She Broke Up, I Didn t! is a novel that takes a nasty dig at relationships, love and fidelity and what it means today. It tackles some of the very uncomfortable questions and tries to put those into perspective. It s the story of Deb and Avantika, , two management students whose pretty as a picture life is is thrown off track, after Deb, drunk as a pig goes ahead and kisses a classmate. To forgive is divine? Especially when it is just a mistake! What will Avantika do? Will she be able to forgive him? And what if Deb does it again? What if Avantika goes ahead and does the same? This is the story of a group of friends who battle the questions of infidelity, loyalty and love as they step out of their colleges. Is lust different from love? Are girls more tolerant? What would hurt you more? Your partner writing a love song for someone else? Or sleeping with someone else? Is the answer any different for the two sexes?
I previously hadn't even bothered to rate/review this book. However, I am tired of seeing recommendations of similar books from GoodReads on my newsfeed, which I have no intention whatsoever of ever picking up. So, that's that.
The time I wasted reading this book is I am never going to get back!!! There is NO LOGIC AT ALL!! I wish we had some good writers in India. That’s it I am never going to read another book by Durjoy Datta.
My feelings towards this book is more than pain. Its really irritating to read a book, from which you are expecting wonders, only to find yourself utterly disappointed.
As the name suggests, this book is about the modern Love Stories, supposedly, happening throughout the teenage populace of India. It tells us about a suspicious lad, taking frequent doubts on his girlfriend.
The thing i like about this book is
Nothing. It fails to convey the message its supposed to, it does not give you a satisfying ending, it makes you destroy the wall using your fists, simply because it has no happy ending.
No semblance of sense in any of the pages. Wish we had meaningful books published by Indian authors. Its a shame that publishing houses cannot distinguish the good and worthy books from the rest.
I think Indian fiction is more of a business now. Every Indian Fiction author/writer keeps a catchy tag line (popularly known as book names) and same old story concept. Not a great fan of Indian Fiction anymore. Sorry, but if you want 5 stars, write something which has never been written before. All of Durjoy's stories/novels follow somewhat the same concept. It's basically for those who have no choice of books.
One of the finest novels I ever read. This book contains everyone's favorite stuff, which most resists to accept, few feels disgusting about it..It is about sex..sex and sex.. this is as gripping...So I will say I liked. With mystery in every page...twist in every line,,after the book is good...Hundred times better than Chetan Bhagat. The ending is really unpredictable and I wholeheartedly appreciate the author at least for giving a different story with boredom of sentiments and masala mix.. yet the story as a whole is awful while comparing it with other good books, which had brilliant stories. his writing style is good but not his contents... wish he could concentrate on story and characterisation

Book Review
“Have you read Durjoy?” my friend asked me one day.
“No,” I said “I haven’t. What is so exceptional in his books?” I shrugged.
“He is an awesome author of romance genre and very popular among youth,” he tried to prove his opinion.
“Yes, I have also heard about Durjoy, but I have yet to read his books,” I said.
That was the day when I decided to go for a purchase few books by Durjoy. After few days I ordered online a set of books written by the charming, chocolaty author Durjoy Dutta. Indeed a famous and an eminent personality among the Indian youth. The box set I ordered had three books i.e. Of Course I Love You Till I Find Someone Better, Now That You’re Rich Let’s Fall in Love and She Broke Up I Didn’t I Just Kissed Someone Else. Well, two books were co-authored by Maanvi Ahuja so I picked up She Broke Up I Didn’t, the solo work of Durjoy presuming that it will give a better insight of his style of writing.
I find very difficult to read books at a stretch when I am home so I decided to finish it up during one of my journey from Udaipur to Jaipur. I don’t have anything else than reading when I am traveling alone. I devoured the entire book during the journey and what I felt I am sharing with you.
The writing style of Durjoy, no doubt, is very compelling and impressive. Anyone who will read and look at his innocent face (I am talking about his photograph on the inner cover) will definitely fall in love. I’m not speaking about guys to fall in love with him but they may if they wish to, no comments on this; guys.
Let’s talk about the most important thing – the story line of She Broke Up. The story starts with a twist in their career of the two protagonists Deb and Avantika when the duo kick off their jobs and take admission in MDI, a top notch management institution in Gurgaon. One thing which I felt that why the book acclaimed potential to drag the attention of youth. Right from the beginning i.e. from chapter one; it arouses reader’s sensation with the act of love making in the hostel room. Chapter one is enough to pace up heartbeats and leave the reader gulping pretending the recurring act of mingling two naked human bodies throughout the book. But it is not the case actually.
Although it is author’s perspective how he or she presents the story but I am still puzzled to rationalize that is this real story of management institutions in our country where hostel rooms are moreover utilized for having sex? Or perhaps the author might have used it as added flavors & preservatives in his story.
Coming back to the fiction again, as we know it is a love story where Deb madly loves Avantika and meanwhile he also hates his classmate Kabir. Presence of Kabir and demeanors of Deb reflects his obsession towards Avantika. Debut of Malini, another classmate, introduces twist in the story. Deb accidentally kisses Malini and on the other hand Avantika sleeps with Kabir which first makes it a love triangle and then a love quadrangle. Albeit, there is something which is not true about this love quadrangle and the way Avantika had pretended to Deb is somewhere unrealistic. This is the point which weakens the plot of the story otherwise it has come up brilliantly. Indeed, I am not at all impressed with sex and vodka poured into the fiction or the other way one can say that the story wouldn’t have come up without sex and vodka. As I have said earlier that it is all about author’s perspective, author is always right because imagination is never wrong.
Revealing the climax in this review will be entirely injustice to the work of author. At the end I will say that irrespective of the storyline, plot and climax, if you really wish to enjoy the work of this young fellow I will definitely say – go with it and read it. Even myself after reading She Broke Up I Didn’t I can proudly say that yes I have read Durjoy!
Note: The review of the book She Broke Up I Didn’t is purely personal views of the author.
This book, oh my God!! Such a horrible book. The worst book I have ever read till date. Totally sucked and some of the parts were awfully boring. Like seriously? How can someone lie to his/her partner? Who tests anyone like that? Deb and Avantika were two such people who were madly in love with each other. Then Deb kissed a girl, Malini and Avantika broke all contacts with him for God-knows-how-many days or rather months. Durjoy Datta likes to concentrate on tragedies and sad feelings rather than relationships. He likes to describe every minute of tragedy after breaking up. Horrible book. I dont know how but my friends love this book. And I swear never to choose any Durjoy Datta book from now on.
The book is literally rubbish. It only deals with love confused as lust! Deb and Avantika lead their relationship overpowered by sex, drinking and other stuffs. The only moral we get at the end of the book is 'Lust has nothing to do with love.' Total rubbish!
This was my first book from the author and i had some high expectation seeing the title but sadly it was not the book for me.
It was good in the beginning but got boring and predictable midway and after a while i just did not care what happened next anymore. Its basically the guy meets the girl and then they fall in love and decide to stay together for the rest of their lives against all odds until the guy gets drunk and kisses some other girl twice and this marks the turning or should I say breaking point of their relationship.Too much confusion and therefore chaos comes in the story midway
Though the story started on a good note it lost its momentum halfway and i just did not care about the story after a while. The writing was too monotonous and i thought the author was stretching the story too much.
One more by the way of Durjoy Dutta and it was just nice not too funny or interesting. I have all the books by Durjoy and soon I would read remaining books too.
People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is, of course, Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
awwww.. i totally fell i love with deb :) (durjoy as well)... gosh!! the way he expresses his love for avantika... awesome..!! words.. words that make the person feel wanted and special... amazing... it feels so good to be in love.. cnt just tell you how many times i read the book.. those lines where he expresses the love he has for her... so romantic.... lovely story.. i loved the book so much just like every other book of durjoy... not able to come out of it yet.. it's all about them forgiving each other .. when deb kisses his classmate avantika forgives him.. but when she just lies to him that she does the same thing .. he just walks out.. and in the end he still waits to patch up with her..... it just and incident but the way he's brought out it .. awesome.. i loved it so much...
expected a lot better..its somehow makes me feel there is nothing like true love..its all about hurting girls because only they have true feelings..guys out there only can take advantages of girls who love them..story is not properly narrated..there is a lot which seemed missing and ending is so not up to the mark.. :(
One more useless book from an Indian author who just tried to be another stupid Chhedan Batakh. I was told he is best in writing Novels based on love n relationship and thankfully I found how worse he is and where Indian readers are heading. I had stopped books of CB, SG, SP and will include DD.
Its better to read Hindi novels than wasting time and money on these writers.
One sensible indian fiction I would say. This book talks about what are the current trends in the youth and tells us about how fickle-minded men are. It also talks about how those in relationship take each other casually. A decent book for leisure reading.
after reading ds book i fell in love with durjoy datta....i mn d way he described avantika n malini was simply awesome...it left me spellbound...i cud see avantika's image in ma imagination...d book is totally different n i recommend every1 to go through it once...
just another - waste - of - time - like - novel full of lust/love/confusions !! you can do something better than reading such books. #bored of romance novels #let it go #rotten
Okay this book had way too many controversial topics. And I'm not even sure about my views on most of them. But still ot was wayyyy tooooo interesting. I cannot keep the book down. And that's why I'm giving it a solid 4 stars. Cause it made me think about how I looked at things. About forgiving smone after they cheat. About if love is more than that. I liked how the book unfolds itself slowly but at a good pace. Which keeps the reader involved.
I really got irritated by some stuff in the book and it smtimes made no sense. The plot and the story line wasn't that good. The writing style. My god. The writing style was kind of poor and the author didn't bother to introduce much characters in the story. It possibly had like less than 10 names of characters. And that wasn't satisfying. The main character deb was poorly written it was like deb is the most self conscious person ever and for him his girlfriend is everything. Cause she's hot. That's it. And I hated that part of the book. Their relationship was sooooo noottt it. Soo not worth it. The guy never thought he deserved her. Because she looked way better than him. And he was totally depended on her ( like most of the indian guys)
I get what the author was trying to indicate through the book but didn't so such a great task.
One last problem i have is howww can u use so many exclamation mark. After every sentence. It was so freaking irritating. It got to my nerves. 😑
Even tho I liked the book. I didn't liked what it had to tell or anything. I liked the pace. I liked how after such a long time i finished the book in a matter of 3-4 days.
