Suburbia just got a little bit stranger.Liam is keen to re-establish links with his old childhood friend, Will. Will lives in a nice house with his wife, Iman. Liam decides the best way to be near Will is to buy the house next door, which he does. Except he doesn't tell Will or Iman, and then goes on to create a 'portal' between the two houses - a little doorway from his bedroom into the wardrobe in theirs. When they're out - and sometimes when they're in - Liam can come and go as he pleases, tinkering with their lives in more or less innocent fashion . . .Delightfully skewed, occasionally bizarre, often hilarious but never less than original, SEMI-DETACHED is a genuinely novel first novel.

It was weird but it made me laugh.

Gave up on page 100.
It was odd. I found it too immature and juvenile, a bit like "The Inbetweeners" except the main characters, Liam and William, are adults.
Also, what's up with all the peeing in the book? Author's fetish?

Absolutely hilarious, the funniest work of fiction I have ever read. The main character left me feeling sympathy and amusement at his plight. We're all a little bit bonkers and he has the elements of our personalities that we'd probably prefer not to acknowledge!

Funniest book I had the pleasure of reading... Haven't read it years, but I did several times initially and still laughed out loud at the jokes.

You know what, I'm going to have to read it again now.
