An Engineer of Words

Rate this book
This book marks Carl Scott Harker’s twelfth collection of poetry, a selection chosen from poems written between January 1, 2022 and August 31, 2022. Enclosed in this volume you will find story poems, biographical poems, silly poems, poems that rhyme and many that do not. There are philosophical verses, spiritual verses and social verses, too. Some poems are written in the female voice and some poems are written in a male voice. “It seems to me, that at this point in my career, I am like an engineer being given a set of blueprints and told to build what the diagrams instruct. The results are that I have built a house here, a bridge there, here an office building, there a freeway following a river, that runs through a lovely park and so on. Hopefully, if my interpretations of these blueprints of the world around me are any good, these poems will enlighten, entertain, bring out laughter and/or provide food for serious thought. “I do not pretend to write literature. I just try putting forward something, anyone can read and enjoy. If I have managed to do that, perhaps, by the end of this book, the reader will be able to say, ‘I’d sure like to have another serving of poetry, real soon...’”
