Donna shows up again! And this time it’s less than picture-purrfect. Donna's claim to fame was photographing rich cats. Well, at least cats of rich owners! She knew sneaking onto wealthy estates to snap photos of their cats in the window was a little risky but it could pay off in a big way.
Turns out, too big. When she snaps a photo of someone who doesn't want to be seen, the game turns deadly. Emily thinks she has her sights on the bad guy but before she can prove her case, a series of threats throws her off track. Can Emily track down the incriminating photograph before anyone else gets hurt?
Of course, Shakespeare, the cat is along for the ride, both sweet and sassy, and with nine lives! In this quirky whodunnit you’ll find twists and turns, red herrings served with a slice of puzzle pie, and surprises that’ll have you turning the pages to find the killer before they find Emily. Perfect for those who love cozy animal mysteries with a pinch of humor, lots of clues, and a fun small town feel.
Emily and her Aunt Mattie are such well written fun, unique characters.
I absolutely LOVED the mystery.
There were a lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing.
I related to Emily's character SO much. The story is perfectly paced and so much fun. I could not put this book down and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Donna has sent Emily several photos that she hoped would be published in the Whiskers Treats promotions. Unfortunately, many of Donna's pictures are terribly out of focus. One particular email from Donna has Emily concerned and she goes to check on her. When she arrives, she sees Donna's cell phone on the driveway of a house and then finds Donna nearby. Emily calls the police, fearing her friend is dead. One of the pictures on Donna's phone is the house across the street from where she was found. Donna may have witnessed a robbery in progress prior to being attacked. As Emily goes through Donna's photos, she notices something strange scattered throughout the pictures. Just as she is starting her investigation, Emily starts receiving messages threatening her and her aunt.
Who attacked Donna? Who is threatening Emily? Is the same person responsible for both events? Can Emily unravel the mystery before somebody else is hurt?
CeeCee James has another wonderful adventure with the latest Emily Lickenson mystery. Her characters have a knack of getting caught up in situations we can all easily relate to. There are also plenty of twists, turns, and red herrings to keep the reader engaged clear to the end.
Emily Lickenson's The Stillness in the Room is the second book in the Emily Lickenson Cozy Mystery series by CeeCee James in which Emily befriends Donna a the local grocery store. Donna keeps sending Emily out of focus pictures of cats. One day Emily gets a weird email from Donna in which Donna states she may need Emily's help. Emily goes to find Donna and finds her on the ground with a professional camera around her neck. Donna doesn't use a camera only her phone. Puzzling and very strange! Another mystery for Emily and Aunt Mattie to solve. Such a great story!
The Stillness in the Room is the second book in the Emily Lickenson series and is just as great as the first one. This is a new series by an author, whose work I really love.
Her characters are so real, with all their quirkiness and imperfections, and are lovable and fun to get to know.
The mystery in this one is very well done and kept me guessing 'til the end.
I highly recommend this book and the first in the series as well.
When Donna, the woman with the bad cat pictures, winds up dead, at a neighbors house, (Emily) Hass to solve the crime. This time I Aunt Mattie gave advice as opposed to following her, but (Emily) actually figured it out for herself. Another fun filled mystery with the cat blogger, the eccentric aunt, and of course, Shakespeare, the cat. Oh, and by the way, a special guest comes.
Emily and Aunt Mattie are back at it again! Emily is drawn into another murder investigation, this time for someone she knew, her friend, Donna. Emily works through her own feelings of guilt and frustration to investigate what happened to Donna. There were many humorous moments between Emily and Aunt Mattie and one of them may or may not involve someone wearing a dinosaur costume !
I found this to be quite a lot better than the first one. Had I been asked my opinion before it was published I would have had a couple of suggestions to clarify a couple of things, but overall it was an entertaining read. I look forward to the next one in the series. I love the author’s work and the author is a lovely person, too, from my experience.
I really like this series. It has all of my cozy mystery favorite elements including animals. Sassy writing, interesting characters, a hint of romance, and a lot of twists and turns related to a murder. An easy read and a clean read. No worries about objectionable situations or language. I hope to read all of the books in this series. Highly recommended!
I had quite a few laughs surprised out of me from the Shakespeare antics, mainly because I am owned by two cats, myself. The characters are lovely, bright, and clever. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding out who killed her friend and why. The answers were illuminating. I definitely recommend this book.
This was another solid book in this series. It was an enjoyable time filled with laughs as well as bouts of suspense and danger. Although not a lot of twist and turns, it was a good mystery that kept my attention. It was an easy read that I was satisfied with in the end.

I love these characters - so funny and unique. I could not put this book down. Emily and her aunt touched my heart and their pets had such vivid, lovable personalities, too.
I loved this book. It is so fun and interesting. The characters are great. I love the mischievous pets. They are adorable. I could not put the book down. The mystery has many twists. I highly recommend this series.
Emily gets involved in yet another murder. This time is her "friend" Donna. The ending ....you just have to read this fast paced murder mystery that will shock you when you ...well, just read it. Best book yet by CeeCee James!
Emily takes care of her Aunt , writes cat blogs, and leads a pretty quiet life until she stumbles upon a murder. It doesn't add up, why? Not a detective or wanting to be, just looking for answers. Delightful new series, give it a read!
This is another great book in the Emily Lickenson series by Cee Cee James. I love all of the characters and the setting. I can't wait for the next book.
Really fun cozy mystery! Great wit. Captivating mystery, loving aunt, surprising cat including lol wit. Thanks CeeCee James for the great read! Sincerely, Sharon
I love this book! Second in series of Emily Lickerson is fast paced with lots of interesting characters and great twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Entertaining and riveting story.
I enjoyed reading this book which is the second in the series. I didn't read Book 1 but that really wasn't a hindrance. There were one or two places which referred back to events from it, but, it didn't hurt the flow of this book. However, if given a do-over, I would read this series from the start. I always enjoy Ms. James' book
UPDATE: I have finally read Book 1 and gave it 5 stars, too. See my review at that book's site.
