This is great information and very direct. Not filled with hard to understand medical jargon. I look forward to following the guidelines and improving my brain health.

I think this book is really great. The later chapters are obviously more meaty and helpful, like I found chapters is Ch 6 on Triggers and 7 overviewing specifically in categories from food to music to boost different neurotransmitters--take a little time to stop reading through the pages and do your own work on a notepad answering the questions, or looking up the music on youtube.
The most annoying part of this book, although he does warn you of it, is that the personality type descriptions are oversimplified and sometimes unsophisticated, in terms of all the personality typology systems out there...I kept thinking that there was lots of conflation of different Enneatypes under just the two categories. However, this should NOT stop anyone from reflecting on the information and truth underlying both these types and taking the steps seriously; you should continue reading the book, just also add study of the Enneagram to your personal growth repertoire :)

This is a great book for many person. I recommend it for those with moderate or mild depression, as well as for those with severe depression. It can help all of the above, and give insight into acquiring, or developing, good mental health, in general. There are many thoughts expressed here, many of which are very insightful.

The correlation between music and depression is established, helping the reader to realize that his or her choices in music, in both the time spent, as well as the intensity, can in fact, affect one's mood, and ultimately, be one contributing factor in depression. Great book.

There is no definitive, one size fits all book on depression, but this book is very insightful and helpful.

Recommended reading for YogaFit. I own a Kindle edition ebook. Interesting way to treat depression without drugs. From personal experience, I can concur that spending time outside is a great help for me as well as yoga. I can see that I need to increase my protein to increase dopamine and nor-epinephrine. Good book to refer back to.

This was a very easy-to-read look into how your brain chemistry (yes, I said those words together) plays a huge role in depression and how you can make simple changes in your diet and exercise to adjust your baseline and start feeling better.
