A Plague of Hatred

Rate this book
“This dazzling epic fantasy is packed with memorable characters in black, white, and gray.” (BookLife Reviews)

The Karulent people fight for their very survival,
crushed by the heavy hand of oppression from the Dayigan Empire, whose twisted faith requires them to eliminate all 'others' they deem impure.

Yet a young Karulent healer, Roslyn, rises as the only hope for her people.

She will transform from an ordinary healer-in-training into a legendary resistance leader – renamed the Blue Rose – as she enlists all of her skills as an Azerent Mage to stand up for her people and save them from destruction.

But when an Archbishop from the Empire unearths a mythical weapon that could annihilate all, Roslyn must make tough choices between keeping her vow as a healer to not take lives and saving her world from ruin.

Can she stay true to herself as she unites her remaining people against insurmountable odds? Or will they succumb to utter ruin?

Follow her daring story of resilience in the face of adversity within this dark epic fantasy novel.

A great page turner. Filled with interesting characters, and a well thought out world. Following the leading lady through her life as she survives the war against her people.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was an addicting epic fantasy. Cain did an excellent job of building a unique world, complete with magic, politics, and competing belief systems. The characters are unique, and really make it obvious that few things in life are black and white, and sometimes you live in the gray areas. Roslyn is an amazing MC, she’s strong, smart, and determined even in the face of overwhelming odds. We get to meet various characters over the course of the story, each with their own desires and motivations, some at odds with Roslyn. There’s enough tension to keep you turning pages, and I found myself saying just one more chapter, then I’ll stop for the night, often. I will warn you, there are some graphic moments that really earn this the dark label, so be mindful of that going in. Prepare to dive into a new world and a heart-racing adventure.

FIRST I HAVE TO SAY I LOVE A GOOD BOOK WITH A MAP AS SOON AS I OPEN IT AND START READING. THIS BOOK HAD A MAP IN THE FIRST FEW PAGES. WIN FOR ME!
ROSLYN IS THE MAIN FMC IN THIS BOOK. SHE WANTS TO BECOME A HEALER AND MARRY HER LOVE JON.
SHE THEN COMES INTO CONTACT WITH SWITHUN. SWITHUN IS AN ENEMY SOILDER/WARRIOR. HE HAS A CHILD. ROSYLN HAS SOME TROUBLES WITH HER LIFE AT ONE POINT IN THE BOOK. ROSLYN BECOMES A HEALER BUT ALSO BECOMES A DIFFERENT WOMAN BY THE END OF THE BOOK. I WOULD BE INTERESTED TO SEE IF THE AUTHOR CONTINUES THE SERIES AS IT COULD DEFINTELY BE ADDED TO:)

This is a really intense dark fantasy that kept me going until the end. Actually, it has me very interested in what’s going to happen beyond this story. It’s a long read but if this is your genre, I think you’re enjoy it.
I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
