I actually got this book for my daughter, Sarah (she turned 14 this week). I gave it to her and she just finished the 40 days of devotionals in it. I asked her what she thought and these were her responses...
• I actually understood it.
• The stories each day were true stories about her life, that was cool.
• Each day had a letter to me from God and I knew that she might have typed it but it was things that God wanted me to read.
• The Bible verse each day made a lot of sense to me because they were tied in with that day's story.
• If she wrote another one I would want to get it too.
I also wanted to point out that Sarah read each day's devotion and then posted the Bible verse on her Facebook page. We had a friend of mine tell us that she was following Sarah's daily verses, even though she doesn't go to church she was enjoying seeing what verse Sarah posted each day. I thought that was a great witness to Sarah that little things can make a difference. I was very impressed by how much Sarah enjoyed this devotional book. I'm looking forward to finding more like it for her now that she has shown the dedication to read this one!

MY REVIEW:
Girl Talk With God is a bff and confidant for any young woman. It is aimed at teen girls, but I would recommend it for older teen girls (15 & up) and even younger college age girls. This well written, and easy to read, devotional type of book offers comfort, hope, and encouragement for those who have or do struggle with a wide range of issues. From beauty to bulimia, friends to fashion, dating to drugs, purity to popularity, Sheri Rose Shepherd offers refreshment for the heart of girls reading this book.
I appreciated how Sheri dealt with many issues in a short yet personal way. She got to the point, and the heart, quickly and effectively. My favorite part of this book were the love letters from God - letters written based upon scripture that applied the Bible to the heart and mind of the woman reading it.
This book is considered a devotional, although it's more encouragement than devotional, and does address topics that some may not want their daughters reading about yet or through this type of format depending on the parenting style. I think this book can be a great tool for teens and young women, but highly advise the parent to know what their daughter is reading before she begins to read.
BOOK OVERVIEW:
You're the daughter of the King!
Like a loving father, God holds you in the palm of His hand. He loves you no matter what you wear, what you say, what you've done, or how you feel. And He wants you to live a wonderful life.
In His Princess Girl Talk with God, Sheri Rose Shepherd helps you experience God's unending love for you through forty devotions. Sheri remembers what it was like to be a teen girl, and she connects your experiences with God's love. Through these stories, love letters from God, Scriptures, and prayers, you'll feel just how much God treasures you--His Princess.

You’re the daughter of the King!
HIS PRINCESS GIRL TALK WITH GOD is a devotional specifically designed for teenage girls touching on all the issues that girls deal with today. Teen pregnancy, drugs, and eating disorders are just some of the issues Ms. Shepherd touches on in this devotional. The issues are gently covered, reminding us that our bodies are the temple of God, that premarital sex is wrong, and other truths, but yet reminding us of God’s offering of grace and forgiveness if needed.
Each devotional starts a short story, spanning only two small pages, then a love letter to girls from God, and followed by a verse for memorization or reflection. I used this devotional with my fourteen year old daughter just to get the feel of it, and she enjoyed it, feeling it was definitely teen girl friendly. My eight year old daughter enjoyed the love letter part, feeling that was the most beneficial for her.
If you are looking for a good devotional for your favorite teenage girl, then definitely consider HIS PRINCESS GIRL TALK WITH GOD. It is a book written by an author who definitely understands teenagers and the issues they face. $14.99 hardcover. 172 pages.

His Princess Girl Talk with God, by Sheri Rose Shepherd is a book of 40 very short devotions followed by a brief letter from God. The cover says it's for "young women." I'm not sure what classifies as young women. It's a little too simplistic for late teens and early 20's. But for adolescents, it's good. The messages are "good" for anyone, but somewhat trite and predictable. God loves you so much, you are so beautiful to your Daddy in heaven...
As it progresses, it gets meatier, but the beginning is enough to turn a person off with its sappy predictability.
I looked forward to this book because I thought it would be a good book for my teenagers. They didn't get very far before losing interest. My eleven year old is enjoying it though.
I want to say again that the message is good. It was a struggle to stay engaged though, for me and my "young women." But the 11 year old is enjoying it. Therefore that's the age appropriate for this book from my household perspective.
My copy of His Princess Girl Talk with God was provided by Baker Publishing and Graf-Martin Publications. It is available from your favorite bookseller of Revell books, a division of Baker Publishing.

I think this book is wonderful. I just got this book in the mail. I was very excited that I won the book on goodreads. I have already read the first 10 chapters and I just love it. It speaks to all women and what we have felt and gone through with being insecure and felt like were not beautiful. It reminds of us all that we are beautiful in God's eyes and in His own image. God loves us and we are His princesses. I'm definitely going to tell other women about this book.

A great book! Very thought provoking and insightful. It was quite little though, and only took me about two or three days to read it. Lovely layout none the less. Written in "letter" forms from God, with little intros by the author. Followed by a bible verse pertaining to the topic.

A book, filled with life lessons, on how to act, how to live, how to learn being comfortable in you own skin, and how to chose a right man. I still remember these rules, and try to follow them. They sound right, a way to happiness.
