Cold As Ice is the 11th book in the Drama High Series. In this book Jayd has to study for the Advanced Placement Exams, her and Jerem are back togehtor and tighter then ever. Her life is starting to fall apart, her friend Mickey is being more catty then usual because of her preganancy and her whole crew is tripping becuase she would rather work on her test and focus on her relationhip andher birthday rather than care about a party for a kid that's not even her's when she's been nothing but supportive. There's alot of drama in Jayds future in this novel.
I think this is a text to world. I think it's a text to world becuase while not everyone has a pregnant bestfriend who is lying about the father of her child or a friend who tries so hard to be white they have issues with friends and relationships. Everythin just catched up with some people just when they thought they were drama free. But some people need to focus on them selves for once and not on what other people want.
I gave the book five stars becuase i absolutely LOVED the book. I thought about how while some people didn't like Jayd for being her self other did. For example Jayds teacher Mrs. Bennett is a hater and was totally mean to Jayd saying Jeremy was to good for her the first time they went out, also Jeremys mother is as much a hater seeing as both those women are best friends, but Chance who is Jayds friends Jeremys best friend an Nellies boy friend his mother loved Jayd and absolustely despises Nellie. Also Nigels mother who is Nigels mother and Mickeys boy frend loves Jayd and can't stand Mickey because she's a ghetto gorgeus gurl who can't seem to know who the father of her baby is. The book was just awsome I can;t wait for the next one.

I picked 5 stars because in the book, the author gave details and reasons and answers. Other people should read it because its really funny and if you like books that leaves you hanging you got the right book cause it will leave you hanging. To make the book better she should have put Jayd momma and moma point of view in there and also Rah to get a better point of view but when she made it seem like Jayd can read people minds it made it better cause we can know whats going on in their head.

Cold As Ice
While making up (and out) Jeremy asks Jayd for full disclosure, but she knows she’ll never be able to give him that. As he leaves to go practice for a surfing competition he tells her he loves her. Jayd goes over to Nigel’s where everyone else is hanging out. Rah acts like a lil punk because he saw Jeremy and Jayd kissing and walks out. Mrs. Esop reminds Jayd of the deal they made (she’ll come to the shower if Jayd attends a deb meeting). Jayd goes to chase after Rah but he’s already left. Mickey the next day accuses Jayd as trying to get in good with Mrs. Esop. Jayd tries to explain *why* she did it but Mickey calls her a traitor and walks off. Later (because of Nigel) she leaves Jayd a half-ass apology on her voicemail. At Mama’s, Mama and Jayd prepare for the spring rituals coming up, Jayd fills Mama in about the weekend and having to pick Rahema up from the strip joint. Mama tells her they don’t participate in trifling behavior and gives her some herbs to get the negative essence off her. Mama says all money ain’t good money and Jayd thinks she will NEVER sell herself out like that to be dependant on a man for his ends.

Jayd has a dream that she’s writing her story in the dark. She finishes, walks outside, and slips on black ice. When she wakes up she has a knot in real life. Jayd is over at Mickey’s baby shower. They want to have it on her birthday, She wants the day to herself. But they call her selfish. Nellie even wants her to go to Chance’s mom’s bday party but Jayd turns it down. The ASU votes on officers. They decide to have a run-off, choose two nominates, and then pick a logo. Emilo does a sketch for a log and conveniently leaves out Jayd’s Goddess. Now Jayd really wants to be president. He says it’s because Oshine is too promiscuous. And BTW Misty seems to know about Jayd sleepwalking and leaving Rahemma by herself. At Netta’s, she, Jayd, and Mama talk about Emilio’s disrespect, Jayds ignorant friends, the old school ways vs the new school ways of dating, getting serious too soon, Rah’s insecurity, Jaremy’s racist family, getting to know someone’s family first, friendeniemes, protecting yourself, and giving Emilio his comeuppance.

Jayd has a dream through her mom’s eyes of her grandmother instructing her to use her powers on Jayd’s dad to get him to ask her to the prom. Then Misty’s there giving Lynn a brain freeze. (Esmeralda). But Lynn Marie reverses the power and gives Misty (Esmeralda) the headache. At school, Jayd takes a practice AP exam and doesn’t pass. Mrs. Benett is sure to rub her face in it, but her other teacher tells her there’s a study group. Jayd lets Nellie convince her to go to (I said it was her mom's but it's) Chance’s dad's birthday dinner. Only Nellie is late. Chance’s dad turns out to be controlling and while getting away from him she and Jayd find themselves in another room. Chance’s mom reveals she knows Jayd is a priestess and that she knows about Chance having black blood. She tells her she was disappointed to find out Chance’s new girlfriend wasn’t here. Then Nellie shows up with blond hair and Cognac (both to Chance’s mom's distaste-and that’she’s late-_) Jayd leaves after this to go to the study group. Jeremy shows up at a study session and surprises Jayd by saying he’s also taking the AP exam.

Jayd’s grandmother punishes her by sleeping on the couch for coming in late from a study session. That night she dreams of her own funeral. As she looks at herself in the casket, her eyes are now green. That morning, Jayd and one of her uncles gets into a fight over the bathroom and Mama as usual takes her uncle's side. Jayd says she wants to live with her mother. Her grandfather calls her an ornery witch now that she’s about to be seventeen, but shortly after tells her he still wants her to speak on Easter and gives her 10.00 for gas. She sees Misty who threatens her that she might have won that battle but there’s still something coming.

(BTW Jayd is starting to experience some of her mom’s old powers). Rah shows up after school and lets out trying to spit some more of his ol tired playah bulla t Jayd, but she’s FINALLY moved on. Jayd hints at Chance’s background and she gets the slight indication he knows he’s half black, but she tells him he needs to talk to his mother about it. Mama burst Jayd’s bubble and tells her he only wants her to give the speech because he thinks she needs to be saved. Mama asks Jayd if she’s sure she wants to move. She says she needs space to concentrate on her schoolwork. Jayd tells her she’ll see her every day and she’ll be back to see her. Mama says her bio mom isn’t there and she’s a minor. She needs supervision. Jayd says she’s doing fine on her own. Mama reminds her that she and her grandfather are the ones that provide food for her, but Jayd says she’ll make do with milk and cereal. Mama tells Jayd she’s moving to fast, but Jayd disagrees. Then thinks in comparison to her friends she’s not moving fast at all. Later, she’ll ask Nigel to help her move her stuff. Her grandfather tries to talk her out of it, but Jayd’s mind is made up. Rah comes and throws in his lil b*** a** two cents on Jayd not needin any space. Jeremy gives Jayd his card and takes her on a shopping spree for her birthday.

They buy up the mall. Jeremy and Jayd spend the night and sleep together but don’t sleep together, Jayd wants to know why. He says he doesn’t want to rush her and abstinence is the best policy. He’s not trying to make another baby like he did with Tanya. Jayd is good with this. She doesn’t need the extra drama sex brings. Jayd has to pick up some fish for the baby shower, On the way, to the shower she notices they don’t have the fish. She goes back with her receipt and they don’t do anything about it until Jeremy gets involved. They tell her to go to the seafood department and get a replacement. Jayd is quiet all the way to Nigel’s not knowing how to put her anger into words. Jeremy doesn’t understand and thinks the anger is with him. So, Jayd has to tell him what the deal is. He thinks she’s over reacting. She thinks he under-reacting. But he apologizes to her for things not being fair because of her race. (I’m not sure if she used her mom’s powers on him here because she mentions them).

Rah hates on Jay and Jeremy all thoughout the party. He starts to get all in Jayd’s business about if she and Jeremy are having sex, but Jayd just tells him they’re practicing abstince (which he thinks is dumb). Jayd isn’t phased by his lil tantrum and declaration that she knows what it is between them. Some thugs start showing up and Mickey blames Jayd. But it turns out Mickey’s brother invited them because they’re friends of “the baby daddy” (Mickey’s other man). Jayd runs them off, but not before they say theyre there in Trey’s memories. Mickey tells her brother he has a big mouth. Mrs. Esop catches Mickey drinking and tells them all to get the hell out of her house. Mickey blames Jayd AGAIN to break up her and Nigel. Mickey also blames Jayd for wearing the wrong colors. Then says something about Jayd knowing she slep with Tre. Unfornately Nigel walks in at this moment. He runs off. Mickey runs after him. Before she leaves she asks if Jayd told Rah she left Rahemma alone while she sleepwalked. Rah asks Jayd what Mickey’s talking about. Mrs. Esop ends the party, tells them to clean up, and tells Jayd she can’t wait to see her at the deb meeting.

Jayd gets the gold and emerald bracelets for her bday. On Jayd’s bday, Misty uses her powers against her again. (Jayd gets a head cold). Jayds AP class surprises her with a Baskin and Robbins ice cream cake. Jeremy gives her a certificate for a day at the spa. Mickey and Nellie don’t acknowledge Jayd’s bday. At break, Jeremy surprises Jayd with flowers and her favorite candy. Misty brings donuts to the SSU meeting and Jayd wonders what she’s put on them. She wraps one up to take home for Mama to examine. Things in the room get colder but only Jayd fills the temperature drop. Chance shows up with balloons and pizza curtesy of him and Nigel. Jayd then gets sick and runs out the room. Mr. A excuses her to go home.

Jayd has a dream she’s having tea with her great-grandmother. They’re accompanied by a snake. By the end of the dream, Jayd isn’t scared of the snake and it feels good in her hair. Mama gives Jayd a special tea and it clears head cold right up. At school, Nigel finds a letter to Mickey from another guy in prison and calls her a gold-digging ho. He says he doesn’t want anything else to do with her until she takes a paternity test. It’s finally revealed Mr. A is a priest in Jayd’s religon. Rah shows up to check on Nigel. Mickey breaks down and says the baby is Tre’s then runs out the room. Nellie goes after her. Mr. A excuses Rah and Nigel and then continues to give his test. Jayd gives her speech on Easter about how women need to love each other more and cut out all the drama. Afterward, Misty weakens Jayd with a psychic hit.

Mama allows Jayd to take a couple of weeks off school and gives her some herbs to make her stronger. Jayd takes the AP exam and this time she knows she passes. Because Jeremy wants to celebrate by surfing he and Jayd make plans to see each other later. Rah asks her to stop by later to get her gift, but when she gets there Sasndy’s planned a “private” party. Usual threats from Sandy to Jayd. Sandy tries to snatch Raheema up and leave but Rahema wants Rah. So, Sandy hits Rah. He tells her to stop but then she taunts him and slaps him. Then she grabs Raheema. Jayd leaves thinking of Mama’s words. She can’t fight her friend's battles.

My Thoughts
So again I will touch on some of these discussion questions. One of the first questions is about Mrs. Bennett always having it out for Jayd and how would I go about recomming that if you had a teacher with a personal vendetta how would I handle it. What you do with teachers like that is what Jayd did in this book. You know your shit in the classroom and when you know your shit and show out (you can either do this verbally or in silently depending on the assignment or test). When you do this there really isn’t anything a teacher can say to you *there*. Mrs. Benett tho is unfortunately all up in Jayd’s relationship and that’s something I never dealt with. I don’t really think teachers SHOULD be that personally involved in students lives. Jayd did try to report her but unfortunately, this is a racist school. So, as I see it Jayd is doing all the right things it’s just unfortunate because this school is TOXIC!

Another was should Jayd tell Chance he’s adopted. NO! One bad thing about Jayd is she tends to get herself all up in situations that don’t have anything to do with her. She should leave telling Chance he’s adopted to HIS PARENTS! And I’m not sure why they’ve waited so long to have that conversation with him but that’s their job. Then do you really want to have the conversation of *how* you knew. Oh I can dream travel and I was there when you were born so I heard the whole thing. NO! Let’s not make things more complicated. It’s enough they know you’re a priestess. They ain’t got to know EVERY thang.

Do you think Jayd made the right decession to leave Mama’s house? ABSOLUTELY! And I find it really werid that Mama lets all these WORTHLESS men stay in her house number one. But there’s nothing like having PEACE OF MIND. Sometimes it’s sad that black people don’t recognize how important this is. But it always gets brushed under the rug. We’re told all the time to just SHUT UP and stuff it down. Jayd took action and did something for her mental health and I applaud her for that.

No w that Jayd has found a new study group should she give up on Nellie and Micey for good? I mean… After all these chicks have put her through, I really would. But that’s just me. Jayd has more tolerance for drama than me tho. But neither Nellie or Mickey are worth a damn and YES I’d LET THEM GO! She probably should have been let them go. Does Jeremy spoil Jayd too much and do you think she’s taking advantage of him? You would be RRAZY to answer this as YES. I use to think she was taking advantage of him because she was toying with him but now that they’re back together NAH she’s just enjoying the benefits of being with a guy that treats her well. We should all be so lucky.

Cold As Ice is the one of the many books in the Drama High Series. In this book, Jayd has a lot of things on her plate. She has to study for AP Exams, her and ex boyfriend are back together and closer then ever. Her life is starting to fall apart, because her grandparents have been on her case about everything and is fed up with the arguments, so she decides to go live with her mom. Her friend Mickey is being more bratty then ever because of she's pregnant. Jayd's friends are upset becuase she's studying for her test and focusing on her relationship with Jeremy rather than worry about a baby shower, even though she's trying to be supportive. There's a whole lot of drama in store for Jayd in this novel.
Jayds teacher Mrs. Bennett is very harsh towards her and got out of line when she told her that "Jeremy is too good for you" the first time they started dating. Nigel's mom doesn't like Mickey because she is too "ghetto" since she doesn't know who the father of her child is. She likes Jayd, however because she is an honor student who is dedicated to her school work and family, unlike Mickey, who is focused more on her looks and silly boys.
I gave the book five stars becuase I loved this book so much, I just couldn't put it down. It was addicating and I would reccomend this book to anyone who doesn't like getting into drama, but likes to read it in a fictional story.

When I first read this book I was easily amazed by it. This book talks about every day drama that happens in high school. Even though you shouldn't deal with drama every day, but thats what Jayd and her friends are used too anyway. Jayd is having personal issues between her friends and school. When she found out she is no longer going to have AP class meetings she was getting really worried about it. Instead she is for some real trouble now. She has to take AP class pre testing every week until the real test comes up. Know that just great she has to deal with test every week and her friends with all the drama that is going on. This book describes every day drama that most high school students go through even with their own personal lives.

This is a really good addition to the Drama High series ... I might add if you pick this book up without reading any of the others you will truly be lost. It helps to be commited to the Drama High series anyway for me this book was long awaited I have the previous 10 other books. And in comparison to the others this book is still packed with drama and few " o no she didn't". Jayd in this book is fed up with two star treatment from everyone and kind of focuses on herself in this book and sorts out her priorities she also gains another "gift" and doesn't tell Mama for fear it will be taken from her.

I really enjoyed this book. I love when Jayd's together with Jeremy even though I have soft spot for Rah. I adore their relationship.

I'm glad Mickey finally confessed about who the baby daddy was too. I was wondering forever who it was.

But all in all this has to be my favorite book in the series right now.

Jayd joins a study group in hopes of getting away from the usual drama. But as always troublerears its UGLY head in the form of Misty. She is always trying to destroy Jayd but lucky for Jayd she knows she can put Misty in her place.
