When Bethany "sees" a murder before it happens, along with a mysterious three-eyed woman whose image keeps showing up in mirrors and glass, she and the other members of the Witches' Night Out coven decide to investigate. Together, they are drawn into a dark world of illusions and secrets, murder and magick, where nothing is as it first appears . . . and no one is safe.
Excerpt from Witches' Night of Fear
The wind has risen, and magick is afoot . . .
Bethany peeked out her bedroom window again. The pounding wind screamed, almost like a lamenting woman. Bethany shivered. "Element of air. Element of flow. Who killed Annabelle? Let me know." Bethany shoved open the window, stumbling backward as a gust of wind tore through her bedroom, rattling the bureau mirror, sending papers spinning in the air, pulling in dust and debris from outside. She stood in front of the open window; the drapes billowing around her, the picture of little Annabelle clutched firmly in her hand. She could feel the power of magick boiling in her blood, urging her onward, pleading to be released into the universe. "It's time," it whispered. "Time."

Much slower paced and less exciting than the first book. Nothing much happens until the end and everything is wrapped up a little too conveniently. Her pet cat was the best thing about this book. I’ll probably read the third book just to see how things wrap up though.
Witches' Night of Fear is the story of young Bethany who "sees" a murder before it happens. She and her Wiccan friends try to solve the murder, running into some very strange happenings along the way. This book was very dark; the author recommends ages 8 and up, which is frankly disgusting to me. This book was written due to the popularity of paganism in our modern society. I can't really recommend this book to anyone.
Remember how, in book 1, Bethany's Dad's fiancee was discovered to be a con-artist/murderer and then dropped dead in Bethany's room?
This book doesn't either.
Plot holes, continuity errors and grammatical glitches - all for a plot that dead ends in melodramatic guntoting confessions, surprise deaths which go unreacted to by the main characters and info-dumps for days.
I enjoyed the story, especially it being for teens. I always enjoy a story where someone does whatever it takes to solve a murder plus it was great to see a bit of Sydney's gift come to life in the book. The story also touched on what kids go through in school shedding light on being the underdog, being bullied, and being abused whether in a relationship or at home.
A novel about high school friends who are studying witchcraft and have a group called "Witches Night Out." There is a murder, a father is a police officer and of course they solve it.
It's neat to see witchcraft things mixed into a story that is not all Hollywood.
