About the author

Annie grew up as an only child in the English countryside during the 1950s. Her father was not always around but when he was, he would tell her fantastical stories, often with her as the principal character. Annie missed him and his stories, which led her to the fantasy section at her local library, thus sparking life-long love of fiction.

After undertaking jobs such as waitressing, cleaning and factory work, Annie went on to study at University of Warwick and soon started writing.

Annie lives in Norfolk. She has three children, Anna, Reuben, and Maria (the inspiration for the first “Angels Unlimited” book, “Winging It”) and two grandchildren, Sophie and Isabella.

I read this series when I was in grade nine, and loved them so much... now, when I re-read them, they're still good but clearly for younger teenagers. I finished the book in little more than an hour.

I like the concept of it: dead girl in heaven, sent to go back in time to be an angel in all those historical events we know of... it's charming, really.

I recommend this series for budding readers (young girls in the ages between 10-15) who are looking for a good story with a relatable main character.

Not as good as the first book, but another very quick read. I wish I had read the rest of this series as a kid, I know I would have loved it for sure.

Die Autorin versteht es, die Leserschaft sofort in die Geschichte zu holen. Der Schreibstil ist so lebendig und humorvoll, dass auch die traurigen Szenen unterhaltsam sind. Alle Charaktere sind so plastisch beschrieben, dass man sich ein sehr gutes und umfassendes Bild vom Geschehen machen kann. Die Weiterentwicklung der Protagonistin ist deutlich erkennbar, ohne dass hierauf der Fokus gelegt wurde. Die Reihe ist zwar für ein deutlich jüngeres Publikum geschrieben, doch würde ich diese Bücher immer auch Erwachsenen empfehlen, die sich für Engel und deren Aufgaben begeistern können.

In the second book Mel and her friends Lola and Reuben are sent to the 16th century to sort out a crisis.

I liked the way this book took a different direction to the first one and integrated history. I love the way Mel discovers even more that there is more to life than fashion and boys.

Une lecture détente qui remplit mes attentes. Alors ça reste du Jeunesse mais l’aventure est au rendez-vous, tout comme le mystère ou les rebondissements.

Un récit léger avec un petit côté historique. J'ai d'ailleurs eu des doutes sur l'identité du personnage historique qu'ils rencontrent ici. Une lecture agréable avec du mystère sans être trop alambiquée. Le rythme de l'intrigue est régulier ce qui donne une lecture assez addictive et rapide. Ce que les chapitres courts accentuent. L'intrigue inclut ce qui semble être le fil rouge de la saga avec un mystère sous-jacent.

La narratrice s’adresse à nous, j’adore. Elle est pétillante et c’est sympa de la suivre. Tous les personnages rencontrés sont intéressants. Ils semblent tous avoir une place, un rôle pour nourrir l’intrigue. Le trio est assez complémentaire. L’adversaire croisé m’intrigue, il semble avoir sa place dans le fil rouge des différents tomes.

L’univers proposé - ces anges qui œuvrent pour les vivants - me plait. Même l’archange Michael est là ! Beau gosse, bien sûr - on suit tout de même une adolescente ^^ Le fait qu’ils soient envoyés en mission est intéressant et promet diverses aventures.

Bref, tout ça pour dire que j’ai envie de poursuivre la saga !

Very interesting second book - there is character development, a more complicated plot as Mel delves further into her new role and world, and a great twist ending!

I don't have much to say that differs from the first volume, only that I had avoided it for several weeks.

Athough part of that was due to an obligation to other hobbies, another part was the pacing of these books seems off, which especially goes for this volume. I usually don't struggle with the later half of a book and even rush through the climax and end, but not only was the first half of this book dull and slow moving, it felt like that for most of it.

I forgot who Chance was since reading it the first time though, so that was a pleasant surprise!

I like this one! It reminds me of that episode of Doctor Who. The one where they meet Shakespeare? Yeah, that one. Cause it's set in Elizabethan London.

I haven't started the next one yet, but I'm working on it. I can't actually remember what it is about, so I can't wait to read it and find out!

I'm not editing my rating, because that's reflective of my enjoyment of this series as a whole when I was the right target age.

I'm currently re reading this whole series and it certainly hasn't disappointed on the childhood nostalgia front! Still entertaining, would still recommend to preteens and very young teens.
